ANTHEM

Okay Yea Forums, fill me in.

This game I've never heard of is suddenly released by Bioware and because of the bad metacritic rating everyone on this board is keking at EA's failure, but what was the problem with this game in the first place?

It wasn't a 10/10 masterpiece

it's fucking shit.

its a looter shooter with a dull story, little to no endgame, and you fly. thats literally the whole game.

It's a Destiny clone that somehow manages to fuck up more than Destiny

The problem is that it's a looter shooter with just 30 hours of content and a shit story

The gameplay is meh
Only good thing about it is the graphics

I wish warframe had a good endgame so we didn't need shit like this

Its very similar to destiny. The only thing i have disliked about it is the story and characters you dialogue with. Besides that the gameplay is fun, its a looter shooter like destiny. Its a decent time waster what more to say?

It was intended by EA to be their answer to Destiny. Basically it's a TPS Destiny that at the very least, needed another 6 months work.

>Mediocre story with no player impact from a studio that is known for good, player driven stories (at least, before DA2/ME3)
>Very cookie cutter missions that cause the game to start feeling boring before the short campaign is even over
>Padding in the middle of the campaign to draw it out
>Tons of fairly lengthy loading screens
>A bunch of missing QOL features
>"hub" that has no reason to be there and only slows things down due to spread out map and slow move speed
>Low variety of enemies (only 4-5 bosses total in the game)
>End game is very minimal, only 3 dungeons and "radiant" style missions ala skyrim
>Almost every aspect of this game features bugs or bad design choices
>Abilities, while pretty, fill the screen with particle effects and often make it very hard to see (especially for the "melee" class)
>Overworld is pretty bland and doesn't really have any reason to be there
>Extremely low weapon variety and even less weapon visual variety

On the plus side, it does have quite nice graphics and the gameplay is a lot of fun for a few hours before the honeymoon period wears off. Also, there are a few characters that clearly got more love/dev time, as the VA/facial animations range from meh to great based on the character.

Overall it's not terrible, it's just very mediocre and makes a lot of mistakes that other games in the genre fixed years ago and anthem had no reason to repeat. Might be worth picking up down the road when there's been a bunch more content and it's only 25 bucks.

If you're still interested in it now, get the $5 origin access, you get 10 hrs of anthem and you will prob lose interest by that point and save $55.

tl;dr: it feels like a games some suit with a checklist and no connection to the actual marketbase made.

Well yeah, it was pretty blatantly straight from reveal that it was devised specifically to be EA's answer to Destiny.

Just because it's similar to an existing game doesnt necessarily mean it's going to turn out like anthem.

>but what was the problem with this game in the first place?
6 years of "development" while having no actual vision about what the game is supposed to be. It started out as immersive roleplaying experience, like mass effect, but with multiplayer - but along the way stumbled in development multiple times, changed writers and producers and ended up a generic looter/shooter with lack of content, world and graphics lacking identity and looking as generic as possible and game appealing to no one - since people who made it could not decide what about it was supposed to be interesting beyound ability to fly

Basically, its a game no one needed and wanted, which development went through because of corporate retardation.

This.

Honestly the game isn't perfect, but it's awesome and I've sunk like 7 hours into it just today alone.

Yea Forums has literally zero reason to hate this game other than the fact that it was made by le evil EA. Autistic screeching ensues, noone of any import hearts it outside this contrarian echo chamber, and soon enough every shitposter here will have forgotten their impotent rage over a game they never actually played.

Just a reminder, Yea Forums: people with downs syndrome call non-retarded people "normies" because it makes them feel better about themselves.

Anthem is a solid bargain bin title. The honeymoon period for the gameplay didn't even last a couple hours when I played the demo. The weapons, shooting, melee, abilities, enemies, flight, customization (color customization was fine), and loot are too shallow.

0.5 EA bucks were deposited on your account. 4000 more posts, and you might afford that javeline skin you want

No reason to hate it except "le evil EA". Oh, and all the sizable flaws, many of which are not something that can be fixed in a patch.

Well you see [LOADING] it's nothing more than a [LOADING] half-assed Destiny rip-off with not a lot of [LOADING] content padded out with grinding (or microtransactions) with [LOADING] barely an original bone in [LOADING] it's body.

It’s a better Destiny, though that’s not saying much. If you like Iron Man this is the game for you, otherwise wait for updates and price drops.

>0.5 deposited
>javelin skin costs $5
>only need 9 more posts to get it
Based EA commissions

Despite having six years of development time, Bioware's A-team, and examples to learn from (Destiny, Division, Warframe, etc), it still manages to be a boring (but pretty) looter shooter with a mediocre story, and not much to do.

>anyone who likes what Yea Forums tells me not to like is a shill
>getaloadofthisguy.flac

The game has flaws, noone said it didn't you fucking mongoloid. Literally every game in history has flaws, does that mean every game ever made is deserving of the Yea Forums "It's shit" seal of disapproval? Hating a game for your own autistic reasons is one thing, but saying a game is shit just because you hate it is just plain retarded.

I played the Anthem demo and was bored out of my fucking mind less than one hour into it.

It's fucking mainstream shovelware. Anthem was probably brainstormed in one single marketing strategy meeting, by a bunch of suits that don't actually play videogames.

>"Gamers love robot suits, right?"
>"Absolutely, especially with rocket boosters on them."
>"Good - let's allow players to choose colors of their suit too. That's REAL depth."
>"I agree. We also also need edgy dialogue. Mature gamers want mature language!"
>"Be sure we have at least one African-American squadmate, one Asian squadmate, one Female squadmate to go with the Caucasian squadmate."

In my first post in the thread I specifically said it wasn't terrible. But to say "It's awesome" is just as wrong. The game is mediocre or worse in every way except graphics.

No romances. Now that it flopped BioWare should add romances for guaranteed sales.

RIP Bioware
