It is alright. If you enjoy it in real life, you'll probably enjoy it online.

You don't have to smell the garbage that has taken the form of a man sitting across from you
You don't have to explain or argue about the rules of the game

Cons:
Once you 'git gud' you'll start seeing the same decks over and over again
It is a semi pay to win system

It's been a while since I played it. I got bored of seeing the same fucking decks over and over again. There are a billion fucking cards yet only sixty of them ever see any use. It was to the point that I knew every card in my opponents deck after playing one fucking card. There is some fun to be had when you hit a chance encounter with another person playing with a deck of their own design. I don't know how much this has changed since I last played during their Christmas event and haven't really had the desire to jump back into it. It beats local card shop play to death if you are playing in block.

Was I lied to? If I don't play ranked will the game match me with someone of "equal skill" or a random dude?

There is no hidden ranking system. There's a hidden system that matches you with the same power level of decks in unranked.

As for ranked, there's nothing hidden about it. You face the same people in your rank.

It really is self centered selfishness really. Since the booth babes are there to cater to a more casual mainstream audience who may not give shit attention if hot chicks were not there to initially draw their eye. Which then can get them to pay attention to the cards and hence potentially grow the player base by baiting casuals observers into becoming paying customers/players.
That is reason for the booth babe. Now people like that fag who whined about whined about them booth babe area already fans/players/paying customers to the product being sold so they being so damn self centered cant fathom the reason as to spending money on them girls cause it is not something or other that will benefit them more directly thinking that that money would be better spent on whatever the fuck they think would grow the shit more. Again failing to realize that shit is actually there to help grow the damn game.
To boil it down as simply as possible nerds like that get mad that some money is being spent on some sort of demographic that is not them and hence view it as total waste since they feel they should be catered to 100 percent of the time always no matter what again like selfcentered faggots they really are.

Yes. Its a great game. The amount of free decks and, in extension, cards, is unmatched.
