When you buy Stormblood, you get heavensward with it so if you want to buy the expansions, your options are to either:

With some luck you'll get a Heirsbane lookalike, but lorewise Garlean gunblades are just pistol swords, while Gunbreaker gunblades are vibroblades.

"Gunbreaker" job name makes me predict the job is lorewise a heavily armored melee combatant designed to charge and break firearm-wielding infantry lines.

Not really, there's a lot of people who just play it because it's just barely entertaining and/or their friends play it, and likewise there's a lot of people who don't have a high opinion of it but play it anyway, either due to sunk cost fallacy or, again, friends. Same here. I played at the request of friends, got to 70, and couldn't unsub quicker. I cannot for the life of me believe that anyone thinks the story was good. It was objectively shit and felt like I was reading a story written by a 14 year old.

Combat was okay-ish once 70, but getting there was hell on earth. The ONLY thing I feel the game has going for it is encounter design.

I think it's ok. As a videogame it's pretty shite but I have a friend who plays it with me and we generally have a good time. The combat is just passable enough for me to stay engaged, especially in the 60 and up fights. The story is crap save for HW, but it's also pretty nice to see all the nods to older games.

It's a 3/10 by yourself, a 5/10 with friends and a 5.5 if you genuinely like FF like I do.

I have 25 million banked from just naturally saving up and doing daily centurio hunts to upgrade gear. I recently farmed all the primal ponies for Kirin and sold those crafting mats for even more money.

This game peaked a long time ago and unless ShadowBringers proves to be a masterpiece that isnt Heavensward 3.0 it’ll stay that way. Kirin Osode was not necessarily so, but given the Four Lords had already started by then and Eureka was already giving XI glamours, it was not a stretch of a guess to say "the last part of Eureka will give the Armor which was tied to the Four Lords in XI".

Blufever said two races and his profile image that he mentioned included rabbit and lion. The mistake made by the French translation team not only gave us the race name Hrothgar on the race list which indicates were getting two, but also an NPC during I believe the Gladiator quest say something about each race like "Elezen's pointy ears" but for Hrothgar the data files say "Hrothgar's glorious manes" which of course lions have. So were lined up for a big reveal of a big bara catman race to go alongside Viera. I just don't see Yoshi making two full races though, so maybe genderlock is real.

Au Ra in lore were never claimed to be rare. They just weren't mentioned. They became canon with HW and seeing Yugiri. Basically Au Ra weren't rare, they just didn't visit Eorzea much. The opposite is true for Viera. Lore before their addition states that males are so rare that they haven't even been SEEN by anyone ever expect female Viera deep in one specific woods.

Lore is created and amended to fit the state of the game as the devs intend it. All they need to do is introduce a questline somewhere in the expansion content that produces a motive for male viera to show up, and it will work. 'Good enough' they'll say, dusting off their hands and moving on to ruin another aspect of the game. Because of how Viera lore isn't exclusive to XIV, this will be how they wrangle it into line. probably in the expansion after shadowniggers, if they're as dumb as I suspect

I actually prefer this, I hate long rotations and much prefer WoWs combat to XIVs. XIV only really has encounter design/music going for it. And for the people complaining about casualisation of WoW, did you people play vanilla? Because there sure as hell weren't any more rotation skills than there are now, just lots of buffs and flair, which admittedly I do miss. But things were definitely not more complex for most classes.

People were doing no doubles for zurvan too so they could cheese the 2nd mandatory soar with tank lb. I think Zurvan was worse though because people were actually locking to 1 tank/1 healer slots so they could push DPS more. The devs learned from this so you can't solo tank in Seiryuu and the add phase heal check is very stressful for a single healer.

I do, and they constantly rave about how good the game is, and I feel like they are lying to themselves to satisfy their mmo addiction.

Nothing in the game aside from maybe the music and encounter design feels like it is good. Its all really uninspired feeling and like everything was made to just have a passing grade so they could get by with a minimum effort.

On my alt I was a sprout till late SB and I didn't level boost.

I think it's just based on time. I had a guy in Orbonne with the sprout and he didn't use a skip boost. Road to 60 + skipping everything and knowing what to do is enough.

I was a sprout until midway through SB you autist, it takes a while for you to reach the requirements for it to go away.
