The system was more steampunk, Elizabeth was influenced by your choices. The more brutal you were the more brutal she became. Comstock was supposed to help you out. Then they scrapped what they had finished and made it linear because 2k told them they're taking too long to develop a game. So Levine rewrote the whole story into "too deep for you" bullshit ending

I didn't like the changes they made to Rapture by tying it to the hip to Infinite and interlinking their plots, but even still I really enjoyed BaS.

Partly getting to see the city again (really, anything Rapture related is just great) and especially before the collapse, partly because I actually liked how the wrapped up the plot. Again, didn't like the changes to Rapture and hated Infinite's plot, but I felt BaS actually wrapped it up in a rather nice and elegant way, while satisfyingly demonstrating and ensuring that Infinite did and always had played second fiddle to the original.

He didn't retcon 2, in fact there were several minor references to 2 in BaS to confirm it's existence in the plot/lore/whatever. He just didn't delve into anything from 2 because he wasn't involved, which seems fair to me.

This. Bioshock Infinite could have actually been good without the pseudointelectual quantum time travel shit and with more focus on socio-politics, and horror like the first game.

As was posted, his interpretation that Suchong completed the bond retcons the continuation of the Protector program by Alexander, which removes the Alpha Series, which removes the entirety of BioShock 2.

I'm really skeptic on the fact of Levine being actually able to make a good non-linear rpg game now or is he just more focused in making an interactive movie. Bioshock 1 was ment to be more rpg-like but they dumbed it down too.

I think he kind of waved a wand a little to squeeze in his version of the plot without fucking things up;

That was already there though, Alexander says that the Big Daddies would protect the Sisters, but would wander off afterwards, the fact that the Daddy stays and hugs the Sisters after killing Suchong conflicts with this.

The Alpha Series were the next step in that it forced the Daddy to stay under threat of death, after that backfired I believe they used the pheromone system later used on the general populace.

Again, I can see it changing things up but no more than what 2 changed so I don't see it as such of a problem. It's not like he literally said "Alpha series never existed and 2 is entirely retconned!" he just did his own version of the plot for that specific event (which to be fair was portrayed originally in his first game anyway) and twisted 2's arm a little, but not like he threw it under the bus. The fact that there's a bunch of 2 references throughout BaS to begin with is a nice indicator.

Bioshock 1 already has a tape with Suchong's death where he's killed after agitating a little sister, so that plothole exists since Bioshock 2. My headcanon is that this big daddy got taken down by security and nobody figured out that it actually successfully bonded.

I'd thought it was that the Suchong-killing BD had been conditioned as far as reacting when the girl was hurt but otherwise it had no capacity to follow her around and protect her, so it was that which took later finalizing.
