if it's any consolation, they removed all items in DMC5. I don't think any half-serious gamer ever uses them though. You're penalized for using these items, unlike in games like KH and Souls.

I beat Virgil 3 with holy water. Pretty easy game, I had a ton of them.

You aren't penalised for using them, score has never been required to clear a mission in any DMC game. KH and souls use items in real time , not a pause menu, they aren't DMC garbage.

Yes? That's the whole point of speedrunning and leaderboards anyways. I'm surprised you don't understand how important it is for people to maintain their place in such games, these systems have been around almost as long as the medium has existed. You're free to not care about the score system, but it's not really impressive. To be frank, people that do care about how they perform don't really care for your opinion. And you, of course, don't have to care about what we see in these games. We're just split into two groups - the one-and-dones and the enthusiasts.

If the closest comparison to him that you could find was a room of scarecrows, the literal fodder enemy, getting wiped out by a holy water I'm not exactly impressed. And that wasn't DMD, that was LDK, where enemies have normal health.
We could go back and forth all night about this shit, but I've played a fuckton of both series and dmc just gives you way more freedom in combat. Neither series is particularly difficult though

Kingdom Hearts has the most generic, mind numbingly simple, button-mashing combat of any action rpg i've ever played. I went through a solid hour of the second game and haven't touched, and never will touch, a KH game since.
