Nothing was fake; the other thing it said is that a Kingsglaive game was going to happen, and even though it was cancelled, it actually *was* in production. Also, the same leaker revealed the name "Verum Rex" MONTHS before KH3 release.

I figured this was coming considering that Square Enix released an Iron Man design and Nomura confirmed that the main reason Marvel wasn't in KH3 was because of time constraint. Their Avengers game will likely be the basis for an eventual Marvel Kingdom Hearts world.

Are you aware of how Final Fantasy XV was originally going to be a part of the Fabula Noval Crystalis series, and share continuity and Lore with Final Fantasy XIII? At the time it was going to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the game was much darker, having themes of death. The game was reworked and reworked and Nomura eventually had to focus more on KH3 and it was reworked into Final Fantasy XV.
Kingdom Hearts 3's Toy Story World opened up with scenes from a very Square Enix looking game many noted looked like the earlier trailers for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, referred to as Verum Rex in-universe. Verum Rex translates to "True King" and the main character's name is Yozora, which translates to "night sky." This is also a translation of the name of the main character of Final Fantasy XV.
And Yozora shows up in KH3's secret ending, basically confirming that Verum Rex was not a meta joke by SE. It's at the least going to be a KH world, and many are speculating the next KH game might pull an Extended Universe and set up upcoming Nomura games that share continuity

Versus isn't specifically the world of death, it's just that one of the few things we know about what Nomura intended for that game was that it was going to deal heavily with themes of death, which makes sense since in FNC lore Etro is the goddess of death and also kind of the big good.
Remember, TWEWY is about people who died recently fighting for the chance to come back to life. Sora just died and awakens in TWEWY's Shibuya, and the last time we saw any TWEWY characters they literally told Sora, "See you in Shibuya." Take that as you will

Insomnia's citadel is based on a real building in Shinjuku (see pic related), and the version we see in the secret ending is way closer to the irl building, and that closer-to-reality-design is what they were originally going to go for in Versus XIII.
I don't think it's TWEWY specifically, but that the next KH game will be tied to existing SE properties and deal with themes of death.

No. That artwork is from XV not Versus, it was done for XV and of Tenebrae specifically which was only designed when it was XV. That art on display there is from XV 2016 prerelease material at a restaurant collab they did.
