It is a fun game mired by fucking Blizzard balancing, OP heroes, a metagame so prevalent that even in the lowest tiers of competition there is significant influence, overhype, and perhaps too much of a need to be eSports friendly. Overwatch fails on both fronts.

It fails as a game because its rife with poor balance, toxic players, throwers, and smurfs. 80% of your matches aren't determined by skill but by sheer luck that you aren't paired with throwers.

On the tumblr side it fails not because some characters are queer but because characters and plots go absolutely fucking nowhere. Almost 3 years in and cinematic wise we are STILL at the recall intro phase of the plot. Michael Chu once admitted that tumblr came up with vastly more interesting backstory for Reaper than his own fucking team. They had free fucking advertisements and merchandise buys from gays, and women perverts and all they do AT BEST is give them bait skins. They have nothing to go off of to blast social media with thousands of ship pics.

There were so many more problems with the game that i can't even remember at launch than there are now.

The match to match gameplay feels like a complete gamble and the overwhelming majority of your matches feel like you're either stomping the enemy team or your team is getting rectally ravaged. This plus Blizzard balancing and their map design just make for an awfully grating game if your'e taking it even a bit serious. If you don't care much about your rating and play whatever you want then it's a bit more fun.

game’s trying to be inclusive with characters with writing put into them but it’s also an FPS where the main objective is to murder said characters and they respawn so it’s impossible to take any of the storytelling seriously

Fucking CTF is the only mode that feels good to me because there's a consistent role setup in that you have an attack party, and defensive heroes to guard your shit. Regardless of fucking ultimates, the game benefits from that inherent structure to it, otherwise it's like the wild west.
