In summary, BotW is easily one of the best video games released recently and maybe ever. It's also basically a hash job that reveals deep deficits in Nintendo's ability to render challenges and balanced gameplay, anticipate player originality and independence and facilitate flexible design. Almost every element of the game's design stands to benefit from a rework in one or more, sometimes many many, aspects, except perhaps the fundamental visuals of the environments. Overlooking all of these aspects of mediocre and imbalanced design, BotW is fun only in a shallow sense of the word - which is fun enough, but underwhelming for a game that is so large and technically full of content to have so little replay value.
