That game was fun until I found out that you can auto-aim at the enemies, as long as they are on the screen. It was much better when I had to manually aim. But there was no going back after knowing.
I bought this the other day because it was on my wishlist even though I don't remember putting it there. Gonna play it this weekend
Yeah, I remember that being a revelation when I was a kid
Anyone remember Loaded? Those cutscenes were so bizzare
G-POLICE is a good game and they should make another God damn it
I hope cyberpunk has a similar vibe to the cutscenes in this game
Those types of games had such good tone and atmosphere for their settings
I had a demo for that on PC. Wish I found the retail version.
My nigga
Wasn’t there a ps2 sequel?
Best PS1 game coming through
So many games about futuristic cops
my brother got this in a rental at blockbuster by accident, really fun game.
Good Morning
Found a sealed copy of this for 15 bucks last year. It's not bad.
Tbh
>I did not like the ps1 when it released in the 90s
SEGA FANBOY
>but i give it a try and holy shit
>it's now my beast console of all time
also sega fucked up big time
add this add that
I wish this series wasn't dead.
I nearly didn't see this thread because of all the fog
Noice
>that game where 90% of people who recognise it only played the demo
most PS games had better ways of hiding it than others did
Hey, I had that demo.
Without a fucking doubt.
I loved the secret levels where you played a heavily armed squad car. The final mission in the giant half built capital ship was annoying though, because those weird blue flying space suit mech things always shit me up.
Yep, I was remembering G-Police
>Cheat all the weapons in
>fly around the domes, blowing up all the red motorcycles for speeding and watching their parts shoot off into the sides of buildings
Such a fun game.
>Implying you know this
WE HAVE EXPLOSIVE
I didn’t know that, that’s so cool
PS1 has so many fucking games. This experimental era of 3d games was amazing
where my niggas at
i love them long boxes
I forgot how bad the fog was.
Klonoa is like a Nintendo quality platformer that flew under the radar, it's kind of a shame.
Thats max draw distance - as the game runs an unlocked framerate via overclocking in emulators you can max draw distance and field of view without tanking fps.
Ridge racer looks fucking fantastic on emulators that let you multiple internal resolution - the clean art style and distinct colours make it very pleasant to look at.
>no mention of destruction derby
ONE FUCKING JOB user.
PANTALOON
I only had dream champ on the gba, I always thought he was a C-list nintendo character who got forgotten.
Technically cheating as this webm is from a fixed version of the PC port but its more well known on the ps1.
No-one in Yea Forums is old enough to remember Playstation 1 games...
A highly underrated game.
>90 second video
>Only 12 seconds are actual gameplay
It's about the game on a demo disc.
Go watch a youtube video for gameplay
Is there a ps1 game like this where you control a police car?
My personal favourite.
Why does this game cost so much nowadays?
Also pic related for me, Xpander is such a great track.
i just want a new tenchu, dammit
I'm convinced the external camera exists just to ensure you lose.
Tekna is just a shit doom clone so you aren't missing anything.
Duuuuuuuuuude thaaaaaaaaaaaank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
HOLY FUCK LITERALLY YEARS SEARCHING THIS
It was the same way with the PS2. Then everything went to shit in the 7th generation.
it was great
G-Police was kino af, can't remember is the sequel was any good or not though.
Internal view is clearly how it is meant to be played.
How come this was the only game aside Black that got Calypso right?
I always found it crazy how people used to say "early 3D wasn't as good as the 5th generation.". I always preferred the 6th generation of games to the 5th. Hell, in this thread alone there's a huge diversity of high quality games.
The PS1 and PS2 games are stupidly good, would definitely recommend checking them out.
Oh my god I forgot about this...
Weapons of justice was shit.
I played that demo
So many cool games and I only played half of them on demos
Yeah Im so happy I actually asked this years ago on a gaming forum, nobody knew the game so I just forgot
It was about as good as the first one, but I think the visuals were a little worse. It also ends on a huge cliffhanger, and they never made a third game.
A solid, but horribly forgotten game.
Fuck off, everyone in this thread is
Was biofreaks any good!
Not the point though is it? I'm saying that was another game in the franchise.
This, this used to frustrate the shit out of me as a kid
that there*
>HEY MAN WATCH THE PAINT
the demo for this was crazy
It wasnt the prettiest game but holy fuck wasnt it fun to throw your friend corpse at the competition
Such a shame, it was such a cool idea
I’d love to see an fps where you’re like a beat cop or something from this franchise
I think it was the first level.
The game gets only better.
But the AI is really dump.
Everything else is awesome about this game.
And for me it has the best multiplayer on psx.
my nigga
>had this game, loved it
>One day thought it deleted a game on my memory card
>give the game to a friend
Shit was really dumb of me, I at least already beat the game though. Still have that menu theme stuck in my head.
youtube.com
youtube.com
I can still vividly remember renting this and playing it with a friend in my moms room, shit was a lot of fun.
Fuck
Childhood core
>I can still vividly remember renting this and playing it with a friend in my moms room
The console was in your mom's room? Did she play vidya too?
Dude fucking thank you. I've been trying to find this game for years. I had the demo when I was kid and I loved playing it
TEMPTATION
youtu.be
that fucking soundtrack
oh god i can hear it in my minds ear
Remember: GRIP exists due to the urge to revive rollcage.
If i ever make it to the year 2097 and we don't have anti-gravity racing or bloodsports I will fucking kms
I was playing this earlier. It is fun and has real good production values. Slightly corny dub, and the MC is a funny asshole but very impressive visuals for a PlayStation game. Kind of like an Anime Bomberman.
I just remember this because the guy from Bottom kept bitching about every move you made.
I loved it.
>projecting
my nigga
Hello.
Follow me.
Rik Mayall mocking you for being shit was the best.
So many lines of this are ingrained in my brain. It is probably the game along with future cop I played the most as a kid.
No turkey? It's Christmas!
Rip ;_;
Okay.
DD2 is far superior. Nothing beats the arenas where you smash each other up.
>YER RADIATORS BLOWIN'
>YER BLOWIN UP!
Oh fuck I miss that game. But most of all I miss the way I used to look at games. It seemed plausible to me to somehow break out of bounds of the racing track and have a whole city or landscape to drive around on. I didn't even consider that there would be nothing there.
>replay this game
>it kind of sucks
Art style and presentation are great, but the platforming and momentum are kinda fucked. Just trying to jump on enemies is weirdly difficult.
I beat this game last Halloween, it and 1 are really solid games. 2 got really frustrating near the end though. Still, I always loved how 2 gave you a goddamn chain gun.
Also I have no idea how I beat that boxing mini game as a kid, shit was brutal.
i think we all wish we could go back to that mindset
>sleepover around a friends
>play die hard trilogy all evening
>with the cheats on for infinite ammo, all weapons and enemies fly to heaven
>mishear one of the hostages saying "GOD!" as "GAY!" laugh like a retard while murdering him and all his friends
>the under construction map where everything is destructable
The Die Hard 1 game was the best.
only played the sequel
good stuff
Its actually a result of poor emulation. Play it on an actual PS1 and it's nowhere near as super fast and crazy.
Its also broken in the races too. You can never win when the AI is flying around at lightning speeds like this.
this needs remastering
>EA
fug
Bullshit for several reasons;
1) That webm is from total destruction mode - the A.I soley focuses on you and thats why they drive so fast.
2) Races can be won with good driving in stock car and wreckin's racing but its pointless to try in wreckin' racing as a.i points are relatively fixed (i.e deivision one cars will always score 170-220pts a race regardless of what happens).
3) The game is noted for its difficulty - the pro car can keep up if you git gud.
>Porsche Challenge
>San Fran map
>find a bug where if you ram a tram at the right speed and angle your car moves at fucking light speed or goes apeshit spinning everywhere
>play with my sister on two player, each of us trying to uncover the mystery behind the reality warping trams
>each trying to save each other from the fate of eternal crazed spinning by ramming the person infected by the glitch, sometimes both getting the effect
I miss those days.
Shit I came here to post this, but you beat me to it. Good taste.
Demo disc 42. Net Yaroze Hall of Fame, Clone, Psychon, Terra fuckin' Incognita.
This has lasted me for 20 years, complete with period Rayman sticker from the magazine.
Here an obscure one i'm sure few other people here have played.
This shit is still a 10/10 to me. I replayed the second game for the first time in at least a decade and I could still vividly remember 75% of the screens. I only forgot the last few stages because I always struggled to get that far as a kid.
>early one morning in the 90s
>playing this with sister
>we're both highly focused on the game
>eventually finish our fight on that opening stage
>we look down
>we were so focused on the game that we didn't notice our mom had put pancakes right in front of us
Shit is like pure nostalgia to me. I also remember running over a civilian and seeing an enemy cars health drop so far that I assumed he got out of his car and I ran the character over.
Oh I've beaten the game user. I just know the game can bug out big time in certain emulators and you can end up in situations like this (its a cheat code in the vid that's been enabled but I've experienced this before in an emulator).
youtube.com
Ever heard the (few) vocal versions of the songs in the game? Its a good thing reflections used the instrumental versions.
Rate my recent finds.
>Picture is sideways somehow.
Thanks gookmoot.
>SF2
Fuck I wanna go back in time when these games were new and I was little kid playing them.
My favorite weapon is the air taser especially since you can get it in the first five minutes and electrocute niggas to death until they catch on fire
Classic PSX game, I played it on PC (because it was on PC too).
>taze friendlies
>they have unique screams
Watched the animu of that
Probably not worth watching overall unless you're an /m/ fag, but that tone shift so far in hits hard
Pretty good taste, I still need to beat like half the games you put up there. X5 also catches too much shit, it has problems but it's still a solid game. I really want to play Tomba 1 and 2, I started 2 and got stuck on that mine cart section and assumed I had to beat it to make progress.
This shit was like the only game my mom was hesitant to let me play. I had already played Resident Evil and Silent Hill by the time I got to that.
Game would be pretty great too if the combat was just fixed up a little bit, as is enemies can get a lot of cheap shots in.
Isn't Alundra 2 supposed to be terrible, like insulting to the nature of the first game?
Anons help me find a ps1 game. It was some sort of an arcadey tank game from first/ third person perspective. If I recall correctly the first level was in some sort of a desert and the second in a city. I played the fuck out of it on split screen but totally don't remember it's name
G-Police 2 was such a blunder compared to G-Police 1.
Remake when?
Wargames: Defcon 1?
Vanguard Bandits
Nope, doesn't look like it. The camera was much closer to the tank, kinda the way you'd have it in modern games
Didn't know it was avilable for PS1. Played the PC version but only did about 2-3 missions and never finished it.
Sounds like Tiny Tank, unless your talking about a more realistic tank game.
Gameplay wise, it's very different, yes. Not very faithful. The writing though, oh my god. It's fucking amazing. It's like playing through a golden age anime. Gameplay in its own right is very very good though, just not faithful.
Yeah it was much more realistic, I'm afraid, thanks for the input though. Sorry I can't remember more details about it, it was fucking ages since I've seen it
This game was the shit.
Its Steel Reign.
Oh shit, I found it, it was called Steel Reign
youtu.be
I've played this a lot. It's pretty short actually, since even the manual has a guide to help you beat it. Great atmosphere, really makes you feel like you're all alone in an abandoned space installation.
I own the PS1 version, and I've also played the sega saturn version as well. PS1 has higher quality sounds if I remember right.
RIP Psygnosis.
Yeah, fucking loved that shit
good shit user, army men toys in space has to be my favorite army men
Underrated platformer right here.
Best rpg coming through
Tomb raider killed it.
Only played 2 and those large ass ships porting in or that big space effect suddenly vanishing scared the shit outta me as a kid. Haven't touched a space game since. Just can't top it imo.
>Can play with 3 friends with one controller. Lots of value here at Sams for 10-20$. Forgot what the dual pack price was way back when.
my 2nd favorite genre after shmups
you're a cool dude
Meanwhile on PC
>Quake
>Half-Life
>CS 1.16
Oh shit I remember that. I destroyed that massive home base ship by firing at it a few times and then waiting a bit after they tell you to stop the friendly fire. No idea how long it took but the thing actually blew up at some point
>Vanguard Bandits
It's tragic that game got Working Designs'd
You don't need to meme up a script about medieval warfare played out with giant robots, it sells itself with the concept alone. But no, let's stuff it full of visual gags, toilet humour, pop culture references, have a main character in one of the routes talk like Yoda for the hell of it
Fuck WD
(but great game)
right here.
Yeah it's like eerily quiet with just that lulling music adding to the lonely atmosphere. Then when you first encounter one of the "aliens" it feels tense and adds to the feeling of being all alone.
I first played the game when I was like 4 years old and shit kinda scarred me.
I had the actual game, still do, definitely a cool game.
Did you 100% this game, user? Be honest here.
I have way more nostalgia for the first Colony Wars than the second. The Sol campaign was so difficult back when I was a kid. Then again, that's where the best ending was so I'm not surprised.
youtube.com
Name me a better main theme, you can't.
The only shmup Square made, and it's one of the best shmups ever made.
Heard the programmers worked on the Gummi Ship segments in KH3 which is pretty cool.
Wild 9
Incredible Crisis
Speed Punks
KH3 has an Einhander easter egg
youtube.com
I'm sure 99% of the people playing this won't get the reference though.
The Schwazgeist fight goes on for a little too long, but it sure is a fucking great easter egg. Love that the original version of it's theme plays if you use the Einhander Gummi Ship as well, though the remix of the theme you get otherwise is still great.
This and Ridge Racer R4 are the only games I own a physical soundtrack off, had to import them from Japan but it was worth it.
>you now manually realize that there can't be such a good era for games again because devs can't make unsafe bets on innovation and you are forever doomed to play the same shit with minor differences.
To think VR was the next step, fucking hell.
Loved R4 as well. Dripping with style that game was.
many games itt were also released on PC
Ever play the ridge racerr turbo demo? Imagine if Namco could get RR4 to run at 60fps.
Ah yes the jellyfish boss from Einhander
I do miss back when Square was the experimentation company. Sure they had Final Fantasy, but they also had shit like Einhander, Racing Lagoon and Brave Fencer Musashi.
They also had it as a playable character in World of Final Fantasy
Something about the music also, Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere has similar music. Shit just gets me pumped.
You'll never get games like 40 winks or Swagman ever again. That's for sure.
Don't forget SaGa, weirdest fucking RPGs ever made.
Ha, you too? I played it when I was very young as well, and I always needed someone in the room with me.
Damn good atmosphere, even today I'd say.
AW YEAH MOTHERFUCKING ROBO PIT
Nobody I talk to has ever heard of this and it's a shame 'cause it was my jam way back when
It's just classy, stylish house and DnB. Love when games had that kind of music, very prevalent in the PS1 days. Like Ape Escape's music was all techno and DnB.
really a great game, never mentioned here.
Hand and shield 4 would take you through the entire game.
Any one know a 2D jap RPG where you start in a boat and go to sleep and u get to the fantasy world. I have been trying to look for that game be cause i lost ages ago and dont remember the name of it
I'm really mad I never saw this game before.
Sadly still to this day the best F1 racer
Hell I did it with just punch-1's, shove an enemy into the corner and just keep punching them until they fall out. It wasn't the best made game, since you could stunlock everything. I still loved it anyway
Start on a boat...
Alundra?
Hand works better because it pulls the enemy towards you which lets you stunlock easier.
The murrary walker announcing is great. Remember: you can combine cheats in the game.
Companies don't make risks anymore. They just pander to an already estabilished playerbase they make minor changes while the core is the exact same as it was many years before. This is why everything feels so same and stagnated.
Vr was supposed to be the next step, but its safe to say it didn't deliver anything much, it didn't failed, but it was more of a fad than a milestone.
Eight-year old me didn't have much of a concept of stunlock at the time. Favorite weapon was the boomerangs anyway
Indie studios have taken the place of the old AAA 90s experimenters. It still lives on.
nope
This thread is comfy
So many memories
I NEED SEQUELS FUCK
>It's tragic that game got Working Designs'd
Fuck off, it's a joy to play and the script is very enjoyable.
Most kino endings ever.
Seriously, look them up on youtube. That shit was dark.
youtube.com
Also
>Calling Twisted Metal 2 dark when Twisted Metal Black exists
Thats my webm, just renamed - glad to see someone appreciates the effort.
Thanks for making it.
That first game is still the only one I've known where it actually used roof grades. They're a big part of actual stock car racing in the UK.
While being a dev is easier than ever these people just simply are not there. Indie devs are often scum, and this industry is plagued with the "idea guy" types. The ones who think their idea is super fucking good, while in reality even if its that good they simply can't put it in a working game.
The only way to escape this loophole is accelerationism and to accept the fact that the crash needs to happen again.
PS1 had some good stuff on it.
Well with the way AAA publishers like EA/Ubisoft/Activision have their investors basically asking for more money every single game release ballooning up to fucking ridiculous amounts, it's completely unsustainable and will blow up in their faces at some point.
I only played R4 recently on an emulator and found it really goddamn enjoyable. The way drifting works just feels great too.
Black has retarded writing, it went way too far into being edgy without being self aware. That being said Black still has the best gameplay out of any car combat game. 2 is still a lot of fun, the stages in 2 are so goddamn dangerous,
It's basically a COMPLETELY different game to the first one, and it makes no sense for it to be named the same.
It's a pretty good game, otherwise.
then where are my arcade racing games and 3d shooters?
The Antarctica map in TM2 still gives me Vietnam flashbacks.
G-Police is absolute fucking kino. Nice taste my dude.
GO FORTH MY MINIONS!
You got a ton of 3D shooters. Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Maiden.
From what I remember there's a bunch of arcade hover shooters. Also Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart.
There's a special place in hell for working designs apologists
You've misquoted the second post there.
lol can confirm
Indie devs get shit on way too often here, there has been some real shining examples of indie games actually doing work on genres that would be completely abandoned otherwise.
That being said early 3D devs were still much more ambitious and talented.
>arcade racer
Red Out, GRIP, BallisticNG
>3D shooters
Amid Evil, Dusk, Devil Daggers.
That and the roof top were brutal as fuck for me as a child. Even while replaying the game the antarctic stage was way too scary.
that's awful though
Not him but it more revenge=good, not revenge=ending get fucked over.
Cheers my man
>a lot of my favorite less known games have been posted
Wow, when did all the cool people decide to come back to Yea Forums?
>TGX is that you?
I love the Legends games
Played the original DDR on the PS1 and eventually pirated the rest. 5th Mix is most memorable, but I actually own Konamix
I love just how ominous this is
Any fellow REbros here?
Let me share a few decent RE rip offs to scratch that itch
The best DDR mix to me is either MAX2 or Extreme.
My nigger. I had a pirated copy, played the shit out of it even though it was a weak game that looked unfinished.
this one is like dino crisis 2 gameplay with RE puzzles
best game
And this one here is criminally underplayed
I'd like to give a shout out to my man alejando for showing me this game when we were kids
Where to get some decent PS1 .isos bros? So many classics I missed.
That's the most okay euro action adventure game I've played. So utterly euro PS1.
This game is alright but i remember it also being lacking in some areas, maybe it was too hard or the respawing enemies were too annoying? i dont remember
I played as the chick, did i fuck up?
No one posted this yet? I want to go back.
My favorite
i use daroms
and cdromance
You're supposed to play as both characters. It lacks in that it has no voice acting, other than that it's Onumusha with PS1 limitations.
alright ill give it a spin as the dude
Literally GIT GUD or you ain't playing the game
10/10 tutorial you'll always get out of it as a true Driver, making the game extra easy(except the last mission, of course)
Nothing will ever surpass that Tutorial level, NOTHING
hahaha net yaroza hall of fame shit was the best
terra ingognita was actually really good. played the shit outta that
Ended up buying a jap copy I can't fucking understand because the english release I emulated was that good
Survival horror mech sims should have took off
Extreme JAP has to be my favorite.
In the Groove 2 Beta is the best for me though.
landing on top of people was the shit
youtube.com
kino gamecheese
Oh and the soundtrack is pretty repetitive now that i think about it. Don't get me wrong, there are better games with this theme on the platform, like Tenchu, but i still enjoyed this game a lot back then and was surprised when Onimusha was basically just a copy of it and no one seemed to mention it.
League > Navy
The dreamcast version is vastly superior, even if it lacks the kart tracks. Luckily NullDC emulates it perfectly.
Also: the game has the most metal intro of all time. youtube.com
Never could get Tomba 1, but my mom back then knew how much I wanted it. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't find it so I had to stick to playing the demo disc and another one with the demo for 2, but one day I get home from school and she surprised me with Tomba 2 as a gift the day it came out.
I remember spending so much time after school playing this nonstop. Tons of memories and good times, I remember how fucking scary Donglin woods was, if not for the music, but for seeing Baron turned to stone. I don't have a fear of that stuff, but something about the model terrified me, just seeing him stuck. No guides to figure things our also made for a super long playthrough, it's one of those games I'd reset my memory of just to replay it blind again.
music's great too
youtube.com
what the fuck it was on dreamcast too? never knew that!
Many thanks for the spoonfeed. Lots of classics I miss playing and stuff I never tried.
Particularly wanna try the King's Field series.
that looks awful. Far too fast and twitchy.
Same. I played all the important ones but missed so many hidden gems.
I should dedicate a month to this gen some time, or more.
anyone here played this?
Is it true about it being a proto-DMC?
I know it's the biggest cliché but it has to be posted regardless.
also, vr missions
I got those downloaded, thinking about giving them a shot once i got the time and im the right state of mind
Man the demo was amazing wasn't it?
I might grab a Tomba 1 .iso later, I never play more lighthearted shit anymore.
They available on the sites posted earlier user?
If they released on the US, they are in daroms
For pal/jp only stuff, plus fan translations, a fair amount are in cdromance
Download and hoard while you can familia
>devs can't make unsafe bets on innovation
Uh just play indie games dude
Waiting for AAA publishers to tell you a game is good is basically being a cuckgoy
Underrated Classics
Let me add one up, when I was a kid, this game that taught me about blood transfusion.
I fucked up the blood transfusion part.
Member Syphon Filter?
Member Apocalypse?
Is this the "resident evil on a train but with terrorists" game?
Will i like it if i fucking love RE?
cool boarders
WHY WON'T KONAMI STOP BEING A BITCH AND GET AN UPSCALED VERSION OF THAT AND MGS2 FOR PS4? I'M MAD AS FUCK.
Thanks nog
I played Cool Boarders 3 and that game was what got me into snowboarding
Yeah. It is fucking rad as shit.
You wouldnt believe something so fast and furious is on a PlayStation.
You play as a Cowboy with a gun and a samurai sword that he can power up and turn into a giant fucking sword.
yeah bitch break your neck
stupid cunt haha die
Remember the first game I saw on Playstation was an over the top shooter called "Loaded" or something? Big guy wearing black holding a teddy bear? Game was pretty gore-y.
won pic related off ebay for 54 dollars a week ago and the seller still hasnt shipped it
wasnt that a reskin of a game for little girls?
the soundtrack of that game is kino
YEa boi
The guards will just pick poison riceballs up off the ground and eat them and die.
Its hilarious.
Oh fuck me and my dad loved this game. It was so comfy, just riding around. Driving tanks felt really good.
>Sony owns G-Police brand
>Has released a VR headset
>No G-Police VR where you bomb around a metropolis, dishing out machinegun-justice to perps.
Like fucking what are they doing?
I might be alone with this, but I think it still looks good to this day, when played through the CRT
Though I gotta say it's really mystic about what it wants you to do in order to proceed sometimes with a lot of backtracking
This was one of the most addictive games ever.
Just one tower, always trying to get higher up. And a town to improve and girls to charm. It even had a pokemon system.
Oh man that game was glorious. If ever a game needed a rerelease with online MP, this is it.
Get a JP copy you can still score those pretty cheap if you are willing to look/wait. This applies to a good number of PS1 games actually.
Well Yea Forums ?
Rik Mayall mocking you in a range of offensive as fuck accents made it all so much better.
You can't just pass up a free rice ball, user.
those ea classics box arts are shit tier, especially the road rash one
>we heard you like value so we put a picture of a case on the case
Medeval Tomb Raider.
That is demolition racer in a nutshell.
I own the original - its clunky as fuck but still charming for the totally 90's radical commentry.
I still have that disc and a ton more knocking around.
That disc also has the MGS1 demo, played the FUCK out of that waiting for its release.
is it better than the first one?
I wanted to like nightmare creatures i really did, but it just pissed me off to no end
The god awful platforming, the undying enemies, the eternal bosses, the clunky-stunlock or get stunlocked combat, those levels with secret passages that you get lost inmediately because of the draw distance
fucking hell that game pissed me off
FRIENDLY FIRE ISN'T SLATER(slayer? i was never sure)
The only good thing about this game are the magazine ads.
>pal
>tenchu 2 disc only
thats gonna be a yikes from me
Slater.
The intro to the game is like 11 minutes long.
The voice acting in this game is somehow still better than 95% of the games that have come after it.
Such a great game, never got to play 2nd Offensive though. The X360 remake was diabolically bad.
thank you for answering a question that's been in my head for literally over fifteen years that i was too lazy to answer myself, user
My first introduction to rouge-likes. Loved the building up town aspect, I always wish more RPGs had that system.
Also, Mantis references it in MGS if you have a save.
How has this not been mentioned yet?
>hear about how its one of the best looking ps1 games ever made
>download it
>95MB
N-nani?
Number 11 was the one that was passed around in our friend group. Only the one friend had got it and it had GTA on it and we all craved it.
I got given this game when I was younger and it just went way over my head. I hated the slow-paced nature of turn based combat
perspective and style. also
>best looking
vagrant story is a lot of great things but i wouldn't call it a visual masterpiece even for it's time
No voice acting or pre-rendered video. Like 95% of all ps1 games have the latter taking up a few hundred megs.
>is it better than the first one?
Yes. But don't expect to much change.
I don't know exactly why, but it feels better.
I've still got most of mine. I think the only thing I lost was a couple bargain bin throwaways, and more importantly, my Spyro trilogy.
Still have my PAL copy of this....should probably sell it, worth a pretty penny nowadays.
This was legit one of my favourite games on PS1.
>That fucking terrifying lvl 16 where you need to find a crashed satellite in a deep, dark as fuck area
From The Square enix store
>Longbox RE
based, im so fucking mad that my copy arrived without a manual and with the disc-holder circle thingy all fucked up
>335 replies
>Only 1 azure dreams
Nice
Sick soundtrack too.
Brigador is very similar.
Anons i need help finding the name of a game i played. It was like Ace Combat but not Ace Combat. I don't remember anything about it other than that it had anime characters, one of which was an old man i think and you could fly a propeller plane or modern jets like a Flanker. I remember liking it but it was a pirated game and i gave all of those away.
I've attempted to order longbox games twice and both times they've arrived fucked up. So I don't plan to again unless I can convince the seller to use better packaging. Also, that RE box is mostly okay, except for the top hinge is busted off. But I bought it locally and was fine with everything else on it.
>ctrl-f "ape escape"
>1 result
The one on PC was better I think.
Wing Over 1 or 2 for PS1 perhaps?
the first time I ever used analog sticks and that shit was the hardest thing I'd ever done in games up to that point.
i still have this game, played the fuck out of it
would welcome a reboot
Yeah, rip
Holy Shit that was fast. That's it, thank you user.
Whats the jap game at the top?
Remaster this and all the strikes games.
Anyone?
This game had awesome weapon and ships variations. I played it all day.
I'd googled it last week when a similar question came into my mind about 'what game was that'?
Good thing I remember.
Also speaking of PS1 jet fighter games, i just remembered this one while trying to remember the name of Wing Over. I remember it being excellent.
Fuck, it really was the greatest video game gen of all time. I want to go back...
Damn. I still want to see anime or movie like this.
Jet racing are awesome
I'm pretty sure we all know about on PC. It's still classic PS1 games.
Based.
>no proper sequel
Wish WoT like games had same physics
Sexy Parodius
Cool
>it's Onumusha with PS1 limitations.
Funny enough, Onimusha was supposed to be a PS1 game
youtube.com
>Space Hulk
Class
It’s like a mini history lecture
I miss game developers actually giving a shit about writing complex back stories. The games themselve were minimalist but the world building was top notch.
played the shit out of the demo
youtube.com
Thoughts on SMT games ps1 ports
All I know of sexy Parodius is one of the managers at Universal Studios played it a lot when crash 1 was in development.
Fun fact: crash 1 will eventually kill a psx. I highly reccommend reading andy gavin's blog on the development of crash 1 as it is very interesting and highlights how crash achieved visuals nobody else matched.
Those tunes hit me hard in the feels. I actually kept a few of the demo discs (choice few) and I still have the demo one disc that came with my long gone psx machine. Sony's marketing for the playstation (and PS2) was so on point for the target market.
wtf?
This was like Souls without all the RPG shit. I wonder why there isn't a modern revival?
>man_of_culture.jpg
It's Parodius with mild anime lewdity and some Konami references thrown in. Also
>crash 1 will eventually kill a psx
How?
>>You're under arrest
I loved Urban Chaos
youtube.com
>How?
Burns the cd drive out by excessive reads.
>Kelly Brook in that skimpy leather outfit
Among my earliest faps.
>>Buy my game young 1998 user
holy shit user, you don't realize how long i've been looking for this game. I'm pretty sure it was that exact demo disc I played it on too.
Not that the Gummi Ship parts are "good" in any refined sense mind you, but KH3 had the Einhander team work on it. So you can find the Endymion to use as a Gummi Ship, and fight the Schwarzgeist as a bonus boss and a new remix of its theme, unless you use the Endymion in which case it uses the original Thermosphere song
Omega boost is fucking rad, so short though
Kaz's hidden masterpiece
The puzzles are more easier, but enjoyable. Combat aint something to write about, but the story is very similar to the movie Speed.
The horror is much more tense despite having no fantasy settings or zombies, and the soundtrack that comes with it is just bliss. You'll enjoy it.
isnt that chase the express?
I always wanted to play this since I saw it in a magazine but my parents wouldn’t let me
I think I actually used to draw it and shit
every single wild arms opening is amazing, but my favorite is probably this
really? I loved my Genesis but when ps1 released the 3d games with real music and sounds, cutscenes, blew my fucking balls off and I bought one asap
its basically gta 3 but on ps1 and you're a cop.
3d open world, 3d person action and shooting, drive cars
Only released in yurop I think although I remember playing a demo of it as well as terracon
My dad still repeats lines from this game to this day and I don't think he even remembers it anymore
Nobody played SCARS as it was a meh racing game released at a point where it had significant competion.
why the fuck everyone in this thread is posting my game collection, despite most of it are very niche and never being talked about on Yea Forums?
There was a demo disc that had video previews for games, and there was this particular preview that looked like a mix of strategy and action. It had mecha, or robots at least, and you played your own units before sending them out to attack the enemy base/core, but you also had to defend your own. It wasn't Future Cop, but I can't quite remember what it was.
Anyone remembers a racing game on the PS where you race super deformed cars? It may be nip.
I played it at my brother's friend's house all night when I was little.
Raping your soul? That one wouldn't fly today wew
>tfw used to play the pc version as a kid
I was master race already...
Such an immersive game, I would just fly around and look at all the details and blow up some cars
>That one wouldn't fly today wew
This
Why did you format this way? This is painful to read
Micro Machines?
Speed Freaks?
>tfw precinct assault mode was the first moba
>Tearring Saga was made by the original director behind Fire Emblem
>tfw you dont live in a timeline where FE didnt came back from the dead to be poisoned by waifushit and Tearring lived on
Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn is the Burger name for Chase the Express (PAL territories name)
See
Today I will remind them.
Loved Demolition Derby, I'm sure I beat it 100%.
Only played the demo if DD2, the visible car damage was so impressive at the time.
>>Tearring Saga was made by the original director behind Fire Emblem
>>tfw you dont live in a timeline where FE didnt came back from the dead to be poisoned by waifushit and Tearring lived on
Sad the second game killed the series. Kaga and Tirnanog went on to release a vastly overhauled sequel, Tear Ring Saga: Berwick Saga, in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, though the title sold less and was ultimately the last game for the company and series.
I said in the post it wasn't Future Cop. The only demo I can distinctly remember as playable on the disc was Lifeforce Tenka.
Ah sorry my bad man
This piece of crap right here...
though It had a rad intro
>youtu.be
youtube.com
This was the best DD game IMO.
Studio 33's track designing was just as good as Reflections', if not better.
No... It was 3d and had stuff like police car, school bus... The cars were super cute.
Thats not Soviet Strike.
Ignition?
ChoroQ games?
The physics were fucked compared to reflections but it was a quality title.
the post was about the demo menu not specifically scars
that was on ps1? loved it on PC very colorful and imaginative game
Yeah, the cars handled far differently to the first two games. Shame they killed the franchise with Arenas, which isn't a bad game in itself but doesn't feel like a DD game, what with all the powerups.
cartoony or realistic?
post more info if you want an answer
No, it wasn't on PS1.
is probably right: en.wikipedia.org
It's better than other in every possible way, but for some reason people only remember second.
You're reading this and remembering the game's title and protagonist's lines in Troy McClure's voice
Fucking love both those games.
Oh shit! I think this is it! Thanks! Now to replay it to see if it's actually fun.
CAN ANYONE STOP THE MECHANICAL MAYHEM?
There's a glitch on its demo where if you hold down start while it's loading, you get a freeroam mode with a half-finished Dragonfly where you can drive through the scenery.
I remember being scared of this game even though it was also terrible
>YUM YUM
I might have only played the demo since many say the game was horrible. I don't remember it being that bad.
RIP
The mission after the nuke went off in Pyongyang was kino.
Thank you gex 3
I just beat this game for the first time two days ago, it was hard as fuck and kind of janky but great.
Apparently they made the game with typical up-down-left-right 3D movement, only to be told at last minute they were to make it like Tomb Raider's, where left-right swivel the character and only up-down actually move you in the direction they are pointing in. This fucked with all the cameras apparently and made it really frustrating.
Reminds me of how bad shooting games were with only 4 arrow buttons instead of two analog sticks or keyboard and mouse. And shoot being Square instead of a shoulder button.
youtube.com
Did you know the guerrilla leader Naja Hana who ends up as your ally is played by Actress Moon Bloodgood?
>Also I have no idea how I beat that boxing mini game as a kid, shit was brutal.
I'd forgotten about that level altogether. The rest of the game jogged my memory with each level but I couldn't figure out the boxing for shit. Took a couple of attempts once I looked up the controls.
The first game was definitely better though. Always loved the hall of heroes.
The only series that would make me buy a PS4.
>Twisted Metal Battle Royal
>Net Yaroze
Holy fuck you have no idea how long I've been looking for that. I'd hand you a beer right now if I could.
Found this amazing but spooky as a kid
I miss demo discs
>Einhänder
Only played that once in the past.
It was a pretty neat R-type clone.
That's actually fucking perfect. The stars have aligned for a car combat revival and no one is capitalizing. Fuck this gay Earth.
This and Shadow Man were great. There need to be more dark, edgy collectathon platformers.
FOR KRON!
youtube.com
This game was my fucking jam. Made a good argument for rubberband AI though, once you knew the track and all the shortcuts you were basically racing by yourself, with the occasional tornado reminding you there were supposed to be other drivers.
Would actually play
>Clone
pls no
I think I found the game myself. Carnage Heart. Interestingly it seems no trace of it was on the demo disc I saw, so I guess I must've seen it in an obscure place.
youtube.com
Why do PS1 games have so much soul
you seriously didn't know what Net Yaroze is!?
What kind of PSX player were you!?!?!?!?!?
Limitation spawns inspiration. Also when it comes to grungy things like in MDK or FF7, you just don't get that same style nowadays with everything being so crisp and clean.
Most of the money when to the story and the story was shit.
Fuck me I miss when games had entire soundtracks of old school DnB. Hell I just miss the genre in general, it needs a revival.
Just came in here to make sure MR got posted, thanks.
>This and Shadow Man were great. There need to be more dark, edgy collectathon platformers.
This please
T-Rex is way better than manta ray.
OLD GUD
NEW BAD
a lot of those games are trash
Yeah, the technical advances have eclipsed the level of creativity needed to make a flawed or limited product more intriguing.
Any of these titles are in essence nothing that special by todays technical standards but the atmosphere is top notch.
Even games like the Witcher 3, which have decent atmosphere and world building lack the same charm as any of these titles because its just another free roam game where you button mash your way to victory.
But maybe I’m just drunk and nostalgic today.
Takes one to know one i suppose.
DEMO ONE!
Go back to Fortnite you dick sucking ding dong
It's sad when ps1 games have more perosnailty then modern game's.
This so much, I only played it a few years ago and I was amazed by how good the voice acting was for its time.
see you guys, I'm gonna play some Rollcage
This whole thread is kino
Well done boys
See you user, OP here, this was fun
You guys have brought back some great memories and made the day less shitty.
This is one of the earliest games I remember having and playing. Thanks for posting it user.
oh my fucking god, I played this game as a child and had forgotten about it and in the past few years have been trying to find out what it was called again, thank you so fucking much.
You wouldn't happen to know about a similar game to this but instead it was based off of what I think was RC dirt buggies, would you?
Oh wow. I guess all PSX games masterpiece. 10/10 right?
>PSX
You probably never played half of these games, go get your big brother user I’m sure he’d appreciate this thread.
You are literally the first person I've ever seen mention that game besides my brothers.
yep, still got the moves
>ITG
Console version wasn't even on PS1, get out of here.
There is no such thing as bad strike game.
All I remember about this game is that it had tank controls. Tank controls in a fucking 3D platformer.
The controls suck, but it's a good game otherwise.
This and Medievil were my childhood favorites
Was there any logic to that shadow demons puzzle with the 4 tiles, or was it just bruteforcing 4! combinations?
YOOOOOOOOOOO
youtu.be
Because you had soul then
Terrible voice acting aside (and not in the good way), this game was better than it had any right being.
This was masterpiece of bad game.
>You probably never played half of these games
Why do you think so? Because having PS1 is somehow big achievement? Every kid in my hometown had PS1. I played Quake 2 on classic controller without sticks in 4x splitscreen deathmatch. It was ridiculous. Do you remember this experience? Am I your boomer friend now?
