Majora's Mask

Is this still worth playing if I absolutely can't stand timers in video games?

Loved Ocarina of Time as a kid but pretty much all of my friends skipped MM so I never bothered with it.

How easy is it to set up 3ds emulator? I have both oot 3d and mm 3d on 3ds but the screen is too small and it hurts my eyes to play. Do I need really good computer to emulate them?

Thanks for showing off OoT 3DS, which is a great version of that game.

You just download Citra (nightly or canary), grab a decrypted 3DS ROM off Google (please don't post any links in this thread, we don't want any sites being targeted by Nintendo), then you just set up your gamepad etc in the emulator and launch the ROM, super easy.

The 3DS version is the best.

Wow yeah look at all those pretty colors, user.

And Majora's Mask is the same.

Majora's Mask 3D lets you save scum so the timer isn't that bad.

Anyone else find this relaxing?

The time limit is ever present and will drive you mad. Play TP if you want a game that feels like a true sequel to OOT.

You can easily find the ocarina song which slows down the timer 2x giving you 6 hours real time to do anything you like.

>twilight princess not in the bad section together with skyward sword

Based

Phantom hourglass and TP each need to be bumped up a notch. Also ii thought 4 swords was a dumpster fire? Never played it but that's what I heard.

noclip.website/ go there and click majoras mask

explore around and decide for yourself

Is Skyward Sword really that bad or people just hate it due to motion controls?

you're the retard, faggot. Enjoy your shitty zora swimming and dumbed down mechanics OMEGALUL back to /r/Yea Forums kid

Don't think of it as a time limit, but as a cycle. Literally nothing happens if you run out of time, this is not a game you rush. Spend a few cycles in town clearing sidequests and getting used to the mechanic. Think of the owl statues as checkpoints, you can restart a cycle and teleport to a statue without losing much, but don't do that
You can use the song of time backwards to double the duration of a cycle

Its boring.

Yeah it's fine, the time-limit is way less of a problem with Inverse Song of Time which doubles your time-limit for absolutely no cost.

Just get the song of slow time and it doubles the amount of time you have to do everything. Honestly once you get used to he game that’s only useful for the dungeons

>four dungeons

yikes

This. Completely tones down the idea of the original game, and Zora Link gameplay fucking sucks.

Its a game about people not dungeons

Why exactly is it trash? I only played the original game and the upgrade in fps and prettier graphics seemed like a good deal to me.

Considering how much overworld content is required to get into the dungeons in the first place, having only 4 isn’t that big of a deal
Also
>Gerudo Fortress
>Ikana Castle
>the Moon

Its not trash really. It just made some changes that arent that great. Like the zora swimming and the boss fights.

The time mechanic pretty much doesn't exist in that version. Go to the first day and use the slow time song. There, you have nothing to worry about unless you're a literal drooling retard.

>Zelda
>complex NPC's
lmao

It isn't trash at all, it's effectively a sidegrade. MM3D trades the N64's dreary atmosphere for something akin to the dream-like, vibrant colors of the promotional and box-art, makes some changes to the bosses that are legitimately bad (but Twinmold's changes are 10/10), and has some stupid changes like not being able to use ice arrows anywhere. For playing Majora's Mask whereever you want at 30-60 FPS (I think New 3DS runs it at 60? Can't recall), it's great.

What exactly is this tool

>tfw loved MM as a kid
>dont have the patience as adult
>cant stand having to start all over every time

I just realized you can't even save anywhere. You either have to reset everything or use the owl statues which are sorta iron man saves.

What the fuck.

>tfw I played only the amazing and great zeldas

yep i had to many panic attacks from his game

>Has both games on the 3DS
>Pirates anyway
You’re an idiot

You didnt read my post. I said the screen on 3ds is too small and hurts my eyes.

I remember losing progress due to random freezing while teleporting or a power blackout. Shit sucked

I'm like you and hate timers, but this never felt like a timer to me. Like said it's more of a cycle, like Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley.

Well you don't really start over. The only thing thing the timer can take away is dungeon progress.

Dunno about the original, but saving is very convenient in the 3DS version. Didnt have any issues.

It's not bad at all. It's definitely better than fucking Wind Waker. I'd put it in the Ok tier.

The only thing stopping me from playing MM is the lack of save states in Citra. This game BADLY needs a quicksave/quickload feature.

amd all your consumable items

I'd say give it a go at least

>tfw game looks amazing in HD on emulator
>tfw game looks amazing in 3D on 3DS
>tfw you will never play it in 3D HD

>can't stand timers in video games
Then Dead Rising 1 and 2 must really fuel your paranoia. Seriously the clock in Majora's Mask isn't a big deal as people already said. On top of that you can slow time down whenever you want and resume back to normal if necessary. Hell if you're waiting for specific events you can fast forward time. Also play the N64 version, the remake did a lot of questionable changes from boss fights to fucking up the already perfect Zora swimming.

>Wind Waker too high
>Zelda II too low

Other than that, really good list fampai.

i kinda want a switch to fuck around with but im only gonna get one if nintendo does a OoT/MM double pack

Kind of an unrelated question, but do any of you anons know who made the artwork for Majora's Mask and why does it look so different to OoT?

Attached: Great Fairy Majora's Mask.png (2272x2368, 1.9M)

Winder Waker's dungeons are really meh at best. I'd switch WW and TP. Oh and bump ALBW down to 'ok'. Renting items is a good idea on paper, but it makes an easy game even easier.

>why does it look so different to OoT?
because the game is completely different

>the already perfect Zora swimming.

Tell that to the great bay temple and pirate base.

>because the game is completely different
They reused a lot of character models, though.

>nes Zeldas that low
>ds Zeldas are bad
>FSA is good

There isn't a problem if you're at least smart enough not to mash the a button.

Considering how every Zelda remake or re-release always fucks up something, what will get changed in the already ugly looking Link's Awakening remake?

>old game good
>new game bad

>pretty much all of my friends skipped MM so I never bothered with it.

Do you know how I know you're all filthy casuals? My god. The retards that would claim to hate timers despite the fact that you can reverse time in this game. Bunch of idiots that missed out on a great game.

DS Zeldas were bad. Sorry you had to learn it here instead of being able to figure it out on your own.

I played through Phantom Hourglass completely. God it was bad.

is this nu-Yea Forums humor

>GAME IS BAD BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT
All you have is the stylus controls which aren't even an issue unless you play for more than a couple of hours straight.

I just don't understand what the hell they were thinking with the change to Zora swimming.

Attached: MMMoon.jpg (1280x720, 116K)

Aonuma literally admitted he was shit at controlling it after playing the game for the first time in over a decade so they gimped it.

The remake is fine. There are some minor changes for the worse but it’s still good. At least they didn’t completely fuck it up like the RE2make.

somg of slow down time render time limit completely useless if you're not brainlet, I'm playing this for the first time too and the only thing I'd reccomend you is to play OoT if you haven't already unless you want to get lost and hate the game

Heavy shading

You're a retarded newfag if you still give a fuck about and respond to these bait tier lists. Didn't even read it.

That video did make using the deku and zora masks look unbearable, haven't played it myself though.

twilight princess is almost exactly the same game as ocarina of time
i don't get why ocarina nostalgiafags rate it so poorly

You can't force me to like it, faggotron,

>old thing good
>new thing bad
>young people who like new thing bad
>newest thing worst
>youngest people who like newest thing bad
>old people who like old thing also bad

Because it's easier to maneuver with the change and there are a lot of tight corners where you want tight controls.

I wonder if anyone will ever find out who this girl is

OP, if you want to give your respect to Koizumi and his magnum opus, play the n64 version. It's the version that passionate MM fans love, while 3ds MM players never contribute anything to the discussion and actively shitpost.

If you don't respect it as the masterpiece of a game that it is, play the 3ds version or even just don't play it a all. Both lead to the same outcome in my mind.

The timer in Majora's Mask is not a time limit on your gameplay. It is instead the driving force behind the game's main theme/mechanic: cause and effect.

You get to play the same 3 days however many times you want. You get to reset to the first day at will, and you get to slow down the timer to allow you TRIPLE the time (or double in the 3DS).

What makes it interesting is exploring and seeing how the actions you take in a certain cycle affect things later in that cycle. Certain events only happen if you prevent another thing that would normally stop that event from happening, such as stopping aliens on the farm or preventing the bomb bag lady from getting mugged.

Also, finding new items, taking them to a new cycle, and seeing how they can be used.

>3ds version
>Filled with hints
>Constant hand holding
>Secrets straight to up told to you
>level design changes to me it easier
>gameplay changes to make it easier
>Ice arrows only freeze glowing spots
>Swimming is worse

MM3D is just casual mode MM

Is there anyone who dislikes both versions of Majora's Mask? As in, just dislikes the game at its core?

Attached: AngryLinks.jpg (960x600, 113K)

The artwork was based on Mike Mignola's Hellboy comics, which had a cult fanbase going on in Japan.

Attached: Hellboy.jpg (588x203, 50K)

Of course, we call those aonuma fanboys.

>The timer in Majora's Mask is not a time limit on your gameplay
It absolutely is

I wouldn't call it "casual mode". I'd call it "Special Edition".
Most of its changes make the mind wonder. There's a fantastic movie/game under there, but when you're asked if you want the original version, or the "special" version made by a guy who has questionable views on the original, then the original will simply be preferable, since it lacks the weird choices of the remake. It's all about whether or not you want banana juice on your steak.

>over 2 hours to do anything you want at a time
>it's even possible to beat the entire game in 1 cycle
You're just shit at the game.

no it really isn't. it is in fact possible to play MM for more than 72 minutes at a time.

The game gives you way more time than you could ever need to do any particular task.

more like "Special Ed"ition

Attached: Carlos.jpg (600x600, 35K)

I don't entirely disagree with you Carlos but I don't fully agree, either.
Mostly because the Twinmold fight was made made much, much more of a pain in the ass because of the incredibly narrow window to actually get them to be vulnerable for attack
