my personal thoughts on Bloodlines is this: it's not my favorite game of the year all years by any stretch, but it is a game that is well worth trying to play simply for the writing and setting. It's also one of those games where if you don't like it by the time you get halfway through, you can safely drop it without any worry since the second half of the game is far inferior to the first half.
That's fair if you've played games that came out 10 years after the fact, but you've got to picture how this game was when it came out at the time. Nobody had really done anything like it before, not the same theme least ways. It has not aged well at all, same as games like System Shock, Thief, Deus Ex etc. but they remain some of the best games of their time for a reason.

what I think is going on, the real deal was, she has to PAY (money) her depts to him, for her getting her night club. So he gets a part of the night club profits. Now I assume for one part the profits aren't always to the liking of the mafia boss and too low to truley pay off the dept. I assume getting that building was extremely expensive AND he knew that before. I am pretty sure his idea was to make her fuck him, because he knew she would't be able to pay the debts. So he gets both money and intercourse. She feels trapped and wants you to get her out of it. In return you get club profits which is are small, but nice. Because you are a vampire you don't ask her for intercourse :o

Here is what you need to do according to another board (too long ago to remember what I did there, I just remember I needed multiple tries to do this): Enter the password to turn off the pumps. Then wait a moment and turn them back on, then book it for the underwater tunnel with the fan asap because you only get a short time before the fan's current becomes too strong. Take the tunnel on the right once you get to the fan.

nWoD was actually pretty good once you got over the shock of the old vampire clans being gone, and even then they got added back in. The lack of an overarching metaplot was one of the best things that ever happened to WoD. Auto successes streamlined the playing experience. And holy fuck Hunter and Changeling actually became great games, especially Changeling. Went from being shit tier in oWoD to becoming their best game.

Bloodlust Shadowhunter is probably the closest thing to VtMB if you want another vampire RPG, and it's a little janky, but still good. Yup. Mages are pretty much gods in the world of darkness. Even most supernatural beings are not aware of their presence, except for the elders of most clans and they stay WAY out of their way.
The only entities stronger than them are demons, and thats a whole separate can of weird. Demons in WoD are basically angels that are creations of some sentient god computer but managed to game some form of sentience and cast themselves out to earth.
IIRC mages got cucked hard when WW released cross-over runes, with everybody and their grandmas being able to use countermagic against them.

How long does it take for firearms to get good? I just hit downtown with my firearms already at 7 and celerity 2 and the parking garage was fucking ass. Yeah, I never had a problem with it and think the system is fine if you actually pay attention to how it works. I think there's a manual in one of the installation folders that explains a little more how it works too. The combat gets a little button mashy around the sewers and some of the final levels because of how much defense the enemies there have, but I always thought it was fun. I feel like a lot of people who complain about the combat just want it to play like a straight action game, or they don't pay attention to what the game is telling them on how to use it.

It's kinda depressing we'll probably never get another game set in the World of Darkness setting that has that particular feel that Bloodlines managed to achieve. There's been rumours of a spiritual successor using the setting as well as that Werewolf game, but I have little faith they'll reach that sheer feeling that's hard to even really put words on. Even as broken as the game was, the community managed to patch it up, add in their own custom content, it's great.
I would like to se a successful follow up to Bloodlines, but I just don't have any hope in it. At least I won't be disappointed if it sucks.
