Mount & Blade is the best for playing a woman character imo. You get all the same equipment the male characters have, and when you equip them they look pretty much the same. And you don't get any of that boob armor shit unless you're playing with mods.
Also the playstyle is slightly different which is neat. Since the game takes place in a sort of fictional medieval setting, you have to work harder than the men in order to get noticed by nobles and the like.

Full armor sets should be full armor for both genders, lighter things should be the same, silly costumes from silly birds should be equally silly, and the designated slutwear outfit should be slutwear for both genders.

I'm using Repeat Offender and Crit Boost, I figure the slight affinity loss is made up by the boost in damage, and it's much easier to just repeatedly hit the monster instead of try to exploit weak points when they can one or twoshot me at any point too. Especially for monsters that don't have weak points at all.

with very very minor exceptions there are no armor skills that are 100% essential to handle endgame content, and defense values only matter if you're getting hit a lot. Finding a good looking mixed set that works with a personal charm, or swapping out a blade helm for a gunner with slightly different stats and slots is a fulfilling element of gameplay to me; you might as well just mod the game and replace every slot with only your preferred set's model if you're set on vanity.
Becoming proficient enough to ditch crutches/training wheels via practice is a good thing, as is replacing them with stuff like AuX instead

Sometimes there are certain monster attacks that I get hit by regardless of what I do because they're so wide-reaching and sudden or I just get unlucky, and so I want the defense to survive that. Also, for monsters that have ~20000 HP and take the full 50 minutes, like EX Deviants, I do want to optimize on my armor skills to be able to finish the quest in time. The last time I solo'd an EX Deviant, I won with literally 26 seconds to spare.

I don't really put myself in the character's shoes, more I think of them like an author would with the characters they write.
Ultimately there's no single reason, I just look at both and go with whatever suits the game/idea best.
