GBF is like a mobile game MMO with Korean MMO levels of grind, so if that sort of thing is appealing to you, go for it. You'll spend years working up the ladder grinding for the next big weapon to add to your pool so you can do more damage and then more quickly kill bosses to collect more weapons until a new boss comes with better weapons etc. FGO is more about playing for the story, gameplay is average at best. You should stay away from gachashit period though.

The game was always bad, though the story (and JUST the story) has gotten better. The gacha has very slightly improved since release (3 quartz summons now vs 4 quartz), but its still absolute dogshit, like most of the rest of the game.

The issue is that the whole thing is more a chunni fantasy than actual concrete story. Rules get broken entire fucking time.

And majority of discussion is power level wank. It have some nice interactions but unless you are really into this kind of thing it don't worth.

The rule 63 spin on every Servant happened because of FGO. Originally it was supposed to only be Arthur, and then it included Nero/Mordred who are essentially just straight up clones of Arthur. Then when the fate franchise died and became the gambling hell that it is today, they just made every new servant they introduced into girls because waifus and porn sells.

It's more like every Type Moon work is a piece in the puzzle of their multiverse. You'll hear a lot about the Mage Association across several of their stories, or the Atlas Institute creating doomsday weapons deep underground, or the church controlling grail wars in the shadows, things like that. It's rarely ever front and center, but it's essentially the author mentioning that things are indeed happening beyond the setting of the current story taking place, which gives the world a more expansive feel.

GBF story and characterization is pretty damn bland and boring. I end up only caring a bit during certain events, since the cookie cutter as shit main cast usually isn't involved. Mobile games will always have shit gameplay because mobile is an awful platform to play games on, so being king of a massive pile of shit there is hardly a point of pride. Story is literally the only thing mobage can do as well as a normal console/pc game, so these companies should focus solely on that.

Just because FGO is literally unable to do anything except story right doesn't mean the whole genre is dogshit. The sense of progression and general gameplay of GBF is straight out of an early JRPG, and im partial to the great and consistent (unlike fgo, looking at you cleopatra) artwork. Story is passable, though not as bad as the likes of some of FGO's chapters, and so on and so forth.

And pulling isnt as stressful and unrewarding as FGO.

It's complicated, DEEN's adaptation start off as the Fate route then ends with an original fused mess ending. That was because at the time there was no plan to adapt the two other routes, but then FateZero came along, became extremely popular and Ufotable was asked to adapt UBW and Heaven's Feel.
I guess they didn't adapt the Fate route because they either though Deen's adaptation was sufficent or that it was a really boring route to go through after already having watched Zero (or maybe both)

God-forged arms can also be forged in the Moon Cell because Unlimited Blade Works is more powerful there.

Fate really plays fast and loose with race. You start with a japanese ginger, who then becomes a ripped mulatto, who then becomes Wesley Snipes.

What I'd like to see is them taking small cool parts that they couldn't use from other routes and incorporate them into a Fate adaptation. One of my gripes about the Fate route is how underutilized Shirou's Gradation Air is. And another gripe is how we probably won't get to see Crane Wing in the Heaven's Feel adaptation. So what if Shirou used a modified version of Crane Wing on Kotomine and finishing with a Azoth stab?

The way they handled it in UBW was perfectly fine. Fate wasn't that good anyway, and most of the themes and scenarios it presents are also touched upon in Fate/Zero. Fate is the route everyone skips when re-reading the VN for good reason. It's entirely set-up, and for the adaptations, F/Z does the set-up and exposition perfectly fine.

UBW has a lot of exposition too, even some that was already told in Fate.

HF is really the only one that skips nearly all of it

Nasu wanted to do a revamped Fate adaptation. Director was a UBWfag and wanted so he begged to do UBW instead.

Kaleidoscope is wasted on Drake since she has a 50% battery (which you should max out, by the way. Battery skills like that should be your highest priority because they open up new 3-turn farm routes). Stick your Holy Night Supper (you have one, right?) on Drake so she can do a buffed NP right from turn one and give that Scope to Alter, she has a great NP but horrible gen so it's a good fit.

That's mostly replaced by enemy servant maneuvers. Enemy Lancelot can disguise himself as a shadow servant, and you have to find him and stop him from calling reinforcements, Drake can bombard the masters position so you have to immediately stop her before she kills them, Robin can go invisible and you have to track him down, things like that. Gameplay is streamlined to be less tedious, but it's still ultimately a musou, and even on hard the game is still easy. Also the story seems pretty skippable if you're following the Extraverse. Where in Extella it was Hakuno's story of saving Altera, this one is like FGO where the master is more a backdrop and it's all about Charlemagne.

This. So long as you don't take it seriously, it's actually pretty amusing. Sometimes they'll have a little factoid amidst all the ridiculousness that means they at least looked things up. Cu being forced to help Medb in the most recent JP summer event because of one of his geas was a nice plot contrivance that makes sense.

Been playing since launch, and apart from my reroll I haver never once gotten any servant I've specifically aimed for.

Dragalia Lost is definitely the least enjoyable gacha. You get the guaranteed SSR opening so you know you're getting something, then they have the gall to give you a fucking wrymprint. And SRs can transform into SSRs, which is great in and of itself, but they don't show you that unless you go through the entire fucking roll, of which you are shown only SRs at best, so you skip through it. I've had two times now where I've rolled, saw that I got shit, skipped, and then was denied an SSR reveal. Just fucking rookie mistakes from cygames, they're usually smarter than this.
