> Give players a shitload of choices
> This inevitably results in some being totally unviable because how the fuck do you balance that many characters
> retards have no sense of perspective so they constantly call for big nerfs to the viable ones which feel overpowered on a relative scale
> eventually every character is total shit to play
Name one time it didn't happen, Yea Forums.

missing the point

it would be easier to balance if it wasnt dogshit

Make all the characters OP. Problem solved.

would also be a lot easier to balance if it wasn't a fucking MOBA/Hero shooter

>play quick play
>5 dps
>play competitive
>0 dps

yeah real nice game there blizzard

game would be more fun if you could pick more than of the same character again. I miss playing an all Winston squad.

that's only fun if you're shit at the game and have a low IQ though

name one time that worked

The typical blizzard style of balancing where there is only 1 viable team so every highlevel match is just a mirror match. Then the teamcomp is nerfed and another top team comp appears and dominates the next 3 months.

>play goats
win
>don't play goats
lose

blizzard :
>Let's end toxcicity!!!! #IssuesThatMatter

Why not just class bans like Paladins?

literally fun mode and stressful mode

Dota

Which is why devs don't always balance based on community outcry; they have the stats. Devs have responded on topics like this from other games too.

limits only show how much of a disappointment you are as a gameplay and balancing professional; unable to fix the game's issues unless you slam a hard "you cant pick this character/class in this situation" fix

its like assigning different character specific mechanics to different game modes. if you are unable to give every character a personal arsenal and make them equally viable in every mode youre trash

Even TF2 with 9 classes has a couple that are almost outright useless in truly competitive scenarios. Like OP said, it's probably impossible to balance more than around 6 or 7 classes to be equally useful in the hands of skilled players.

What if they made more healers and tanks
What if they actually rewarded healing and made it more engaging than autoheal for the majority of the roster.

comp TF2 has core combat classes and situational classes; OW has classes that just do the same thing as other heroes but worse, which seems inevitable when you have a ton of them

i didn't play that so pick a more causal example so I can more effectively belittle you

It'd also be much easier to balance if the developers weren't retarded but we can't have everything.
