I just bought pic related and started playing the first game (Rorona). I have no idea what I am doing and there's a SHITLOAD of things to do. How do I prioritize my time best? I don't want to read a walkthrough but I'm also afraid of fucking up with no coming back.
Rorona is the first one that came out, story-wise it would make sense to play that one first. But I heard the later ones have better QoL improvements and are more fun.
So looking at gameplay of these they seem to be actual turn based JRPGs and not visual novels like I initially assumed. Are they comparable to Persona games? OP implies there's some sense of time management.
Daniel Lee
They are somewhat similar to Persona as far as time management and storyline progression goes. You have to manage your time wisely as you have to prioritize synthesizing, exploring, selling stuff, etc. It's similar to Recettear in a way.
Camden White
Let go. You're never going to get what you want or see everything going in blind so just play the game and if you like it a lot you can go through it again with a faq.
It's annoying for people like us but playing the game with a calendar telling you what to do is worse.
Andrew Powell
Finished Rorona and Totori so far. Honestly, you can't really fuck up. You are gonna miss stuff, but unless you're a literal retard you're not going to run out of time. Rorona is the only one that has 3 month deadlines, the rest are just "get this done by the end of the year" or "the end of 3 years", where said task is generally not that hard at all.
If you want the True Endings though, you're gonna need a walkthrough. That's 100% autism though, you're better off just playing naturally, having fun, exploring, and then watching the true ending on YT.
Hudson Thompson
I'm usually fine with getting shit done in time limits, but getting the ending that needs all other ending conditions in Rorona can fuck right off.
Nathan Anderson
Don't care. Focus on your main objective, anything else is secondary so just do whatever your gut tells you to do. So long as you complete your objective in 3 months, it's fine. You can worry about the finer details later, no one does that on their first playthrough AND has fun at the same time.
Josiah Wilson
I've never looked it up, but what happens if you do run out of time? Is it game over and try again from some past save? I assume the games aren't incredibly difficult, but I've always worried about getting into a unwinnable situation and having to start all over again.
Landon Murphy
I don't want to know exactly what to do step by step, and I don't mind missing stuff. I just want to know how to prioritize things. I can be real autism and go balls deep into equipment customization and exploration and then realize I fucked up cause I ignored a fundamental mechanic, and I really don't want that to happen.
How autismal is the true ending to achieve? I read that you just need to get 8 star in each story assignment, or do you need extra stuff? I wouldn't mind going for true ending, but if it's too autistic to get then fuck it.
its not that hard you need that+ 100% popularity people are saying you need to follow a guide step by step but really you can just give the guide a cursory overview and remember what needs to be done
really think its better to give it a go blind first though

Rorona DX is an odd duck because of the bingo card system. DO NOT DO THIS FOR OTHER GAMES, but in Rorona DX you can get by on just 10 starring story missions and clearing bingo cards. This won't get you through the endgame, but it will at least let you learn the nuances of alchemy with less pressure and you can go into NG+ with okay equipment and money so you can do it for real with a leg up. This is mostly why Rorona DX is a good starting point, it does LESS throwing you into the lion's den than other entries with your initial playthrough.
Oliver Rivera
>How autismal is the true ending to achieve? Depends on the game. Rorona's the hardest, since you have to do pretty much everything, which is going to mean planning out who you bring with you, who you gift, when you do certain things, maxing out all friendships and attaining all other endings. There's NO way you would ever get it in a blind playthrough, you're going to have to have a day by day schedule you follow precisely.
Jacob Cruz
I've only ever failed on purpose so I don't actually know.
Christopher Roberts
Alright, makes sense then. I'll go through blind and just yolo it, I guess. Any easy quality of life tips I should look out for? Like stocking a certain items to maximize money, some nice weapon or recipe to craft early that makes my life easier, or things like that? I heard that wholesale helps a lot but it's not quite clear to me how it's going to work but I'll cross that bridge once I get there I guess.
just do Sterk's quests and sidequests first, then with your remaining time just do whatever you want.
This game is nearly impossible to fuck up on normal difficulty, they give you an insane amount of time to finish things. I had 90 days extra on my first blind playthrough.
just do Sterk's requests and keep him in your party for battles.

Does it make sense to sell materials back to NPCs to get money? I'm already running low on money and I haven't even finished the first assignment.
The Gnardi ring you can get from Esty with tickets will carry you for most of the early game.
Sebastian Flores
don't bully her
Cooper Walker
I wanna see Ku-chan and Mimi duke it out, full on fistfight.
Jose Harris
I've also just started playing Rorona DX, just finished the first assignment and I'm in April. I second not following guides, just planning things out carefully yet somewhat casually has been really fun. Are there complete English guides for the DX version?
Sebastian Sanchez
what's the difference in the dx version?
Jose Roberts
whats the relation between mana khemia and atelier games? alright to play these games in any order?
William Sanders
The DX and plus versions are essentially the same, so you can use the same guide.
Tyler Parker
Holy shit just fucking play
Adrian Turner
Rorona DX is actually Rorona Plus which came out as a re-release to bring it in line with Totori Plus and Meruru Plus graphically.
Story order is Rorona>Totori>Meruru
Meruru DX in particular added a scene that takes place in their timeline before and after visiting Rorona in Rorona DX's extra content plus a teaser for the then unannounced Lulua.
Isaac Clark
Atelier works in subsets. Each subset has a defined chronological order but they don't cross with one another. So like Mana Khemia doesn't matter to the Arland games, which don't matter to Iris or Dusk or Mysterious or whatever. It's generally accepted that Arland or Dusk are the best to start with nowadays, though the latter gets increasingly mixed reception as it goes on whereas the former is pretty much uniformly liked.
Jaxson Rogers
>Totori >better QoL Oof
Jaxson Barnes
I want to see Esty happily married and pregnant with my child
Why were you playing them out of order in the first place?
Austin Harris
>precisely No You just have to attain certain goals, like crafting certain items, for each period. Like the items that lower travel time. But you do need a guide for this, just not a day-by-day one.
Austin Brooks
Does it make a difference if I use an overripened plant or a ripe one or whatever? Do ingredients I store in the container slowly lose quality as time goes by? What should I do with them?
? Playing the trilogy in release order and im not autistic enough to go for the true ending on the first playthrough. Goddamn i dont even want to replay Totori, it's hella bad.
