how the fuck did they do it?

devs cared more about this game than the sequel.

>>runs better than the sequel
sequel was rushed
and it had much bigger movelists and enemy counts

sequel only ran worse because they throw so many enemies on screen at once, the first game doesn't do that at all.

also oatmeal cookie getting pushed out the door towards the end of development
I couldn't believe you actually had to wait 5 seconds for the pause menu to load

Well it doesn't have near the same enemy count per screen like the sequel for one. Also the sequel has that gore and dismemberment system with bodies staying on the floor. If they stopped being game and gave us a NG collection we could get NG II with zero fps drops. It would be great.

Hold Y and release the game. Those ultimate techniques were way too effective to not spam. Much of the game essentially plays itself.

nu-team ninja would only ever give us a collection of the sigma games

it's really sad that Ryu is skipping this gen altogether (besides DoA6)
though I'm glad Nioh is actually a surprisingly good game, I still don't trust them to make NG4 just yet

More like Izuna Drop and Flying Swallow: The Game

NGfags sure like to call DMC a punching bag simulator when you can play NG the same simplistic way

I just wish they could bring back Itagaki. I'm sure he'd not mind developing for PS4 or PS5 this time since back then PS2 was pretty inferior to Xbox so NGB wouldn't have been possible without seriously downgrading the game and PS3 had really confusing hardware for devs that to da cel to work with so he didn't like PS3 either.

So yeah if they brought him back we could get NG4 released on all consoles as well as PC. This time no neutered Sigma version.

Lets put it this way. In probably 90% of the game all what you need to do is those three things. Just Izuna Drop, Flying Swallow and UT your way through the game.

it would be nice to know what the fuck he's doing altogether
twice now he's stepped down from companies he's founded and he's out in the wilderness
I'm not sure if he's given up on games altogether
I've heard he's working on mobile games in Italy - but I dunno, that sounds like he's done

I'd unironically back a kickstarter game of his - the game world is emptier without him

Maybe he's just done being fucked by this shitty industry. I can't blame him really. He was pulled away from working on the games he loved while working in Tecmo. I don't get the impression from him that he ever actually wanted to leave. He got forced out due to being owed money they didn't want to pay him.

he was also banging his secretary, which I think Tecmo used as the reason to kick him out without paying him owed royalties

>banging his secretary
Nice. Wish he'd come back, too.

He's got some Mickey Mouse advisory role at Valhalla. But yeah, probably safe to say that he's done.

Enemy count is not that big and most of the game takes place in smaller closed in environments without much going on in the background. Not that it's a bad thing 30FPS would have been detrimental to a game like this, the Xbox's hardware advantages over the GCN/PS2 definitely helped as well.

and the chances of Valhalla putting out another game are slim to nothing
shame, as he could've made something cool on the Switch
look at how much Kamiya is flourishing there, his old rival is currently going through his second golden age

It's easy to take pops off at him for being such an obnoxious dickhead (albeit he's a funny one), but he couldn't have predicted THQ going bust and the ground from falling out beneath him. It's a shame that a real character like Itagaki basically was resigned to irrelevancy in such a fickle way.

I see people occasionally say that Team Ninja should extend an olive branch to him, but that'll never happen. Hayashi's remarks during some promo interviews for Nioh and some of Itagaki's Facebook rants suggest that there's still a heap of animosity there.

>there's still a heap of animosity there
Why though? Had a big fight?

last I heard he vehemently hated DoA5
he always regarded that series as his child and with 6 not looking much better, I can't blame him
Team Ninja are clearly quite inept or at least misguided as to what made their previous games high quality without him
Nioh being the one exception to the rule so far, but then again that game was in development for what, 10 years?

it's really sad
Ninja Gaiden is a series of wasted potential.
He needs to go back to Xbox now.

DOA5 took a shit over the series and things haven't gotten better at all

Itagaki was reportedly extremely difficult to work under. Plus he left Tecmo in extremely acrimonious circumstances.

The final version of Nioh was in development from late 2012. Team Ninja's original version of the game (which was the second in total after Omega Force's aborted SRPG/Mosou hybrid one was shelved) was worked on from 2009-11 and was basically just a reskinned Ninja Gaiden with a co-op feature.

Phil Spencer wouldn't touch someone like Itagaki with a ten foot pole in today's climate.

Why does he have the nickname “Oatmeal Cookie”? Is there a meme I’m missing out on here

What was wrong about DoA5? I missed all that info/news ;__;

It's a joke about his very prominent acne scarring. This picture's been floating around the internet for well over a decade, surprised you don't know it.

Attached: Itagaki.jpg (672x576, 82K)

huh well, it'll be interesting to see if Nioh was lightning in a bottle or if Nioh 2 will be as mechanically pleasing
I'm not holding my breath though

I'm pretty sure I've seen similar jokes about itagaki's face in EGM issues from 2003 or 4 even

Itagaki loves diversity though

the vita port is really good too. My ideal way of playing it actually.

>guy has hideously scarred face
>creates games with the most beautiful, big titted women

Did a lifetime of shame and embarrassment turn him into a wizard?

he's got a family
he made the ninja gaiden DS game purely for his daughter

They changed the physics so that juggling is easier, countering isn't as available because of more stun, added side-stepping, ditched the iconic artstyle, bleak atmosphere, poor story that adds more than it resolves from the previous game, poorly implemented story mode, no character themes, just stage music that lacks any edge whatsoever, poor English voice acting, unfaithful modelling and character flanderization, needlessly altered movesets.
This doesn't even get into the pandering with DLC characters and costumes that happened after the base game. With that, they introduced characters specifically made to appeal to fetishes, and who were not by a reasonable stretch of the imagination, fighters at all.

I hate the fact that I'm still going to buy 6 just to really know how much of a shitshow it will be
I'm predicting it'll plummet in price over the next month like SCVI did

That's really sweet.
Damn. Thanks for the explanation. Makes me feel sad for him.

The sad thing about Itagaki being irrelevant now is that we won't get him and Kamiya taking pops off at each other anymore.

>Yesterday, Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya didn't exactly have kind words for Ninja Gaiden. They weren't mean per se, they just weren't kind. Kamiya said he's "not interested" in NG so perhaps you could say he is indifferent. In the same issue of EGM, former Team Ninja lead ninja Tomonobu Itagaki has this to say about Kamiya and his game Okami: 'My daughter tried playing Okami, and she got sick of it pretty quickly-and I got pretty sick of it, too. And I'm not out to make this an Okami bashing session or anything — I'm just saying that it didn't feel like it had much of a spirit. It's unique, but it's not a powerful fighter plane... So I heard Kamiya said something about the action genre not moving forward in eight years. Can you tell me more about that?' Apparently, Kamiya said the action genre hasn't moved forward since the release of the first Devil May Cry, to which Itagaki replied: 'Was he asleep for eight years? ...There are two types of people out there who like to make controversial, splashy comments. There are those who are truly outspoken, and there are those who are just trying to cover up for there weaknesses. We have a saying here in Japan — "the weaker dog barks more" — and I sincerely also like to remind him to make sure to stay awake for the next years.'

and a few years later

>'If I made a similar game as a game I made in the company I quit, people would say, "What an idiot, can't he make anything else?" Well, that is more or less the opinion I have for, uh, that Bayo-something game. Covered in hair, is she? I dunno, Mr. Kamiya must have a lot going through his head. Well, in any case, I would first recommend laser eye surgery. I'm sure he's not that strapped for cash, right?'

I think Kamiya just replied with something to the effect if "You'd have to be some kind of retard to find big breasts erotic".

Harada has also said recently he misses Itagaki's trash talk and that he found it quite healthy and the current gaming culture is lacking it

I love how he shit talks others but anything he’s done outside of NG flops or is forgotten within like two years

4 is the worst game in the series.

6 is but 5 was

it's also the only good game out of all the 3D Ninja Gaiden games.

Then what is the best? 2?

Neither I nor II were great. Both had good ideas but flawed execution.

2 Ultimate and 3 were the peak.

the first half of 2 is still fantastic
and the fight with genshin is absolute kino

Yeah and you're also a fag. 2 is good. Sigma 1 is good.
Another fag

Black is the best action game ever made.

depends on what you consider essential in a DOA game
DOA2 gameplay is primitive but has the most content
DOA3 gameplay is more refined but has nearly the least content
DOA4 refined gameplay even more and added cuhrayzee

that must say a lot about how bad action games have been

4 fucked up the hold system and was unbalanced. It also looked like ass.

>4 fucked up the hold system
by adding a separate input for middle kicks so that counters were less free---yes, how horrible, definitely shouldn't have been taken all the way in a sequel, because then countering would be too hard :(
>unbalanced
yeah Ninjas 2 OP characters like Eliot suck and can't do nothing
>It also looked like ass
yeah see how hideous it is

Attached: doa 4 360 is ughlee.jpg (900x506, 115K)

>I think Kamiya just replied with something to the effect if "You'd have to be some kind of retard to find big breasts erotic".

So Kamiya is a massive faggot? Makes a lot of sense I guess.

he somehow managed to make an objectively sexy character whom no one feels personally attracted toward

Attached: art - w - 1539933286201.jpg (768x768, 150K)

4 barely looked better than 2U despite being on much more powerful hardware.

>objectively sexy
pfff hahaha
>no one feels personally attracted toward
will agree on that one

C O P E
O
P
E

No it does not and he is right. Well actually scratch that its second best. Ninja Gaiden II is the best action game made.

So DOA2 looks like shit then? Reminder:
>4... also looked like ass.

threadly reminder that Tecmo also tricked Itagaki into releasing DoA2 earlier than he wanted

Is Black a lot better than Sigma? I loved 2 and Sigma 2, and thought 3:RE was decent, but I really couldn't get into Sigma 1 when I got around to playing it.

>no Rachel pics

You can beat the game by spamming three moves, each weapon has 5 combos total which you must unlock one per every ~4 levels in a 16 level campaign, the action adventure portion of the game includes tedious navigation that almost completely grinds combat to a halt, worst of which is the underwater level, bosses can throw you for heavy damage with no throw escape if you get too close to them for too long with no warning

doesn't matter
DOA2U exists
no real foul

2 was on weaker hardware. It looks good for an Xbox game but for a 360 game it would look subpar. 4 had minimal improvements despite the hardware bump, thus it looked bad. Not sure why this is confusing you.

potato face NG Rachel?
that one?
Sigmas were made easier / more casual friendly
Take that how you will

woah people are discussing something instead of jerking each other off? big surprise

>the action adventure portion of the game includes tedious navigation that almost completely grinds combat to a halt
Awful taste. Having variety in the pacing is one of the game's best features. Same reason DMC1 is better than its sequels. When there's nothing but constant enemy gauntlets the game gets to be a chore. There's a reason old beat em ups were like 30 minutes long.

What are you, gay?

I never moved anything. You just have shit reading comprehension.

This was proven to be false. His current boss at the time was caught lying his ass off by not paying Itagaki and his team a huge amount of pay along with making false claim about the sexual harassment of the female employee.
That boss is fired for a reason and isn't anywhere near the industry.

Maybe NG1 just isn't for me then. I think it was mainly the metroidvania stuff and being stuck in the one location for the second half of the game that made me lose interest.

>4 fucked up the hold system and was unbalanced. It also looked like ass for an Xbox 360 game while 2 looked good for its time.
Did I quote that right?

Attached: r - 1541151318105.png (211x239, 6K)

Stage 11 on the hardest difficulty was absolute kino.
Explosions and body parts flying everywhere. One of the most intense gaming experience I've ever had.

>When there's nothing but constant enemy gauntlets the game gets to be a chore.
So what you're saying is you don't like Action games as much as Adventure games.
Yep, I'll take your word for "best action game ever" to heart.
Don't worry, NG just gets circlejerked despite being just okay because its fanboys refuse to acknowledge flaws.

then tell me what the best action game is, smartass

I like action games, especially when they have variety. NG2 dropped the variety and suffered for it.

the truth is that there is none
all of the candidates have significant glaring flaws that makes the matter of crowing one merely a personality quiz of what defects you're willing to put up with

Attached: c - 1542734740234 - cuhrayzee games.jpg (1400x5800, 2.11M)

he has terrible acne scars and his face looks so pockmarked it resembles the texture of an oatmeal cookie

DMC1, DMC3, Bayo 1 and NGB do not have significant flaws. They have minor ones sure but nothing huge.

In what world is Sengoku Basara in the same genre as Ninja Gaiden and DMC? It's clearly a musou clone.

that you call them (that is, whatever you have recognized in your head) minor is exactly what I'm talking about

Why do people pretend God Hand was good?

Name the significant glaring flaws, shitposter-kun.

Yea Forums pretends a lot of things are unrecognized masterpieces

Because it was. Tell me what's bad about it you fucking moron!

>1UP: You know, when we reviewed the game, we warned people "This is hard," but everyone on message boards scoffed. But when everyone finally got the game the reaction was "OMG." Did you guys think "Well maybe the average gamer isn't as good as we thought, so let's make it easy on them?"
>TI: That's right. In other words, there are some people who want to beat the game, even if it means being reduced to the level of a dog; people who are not afraid to shame themselves to accomplish their goals. Sometimes in life, that type of style is necessary. Anyone who can think like that can still be a real man. The Ninja Dog difficulty setting is for men like that. So don't give up too easily!"

it's a shame he fell off the face of the earth after he left ninja theory and only made one mediocre game

>ninja theory

Black girls that look like this are called 'coons' and 'fonts' by black girls that look like they came out of an American game, and they're the most vocal and boosted to the point where it doesn't matter

DMC1 and DMC3 have inferior numbers of combos to DMC4 that ends in combat becoming repetitive
The camera control is awkward which at worst can kill you by hiding attacking enemies or changing your control when inadvertently moving into a camera shifting area
NGB can be cheesed using charge attacks and also suffers from variety in options, especially when the viability of a few far outshines the rest, to the point where those alone spammed can win the game. And again, the bosses are not exactly tough-but-fair---the aforementioned throw mechanic thus requires players largely to chip away at bosses with strikes here and there rather than engage in an actual duel.
Bayonetta has QTEs.

I have never ever seen people complaining about cute black chicks.

A black character don't need to look like a junkie or a monkey to be black. If people with white features but dark skin are not black, then Brazil is not full of niggers.

I think Bayonetta is sexy, go fuck yourselves.

fine man, but
>objectively

This.
Action games can consist of more than just combos you dullard.

Is the NG3 remake good enough that I should try it? Heard it improved a lot from the awful original 3.

It's a lot better than the vanilla version, but it's still a pretty big step down from NG '04 and NG2.

I don’t think Ninja Gaiden suffers with variety of options. Yes, you can “cheese” through the game with UTs, but even that still requires a good understanding of the combat. You still have the option to not use UTs and just freestyle. Same as in NG2(see video). This freedom, the weapon movesets and the better AI makes it rank at the very top IMO.

youtu.be/UB-ddLoMX6A

>improved 3
more like they just copy-pasted old enemies and bosses into it

define 'white'

>Action games can consist of more than just combos you dullard.
Is combat not the core of an Action game?
Or to be more specific, a "hack n' slash" "character action game"?
At a certain point, you may find yourself doing the same thing over and over again in response to the challenges presented to you. Does not the combat lose its freshness then?

Dead Or Alive, a fighting game, doesn't have this problem, because you have dozens of unique moves that all have different, interesting, even exciting properties that guarantee no one match is ever the same as the last, on top of significantly better AI combat design compared to the majority of action games, which at worst make the enemies punching bags with predictable options that pose no threat to you once memorized, or god forbid as long as you spam your attacks.

Attached: r - 1546834421146 - ryu.jpg (899x674, 124K)

NG2 is better than NGB in a lot of ways, but still suffers from things (leaving aside aesthetic decisions) like poorly designed bosses, UT's still existing, magic usage invulnerability, boring magic period, and the slight nagging feeling of the different attacks still being samey.

Yeah, what's the problem, 4fag?

Black doesn't have NG II's 15fps staircase of bloody ninja parts, though

neither do DMCs and Bayos, too

you're right, it doesn't have bloody ninja parts because there are barely any bloody ninjas

That's not my point. I'm saying that suggesting someone doesn't really like action games because he preferred Ninja Gaiden when it had more variety in its pacing/objectives is stupid. Action games can be more than just endless slugfests -- even "character action" games (not that "character action" has ever been homogeneous anyway when looking at all the games that have seen that label).

>countering isn't as available because of more stun, added side-stepping, ditched the iconic artstyle
Those are positive points though.

>bleak atmosphere, poor story that adds more than it resolves from the previous game, poorly implemented story mode, no character themes, just stage music that lacks any edge whatsoever, poor English voice acting, character flanderization
I'll give you that.

Im still shocked at how good this game still looks and controls

>character action
why is it even called that? this is a new thing, right? I remember calling it either just "action" game or "extreme action"

>90% of the fights are against a single enemy type. Combat is repetitive as fuck. Pitiful enemy variation, mostly just recolors
>Difficulty balancing all over the place, on MN the first 2 chapters are the hardest in the game. Once you hit the werewolves the difficulty becomes a joke until you hit chapter 11 in which case you're so decked out that it doesn't matter
>The delimbing system is retarded as fuck. You can kill most enemies in two strikes and spam UTs to win. You spend more time watching Ryu's retardedly long attack animations play out than actually playing the game.
>Water and underwater attacks are fucking pointless. Why are they even in the game? You never willingly attack on water except for when you're forced to against the red water demons in that section before the jellyfish mines in chapter 5
>Constant slowdowns all over the place. I hope you weren't getting a buzz going because you're about to lose it
>Beginner's traps all over the place. Enemies spawn behind you, or lunge out from behind corners.
>STILL NO FUCKING CHAPTER SELECT! I HOPE YOU LEAVE A SAVE AT YOUR FAVORITE FIGHTS OR ELSE YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME OVER AGAIN
>Weapons are unbalanced as fuck. The Talons -> + Y move delimbs nearly fucking everything with a single strike while giving you i-frames out the ass and the weapon LITERALLY HAS A FUCKING HOMING IZUNA DROP. The staff is spin to win. The Tonfa's UT is ridiculously OP and insta-kills the spiderbots and hoverbots. Dual swords do stupid damage. Compare that shit to the useless fucking Vigoorian Flail whose only decent attack is the -> + Y which is a second rate version of the Talon's attack.
>Content that should have been on the disk was DLC. DMC4, literally half a game, has the Bloody Palace mode built in while the equivalent in NG2 was fucking 12 dollars. Don't forget about the shitty 3 dollar a piece costumes!

I hoped NG2 was going to be the DMC2 of the series it sucked so much. Then 3 came out. Then Yaiba.

Attached: 1547056230051.jpg (1920x1080, 423K)

People underestimate how garbage the 360 and ps3 processors were. You'd be hard pressed to make code run faster on that in-order abomination than a 700mhz pentium 3.

>Makes one of the most sexually charged video game franchises.
>commits sexually charged actions

Pottery

>Action games can be more than just endless slugfests
as they perhaps even should be
but the prime attention must always be given to the core of what makes an action game such, especially when attempting to rank and rate those games
It would be silly to suggest DMC3 is the best action game period for having the best action game story

read the thread again illiterate dumbass

>Those are positive points though.
>more stun
necessitated the introduction of the generic 3D fighter mechanic of extended juggling in order to maintain the same potential damage output that 4 achieved by allowing the opponent to shoot themselves in the foot by constantly resetting themselves with a counter, so that the player only needed to keep staggering hits to keep the combo going; this is more fair than when you get launched and cannot play again until you eat a 20-hit combo that takes off most of your lifebar, such as is in Tekken
>added side-stepping
Breaks the RPS formula and makes hitboxes even more funky than they were; was also unnecessary when characters like Hayate and Bayman were granted special side-steps before DOA5, just as characters like Helena and Zack also had their own unique dodges. It universalized something that didn't need to be universalized, breaking the balance. It's just an attempt to pander to non-DOA fans by making the game more like other fighting games, and hence less like DOA.
>ditched the iconic artstyle
a matter of preference but it looks nothing like the past three games.

DOA5 wasn't necessarily a bad game. It was just not a good DOA game.

>You spend more time watching Ryu's retardedly long attack animations play out than actually playing the game.
Yeah that's really cringeworthy

back in those days, games were made with love, now we have commercial agendas and all sorts of political correctness.

Do you really think combat in action games is all about combos?

>At a certain point, you may find yourself doing the same thing over and over again in response to the challenges presented to you. Does not the combat lose its freshness then?
If you have enough different types of enemies that react differently to each combo, different enemy combinations, and even different types of arenas that doesn't only consist of open large rooms, then 5 combos per weapon are enough for the combat to stay fresh.

>Dead Or Alive, a fighting game, doesn't have this problem, because you have dozens of unique moves that all have different, interesting, even exciting properties that guarantee no one match is ever the same as the last
Super Turbo is one of the best fighting games out there. It has enough variety despite the small roster and movelists.

Spamming izuna drops and flying swallows won't carry you far in the harder modes. Chaining UTs require game knowledge.

>Super Turbo is one of the best fighting games out there.
really depends on what you're looking for in a fighting game

Attached: 1546297286373.png (645x773, 11K)

This needs to be updated

The lack of new game or chapter select options always annoyed me , I don't want to have to gather all the items again I just want to play the damn game.

*new game +

Cringe but redpilled

>the bosses are not exactly tough-but-fair---the aforementioned throw mechanic thus requires players largely to chip away at bosses with strikes here and there rather than engage in an actual duel.
Sounds like good old bossfights.

Still worse than NGB.

Except that character isn't black. She's latin.

Loading your final save post-final boss starts you off at the beginning of the game with all your items and equipment. You can even do a new game - where you retain all your weapons but they're all reset to level 1 and your pockets are emptied. That's how you do those braindead retarded "single-weapon only" runs for the achievements.

What would you change?

Well, we know where your taste in games lie.

Attached: r - 1478944736546.gif (213x199, 341K)

The sequel was rushed out of the door so they could fire Itagaki. It's still a better game than most of the other action games out there.

This game is actually in Gamepass too.

Attached: Lisa.jpg (469x246, 81K)

How about ditching counters AND extensive juggles altogether?

>It was just not a good DOA game.
And that's a good thing.

Xbox Classic has soul.
Xbox 360 was soulless
Xbox One is post-soulless
Xbox One S is ultra-post-soullessness

You just destroyed the dreams of all the stupid cucks who keep calling her black.

Attached: 1550266378241.jpg (270x480, 12K)

You could say that about anything. MvC or GG diehards might not find as much to love, but ST is still a widely admired and played fighting game.

Why do stupid fucking Americans always think any girl who has "dark" skin is automatically black? Of course fucking lisa is a latina. Her nickanme is La Mariposa for fucks sake.

Definitely worth playing. I really like the red smoke grab counter thing implemented, and the gore is nice and chunky too. Can tell there's more recovery on everything, so it feels heavier than the other two games.

360 had soul until Kinect happened.

If you add Fairy Bloom Freesia to that list then you can also add Muramasa and Odin Sphere...

So, what, 2 years it had soul? thats maybe 20% of its lifetime?

Not anymore. Nu DOA fags who just play the game for fapbait shit know her as Lisa because the faggot in charge now retconned everything. She is officially black now.

Not to mention NG: Black actually has unlockables and a shit ton at that. In NG2 there were few alt costumes and ALL of them were DLC. The only unlockables were fucking recolors of his default costume.

Can't the 360 play all og Xbox games, too? So at least a part of that soul got carried overn

360 was already out for 5 years when Kinect was released.

Looking through his exchanges with fans on his FB is very wholesome.

Definitely not 30+ hits combos, bloated movelists and 3hrs long blockstrings. I like my combat to have room for other playstyles than just rushdown.

>Ninja Gaiden Black is a good gam-

Remember this?

Attached: NGDSfinalboxshot.jpg (1542x1382, 334K)

No. By AAA standards vanilla 3 is a 1/10. NG3RE is a 3/10. Yes, it's better than vanilla but it's polished turd tier. I like how the devs upped the enemy count and crammed in more filler fights (skulls, no more stupid 'arm hurts' cinematics) but most of the level design doesn't suit it at all. In NG2 the levels are unrealistically big and wide open because they're combat arenas while in NG3 most levels and sections are small and cramped so you don't really have that freedom of movement that you need to really kick ass. While RE has much content than Vanilla 3 all of it is just ported from Sigma 2 except for the character's costumes and movesets. The long ass combo chains are pointless too because even the weakest fucking enemies will block or evade your attack on about the third strike about a third of the time. I've played RE and I don't think I've EVER pulled off any of the long combos on any of the enemies. Coupled that with other bullshit: you know how in NG2 enemies can only attack you two at a time, one after another? That's why every enemy has either a short combo or a long combo attack so they overlap. In NG3RE every enemy in a very small combo with little to no windup and they all charge you at once so it's really difficult to get a feel for the combat - there are also no warning sounds or anything like in DMC or Bayo so a lot of the time when you're hit it feels cheap as fuck. Most of the bosses have that goddamn block or evade mechanic where your attacks either bounce off them or whiff right through them. Nearly every boss feels like NG2!Elizabet.

I waited until RE was $10 before I picked it up and I still don't feel it's worth that price point or the time spent playing.

>will be as mechanically pleasing
It's not hard to be as mechanically pleasing as spam blade spin/sign of the cross/iai quickdraw/whirlwind

>pic related
Finally a challenge.

I do. It's pretty good. It's interesting how much the game manages to feel like the other 3D Ninja Gaiden games despite the drastic changes. One of the better DS games to make use of its novelty. I imagine it's a bitch to emulate, though, and is probably doomed to further obscurity as a result.

you and they don't understand what "black" means
if he's saying that she's purely Amerinidian with no admixture, then okay, but that's not exactly what I'm reading here

Attached: r - 1537917735769.png (500x522, 159K)

NGB is pretty repetitive because of how small your list of actually useful moves is, unless you go out of your way to force yourself to play the game in an inefficient manner. I'd consider that a significant flaw.

maybe because black doesn't necessarily mean pure negroid like retarded euros/3rdworlders mistakenly believe is the usage

Did any of you play the DOA6 demo? How is it? Asking here since you guys seem to know a lot more than the usual waifufaggot

You could have taken the opportunity to post a picture of her

>NGB can be cheesed using charge attacks and also suffers from variety in options, especially when the viability of a few far outshines the rest, to the point where those alone spammed can win the game
That's your fault, not the game's. Nobody is forcing you to play that way.

>Definitely not 30+ hits combos
fair
>bloated movelists
if you're talking about the same move programmed multiple times with different animations, sure
>and 3hrs long blockstrings
depends on what the game mechanics are in the way of both additional offensive and defensive options. Under Night In-Birth for example fails at this for only having throws and push-blocks. so that it's a pointless tug-of-war
>I like my combat to have room for other playstyles than just rushdown.
I agree.

the first would slow the game down

Well which games other than ST and pre 5 DOA are like this? I don't know a lot about fighting games, sorry.

'90s 2D fighting games (the ones played on Fightcade or old consoles like SNES, commonly referred to as "traditional", "footsies-based", "poke-heavy", "ground-based", "oldschool", "SF-clones", they were usually made by Capcom and SNK) and newer games that are throwback to that style (Vanguard Princess, Koihime Enbu, Aquapazza, Akatsuki, Yatagarasu), Soul Calibur pre-4, Virtua Fighter, some less commonly played games such as Power Stone, Def Jam: Fight for NY, Gundam VS series and even Arms, and then Divekick, Bushido Blade, Nidhogg, Slice Dice and Rice and also For Honor.

I can't be the only one who played this shit

Why? Because the attacking player would keep frame advantage? How about making shorter strings and put more pushback to moves? And to compensate for shorter combos, just make individual moves do more damage.

Ah okay, thanks a lot. I'm going to pick up some of the games you mentioned.

I do and yet I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot staff

I'd recommend Project M and Brawl Minus for those traits
Darkstalkers 2 and 3 are also similar

But if you're super really new to fighting games, you almost basically could just start anywhere and slowly come to an understanding about what sort of appeal these games would have for you, and tailor your future pick-ups toward that understanding.

Me personally need cuhrayzee in my games but hate all the traits in that list So that's why I care less for, for example, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and more for Darkstalkers, though I play both

That bad, huh?

the game was rushed by msoft, cookie monster would have re-released had he not butted heads with KT

Ironically, I enjoyed Smash 64 the most out of this pic. The cuhrayzee is what's preventing me from enjoying Melee, PM and Brawl- and Brawl, Wii U and Ultimate just feel too damn slow and floaty.

Itagaki's a one-hit wonder (he didn't even get the game right the first time too), I like this game a lot too but Itagaki probably would never top it anyway and his later work is nothing special.

less enemies onscreen and you're not fighting suicide-bombers all the time.

l-cancelling is a shitty mechanic

It doesnt look like a 360 game at all. It also has garbage level design and camera. Some shitty controls to (the bow). NG2 is an infinitely better game even if the balance is worse

true, but the need for l-cancelling is a shitty design decision

I will never see the Smash games as fighting games, but I really enjoy 64 and I did like Brawls story mode and music.

And somehow, NG2 managed to have an even worse camera and more shitty bow sections.

I'm sure eventually he would have just gone "Fuck it" and just ported DOA4 Ryu into the next Ninja Gaiden and made the best action game of all time

black is the director's cut, where as sigma is like the assembly cut. both bring different things but are great in their own way. If you've got the xboner, this game should be in your library regardless of any prior experience, it's a top 5 xbox game when xbox had games.

git gud

Yeah right, as if

>I will never see the Smash games as fighting games
that's nice dear

>The cuhrayzee is what's preventing me from enjoying Melee, PM and Brawl-
I don't get you people

Top 5 Xbox game list that doesn't include Ninja Gaiden:
>Dead Or Alive 3
>Jet Set Radio Future
>Fable
>Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
>Star Wars: Battlefront

That pic is real fitting for you.

this has to be the reason they haven't ported it to the xbone, they're trying figure it out without burning a hole through the console

>They changed the physics so that juggling is easier, countering isn't as available because of more stun, added side-stepping,

But those things make the game more competitive, like Tekken.

I like 7-8 foot tall women though

>is pretty repetitive because of how small your list of actually useful moves is, unless you go out of your way to force yourself to play the game in an inefficient manner.
This describes every action game ever.

It's solid. It's also likely going to die quickly like every DOA game does.

Valhalla still releases games. They just released Naruto and Boruto Shinobi Strikers.

Soleil is a subsidiary of Valhalla.

>This describes every action game ever.
Except DMC4 solely, which only just barely bucks the trend

Because Itagaki + Team Ninja is equivalent to reuniting the WW2 Allies. Untouchable, the absolute peak. Anything is possible with them. Hence why the series went to garbage as soon as they started ripping Itagaki out of the team.

>looks like an early 360 game
It looks even better on the Xbox one at 1080p

Secretaries/Assistants in any major company only exist to take dick anyways. Most of their responsibilities could be done by an automated system or 1 person + automation at a rate of 30 personnel per secretary.

Are these self portraits?

We need NG2 and 3RE on Xbox One. What are they waiting for?

I like NG3: RE.

Ninja Gaiden Collection in the works.

If only, user. If only.

Is it the regular releases or sigma? The kino collection would be sigma 1, regular 2, and 3RE

I hope the new Samurai Shodown will keep its roots.

It was just a thought, user.

>PS4 version gets, Sigma, Sigma 2, and 3RE
>XBone gets Black, Sigma 2, and 3RE
>Switch gets Black, Sigma 2, and 3RE with the NES games and the arcade game as unlockables

Happy to see a Ninja Gaiden thread go this long. Haven't seen one this popular for awhile.

There was a time when we couldn't have them because one autist kept throwing shitfits about 3RE.

>sigma 2

Ill just stick with my 360 then...
