what will most likely start happening is Smart TVs will start having the capabilities to run AAA games through some streaming service and most game devs will start migrating to there. It's already kind of started with some Smart TVs having Steam built in.

Not sure if that would happen in an over saturated console market this time. Porting a game to a bunch of systems is a lot easier than it was in the days of the first crash, so game studios might just be able to put their games on whatever platforms and only the console makers would suffer
