Taking out the trash
Who?
Planning mass layoffs
in these layoffs they usually get rid of non-essential people, like community managers
Increasing profits by reducing expenses.
Outsourcing jobs to eastern europe unironically
Shit finna hit the fan. Civilization was a mistake
>mfw strike out on my own to form my own company
>total loser currently 0 dollars per month
>one day i will make it and i will never get laid off because its all mine
and then there are people who kiss their kids and tell them to work for someone else like a cuckold
truly working for yourself and making 0 $ is unironically better then being someones bitch and having to watch what you say because your lively hood depends on being the perfect lil goy
If you haven't noticed the vidya industry desperately wants to be like Hollywood. One of the things they're trying to mimic is Hollywood's current absolutely retarded trend of instead of having a moderate budget for their projects and expect fair returns back, they are blowing their load with insane budgets on a single product via marketing and hoping it'll become a super successful franchise.
Essentially, every company has become EA.
how do you pay rent though?
>he doesnt own his house
Owning tends to cost more in the long run while also tying you down uselessly.
Owning is what brainlets do.
Hoarding their wealth and ignoring the future.
None of these big corporations has the balls to innovate anymore.
1. How did you pay it since your company isn't making anything
2. How do you pay the taxes on your home?
>rent cost 1k now
>mortgages are cheaper then rent
>dead game laying off employees
You dont own your house either. Dont pay taxes for a year. See what happens
good goy
good luck getting a mortgage unless you're making >2500 a month
Probably realizing that hiring social media influencers and diversity specialists was a waste of company money. Though they could just be replacing everyone with cheaper pajeets.

>Downsizing the business and publishing sections to NCsoft since they can provide the exact same roles
>Removing people similar to jessica price, who's still bitching about anet
>no change of plans in future content
It's just booting people that eat into their expenses
As long as the Cantha expansion is good, idgaf what they do.
>if only you knew how bad things are about to get
So do we actually know already what kind of employees did Blizzard fire? Were it developers, useless middleman leeches or both?
>the week of the 10th anniversary of Obama's inauguration
>absolute bloodbath of layoffs commences in journalism and """"""""""game development""""""""""
So what grant did he sign into law that is now expired?
They were all community managers, eSports personnel, etc. on the lists making the rounds and as far as I know Blizzard opened like 150 game development positions immediately after.
I make $1700 a month after taxes and have a mortgage. The person in our office making $12.hr has a fucking mortgage.
Where you getting this $2500/mo shit?
>yfw you realize Anet will never make a true sequel to Guild Wars
2 was shit.
>"Time for a sequel, who's got any ideas?"
>"Guild Wars but without any Guilds warring"
'Dragon Wars' sounds extremely generic though, unless they gave the 'natural disasters' that are the dragons a term.
I own my own company and it sucks. You don't know what each month is going to make you. I've had some months were I make $5k and others I make $500.
It's still better than wageslaving for a company that actively hates you. I'm sad that it took a friend at work committing suicide because he hated the place so much before I put my foot down and said enough.
2 biggest expenses most businesses have.
>Brick & mortar
>Employees
Its easier to lay people off than look for a new office. Leases are a bitch
keep at it bro. I sold my startup and I never have to work another day in my life. Bought a 220k house with a plot of land in a small WHITE community. Everybody is so nice and friendly.
I worked 10 years for a business ran by multi millionaires. They sold the business and I got sacked. I didn't get shit. Told myself I'll never be a wage cuck ever again.
>So what grant did he sign into law that is now expired?
There was apparently some sort of slush fund which was created right after Obama lifted the law that forbids the US government from engaing in propaganda.
Same Fund didnt get renewed the start of 2018, and finally ran out at the end of it apparently.

>The legislation authorized funding of $160 million over a two-year-period.[1][7]
>Blizzard to launch 'global diversity and inclusion initiative', aims to boost women and minority group employment figures By Joe Donnelly 2017-08-14
>Harris, Gardiner (4 March 2018). "State Dept. Was Granted $120 Million to Fight Russian Meddling. It Has Spent $0". The New York Times.
Really oodles the noodles.
Because they're all hiring hundreds of people who do nothing for useless made-up positions that exist to meet diversity quotas. Look at them complaining about layoffs on social media, they're always in QA or something like "Narrative Designer" or "Social Media Assistant Manager"
>Owning tends to cost more in the long run while also tying you down uselessly.
Literal retard.
I wish you godspeed.
All non stem should be paid no more than minimum wage. It annoys me to see non stem people in well paid jobs as they studied easy fun things in college whereas I had to study shit I hated to get paid well.
industry is crashing (hopefully)
or they're just culling the diversity hires who dont actually contribute anything
>dying MMO laying off people
It's not like anet has a new game in development, and it seems like they don't produce many expansions or content drops either. What are they all doing? That's when Mr. Korean Corporate Manager decides it's time to clean house.
>years later the game un-optimized trash
>story is trash
>gameplay is trash
>end-game is trash
The faster Guild Wars brand gets sold to some Chinese company the better.
renting is so stupidly fucking expensive, even working full time you end up giving up over half your check minimum to rent and utilities in even modest apartments
the only way to overcome this is to either live in the cheapest studio you can find or split rent in some claustrophobic space with a stranger
>Sell crap and kill your own studios
Why?
Base game was irredeemable garbage but the two expansions made it somewhat worthwhile. Still has some of the most boring, braindead gameplay of any MMO I've ever played.
