so they fit the hands of japanese people better.

Nintendie hands are just big enough to grasp them properly

Easier for low test people

Because the GameCube was designed for use by infants

because nintendo saw how piss easy it was to pirate dreamcast games, got paranoid and thought dvds would suffer the same shit, so they introduced mini discs.

Proprietary hardware is a long standing Nintendo technique to minimize piracy, enaure the quality of third party games, and charge licensing fees.

had less graphics to fit on the disc so they made the discs smaller

This looks like a fucking chocolate chip cookie.

So the system could be disc-based but Nintendo could still have a proprietary medium for licensing deals.

I'm not seeing it... Are you ok? Do you need some lunch?

to help fight piracy.
people were able to just make DVD copies of PS2 and xbox games pretty easily at the time. (Half my high school was doing it.)

it didnt take long for the mini DVDs to be sold to the public anyways.

OR AS I CALL IT, THE NINTENDO SHITCUBE!

Because the disc player in the GC couldn't fit normal sized disks.

Fatass

They don't hold as much graphics. If they filled in the hole, they could hold a bit more.

Why do you keep making the same thread over and over?

So Nintendo could use CAV. Basically just a layer of proprietary specification so they don't have to pay as much in royalties but can also charge more.

This is the real answer

>Proprietary hardware is a long standing Nintendo technique to minimize piracy
That hasn't been Nintendo's for a long time now. Sony picked up that torch and ran with it.
Look at the Wii with its SD card slot, and then look at the PSP AND the Vita.

20 yous and I’ll shove my 4 inch penis through my Melee disc

Games in the early 2000's never took more than 2 cds, even on PC, except for games with lots of FMVs and voices.
2 cds = about 1.4gb = size of a gamecube mini-dvd

sure, but the size doesn't really matter here for once
what's your girth?

Funny thing is, Dreamcast didn’t use CD’s. It used a proprietarydisc format too (why DC games won’t fit on CD without compression).

I think ither major factor were to 1. Make the hardware smaller 2. Smaller disc means less laser travel, means less prone to failure

Except with a modded gamecube you could easily burn games onto blank mini discs and play them anyway

MiniDVD isn't really proprietary. Even though they did not use stock ones. But same goes for any DVD based system. Truth is nintendo wanted the gamecube to be small and portable as in easy to take to a friend's house (hence the handle to grab). This misguided design choice gave them 1.5 GB per game to work with, instead of the 4.7 GB you could have on a standard DVD.

Both reasons apply. another funny thing? You could burn Gamecube games at regulard dvds, open your gc case and run them fine.
You had to have a proper screwdrive to open the gamecube, but there was this trick where you burned a pen to use it as a screwdriver.

I bet that they could have fitted dvds if the engineering team tried hard enough.
