Its not just races, its fantasy as a whole.

50 years of D&D and its various spinoffs have kind of watered downt he entire concept of magic and fantasy, we used to have high fantasy, but that style of fantasy had its roots in midevil fantasy, but now it seems every fantasy setting needs to have everyone farting magic and shitting artifacts, and if they're not they're somehow chosen by the gods.

You really can't have heroes in settings like that, just chosen one mary sues.

They're unironically right, it's not really believable and is better off in less serious cartoons or platformers. I just don't see legit beast races (like ops pic) as similar enough to me in appearance to act like me, simple as.
