All the items in the map shop are pretty useful and you get tons of cash from playing so get what you think you'll really need. That said you are going to find more shops later on, many of which have more useful or even mandatory items.

My tip is to always have at least 500 bucks on you or (minor spoiler but not really?) the bank if you've found it..

The Mantids are strong-willed enough to fight off the infection, except for the ones that defected to embrace it for more power. The Bees are completely walled off in their hive, and kill anything that comes in. The Jellyfish were created by Monomon, and they aren't bugs anyway. Dung Defender is too loyal to Hallownest to let the Radiance fuck with him. The "Wyrm" In kingdoms edge explicitly says he is not a Wyrm, just big, but he's pretty smart and knows all about that shit so he doesn't give in to the infection either. Mister Mushroom is part of a fungal god pantheon, and is not a bug. Garpedes are infected, they just literally take no notice of the knight because they are effectively invincible and they just want to crawl around and eat dirt.
As for the Herrah fuckers in Deepnest, I have no idea.

There's some huge fag in these threads who insists our main character is flawed as well because of scenes like sitting with Quirrel or delivering the flower, but he's just a dumbass imprinting his own human agency onto an empty vessel. All I ever wanted from HK was more things to explore.
I think it's important that they inverted Silksong -- you're ascending an alive kingdom. It makes it feel similar enough to the original but deviate enough from it to feel like a completely new first time experience.

I would have agreed with your sentiments if the sequel was set in yet another dead world but it's not and I think that makes all the difference.

It's by the same people, in the same engine. I'm sure it will still be good, but now that we know what to expect it won't be as great an experience.

Part of what was so good about hollow knight was that it was a kickstarted indie game, made by 3 people, with a very simple art style and seemingly barebones story, so only when people got a chance to dive into it were their expecations blown away by how good everything is. The spears fix their targets after like a second, you just need to keep moving and never go back to a place you were because a spear will be waiting there.

Yes, it makes it feel less like an adventure where you have to have to try stuff out, figure out what roles the characters have, who the various hidden quests and events are tied to and how, and more like any other game that gives you a formal list of Stuff To Do For Rewards for the sake of "QoL".

If those aren't conducive to good and appropriate gameplay, the response isn't "oh well, couldn't be helped, their hands are tied by the lore", it's "write different lore, then". People gave the same excuse for ME3's stupid ending - "Well, of COURSE there had to be a magic Reaper off switch, they were too powerful and there wasn't enough time for them to be stopped any other way!" I didn't finish all the Radiant boss battles and stopped playing for a while. Picked the game up again today. Just cheesed Radiant Uumuu on my third try and am motivated to finish the whole thing.

Good luck user, the rush is worth it. Don't get discouraged by AR. It'll feel impossible at first, but soon soon you'll find yourself fairly regularly beating phase 1 and 3 without getting hit, and from there it's just a matter of getting lucky enough to pass phase 2. I recommend playing on attuned until you're doing phase 1 and 3 with ease. People who practice on radiant before they're close to winning are crazy.

The only thing HK was missing was a real end game area that had both fuck off powerful enemies and bullshit platforming. Something which had the hazards of Fog Canyon, the platforming of White Palace, and enemies that weren't just Kingsmoulds.

I don't get why people have a hard time with Deepnest. I always thought it was easy. The Mines are worse, desu.

Gang bang knights and traitor are the only fights I've really struggled with, I did dung befendwr first time, found the fight to be pretty fun despite it benign easy. But I just don't see how traitor is stupidly easy boss, it just doesn't add up to me, that was a solid challenge.
