It's actually a bit surprising the connection between shitty people "who totally want to get better" and people who relate to characters in this game.

I live in a small southern connecticut town and this game's suburb aesthetic was more relatable than I ever thought possible so I give everything else in the game a pass. Demon Tower was fun, the ending felt rushed, Back to the Holler is the best song in the game.

Every single one was grating and intolerable. Given that the game has no actual game play aside from a poor narrative, there wasn't any reason to keep playing and I still haven't finished it. The free DLC ruined a lot of the atmosphere of the game, especially the epilogue. At least the ability to play songs at will is pretty neat.

I can't relate to any of the characters in the game but the setting and atmosphere still appeal to me a lot because I never really had the chance to live like this. Grew up moving every 3-4 yearrs because both parents were military, never had the chance to live in a small town (always suburbs, high population areas, close to or on base) and it always had a sort of romantic aspect to it. Never got to have such close relationships or comfy adventures with childhood friends, or even a place I actually called home and felt nostalgic about. The setting of NitW hit me because even if its idealized and a lot more boring irl it's still an idea that I've been in love with, so spending the game just exploring and fleshing out that setting was something I had fun with, no replayability but I still appreciate it

Absolutely gorgeous aesthetic and art design. Soundtrack was fantastic. Dialogue was interesting enough though none of the characters really appealed to me.
Too bad the game on it's own doesnt really exist as anything other than the conduit for a story which never really felt developed. I kept waiting for something like progression but it never really felt significant. Character development seemed kind of lazy.
The ending was never there. Maybe that's the point, doesnt make it any better.
I would like another game like this to come out, just more fleshed out.
