I mostly play Xrd and UNIST and in those I play Answer and Byakuya. I do like having good mobility, and both of those characters, though I wouldn't say either has the best mobility in their respective game, can jump across the screen either with Byakuya's 214 rekka or Answer's high jump. I also play Hazama in BB, though I don't really play BB to begin with, and I occasionally play characters whose mobility isn't so great like Zappa in XX, or I also always play Blue Mary in any KOF she's in.

Guilty Gear characters are capable of doing way more than Street Fighter lets you. 3rd Strike Ibuki is an example of your average GG character. It's far more exciting.

DOA doesn't rely on juggling like other 3D fighters, it plays really smoothly, and the characters each have unique playstyles that have a large variety in movelists. It's a really great series.

Remembering all the mechanics is hard, sure, and at a high level the match up knowledge you need to know is definitely a lot
But I actually think the execution is pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and with combo mode the game lets you easily practice combos
There's not a lot of tight links or anything like that

I always end up playing short range heavy hitters/ rush down characters. Generally meant no weapons, probably didn't have a projectile, basically made the opponent's life hell while you were close to them.
Guy in alpha 3 and Slayer in GG probably are my best examples to the types I gravitate towards. Nice movement options and the payoff once in their effective range keeps me going back to that type.
