I think most of the new designs for the characters look cool, especially Jade. However the issue with abandoning the sex appeal is that it has been a mainstay in the franchise for 10+ games. If some hypothetical new fighting game franchise released today with armored/clothed characters, nobody would be upset over lack of sex appeal.
