Edge guarding is where you don't let your opponent get back to the ledge. In the example I stated with lucas, he can use freeze to kill at like ~60 if he hits you with a fully delayed one. Thunder goes through opponents and doesn't break upon hitting someone, so that's incredible at gimping too. Fire is somewhat useful every now and again, but usually you're better off with freeze/thunder. Just don't let your opponent get back on stage. This game revolves around edgeguarding more than neutral imo.

Watch this, ignore the fact it's a montage, then come back to me. They have true 0-death combos out of a d-throw (which are hard to learn) but if executed well will lead to a stock. Nana has gotten buffed massively since brawl in the recovery department, now when you up-b she won't die every fucking time you do it. It has a rising hitbox now making gimping harder, etc. Even as sopo icies are still dangerous, provided you're not terrible.

Neutral is when both characters have equal amounts of stage on each side. Disadvantage state is when one character has more stage control than the other, and advantage is the same except from the perspective of the prospering player.

Wolf's getting really popular, I hope he doesn't get nerfed. He's strong on the ground and in the air, but his inability to gimp and the reliance on 2-framing with f-tilt/d-smash is a big flaw in a game with much weaker recoveries than in Smash 4. You have to be extremely careful if you dare to go offstage, because that up-b range won't be saving you.

Lucina gets like 2/3s of what the tipper bonus would be for marth on like every hit. Even if you are the best marth player you need to get 2/3 tippers to do better than a lucina playing normally. In normal gameplay that just isn't feasible. Lucina also has better tech chases and some other specific stuff.

Lucina basically gets mini tippers on everything she does now. Her normal hits are MUCH better than Marth missing the tipper but not really that much worse than Marth getting it, and she can get it from all positions and situations while Marth will have to commit to playing defensively or setups to get his. Lucina can just do what she wants

These are mainly usage tier lists though, results in tournaments. Some characters in mid and bottom tier are there only because they haven't seen much play.

Potential doesn't earn placement. Otherwise Shulk would have been beast in 4. If its not practical to actually get away with in play than the character is just useless. Hence why IC placement at low is currently justified.

If they changed the physics on their jumps and gave them a bit more air control they would have so many more options. As they are right now it's impossible to hit someone remotely competent after you've launched them or get back to the stage safely.
Ryu's hadokens should be a bit more spammable too. There's no reason Ryu of all characters should lose a fireball war to every other character with a projectile, and it would help distinguish him from Ken a bit more (in that Ken would not longer be "better Ryu").

why does everything have such little endlag in this game. i should be able to rack off a massive punish if someone misses a smash attack, or a slow ass B move of some sort. but 9/10 times the motherfucker is able to roll away or jab as soon as i'm trying to put the punish in.
i can still punish with something like a tilt or a jab/grab, but for that big of a fuckup i feel like i should be able to do a bit more damage. i was fighting a ganon that literally only used smashes and b moves, and all i could do after he did a smash in neutral for no reason, was foxtrot up and gentleman him. anything else and he had enough time to roll away, spotdodge, whatever. gay as fuck. makes every game take 4x longer

(People call this '2-framing' but that's a misnomer) This forces Wolf to be more careful with his recovery options than you imply. The swordies only stand to lose as time goes on, too. Having mostly big, single-hit moves to use and liking aerial approaches means they will start getting fucked up by parrying, but that's dependent on people actually putting in the time to use the mechanic properly and then learning when to use it in those specific matchups. They are in a better position than Wolf though.
He has the tools to rack up percent and be annoying on top of moves with kill power, but I'm saying that doesn't matter. He's not overwhelmingly strong, and has a glaring flaw in his kit.

Little Mac belongs in low tier in Smash 4 for lacking an air game and a recovery, only having a really good ground game to compensate (it doesn't, in a game so centered on jumps). A lot of people currently put him near the very bottom in Ult for good reason. I'm not saying Wolf belongs there with him. I'm saying Wolf *could* be a high tier were it not for a big flaw, a shit recovery. I would rather see him placed in mid tier.

Because they want you to perfect guard to earn your punishes.

He's got good shit, but he's also fairly garbage at a lot of things, solid mid tier

If his down-b did less damage on sweetspot and did more shit when just landing normally it'd be fine, as it stands it's usually not worth using since it's a worse Focus Attack

Why are you acting like shit recovery completely decimates a character with an otherwise great moveset like Wolf? Cloud has one of the worst recoveries in the game, but dominated Smash 4, and remains high tier in Ultimate. Chrom also has favorable placings on pro tier lists despite also having dogshit recovery. Having bad recovery doesn't make a character bad so long as they make up for it, which Wolf does.

It needs to pop shields. Tired of people expecting something, shielding, and negating completely his down b. It'd be nice if he had something to him that made him more durable. Being heavier or another jump, I dunno. I don't know if they ever changed weight or added a jump to a character through patches in Smash 4 to know if there's anything to compare it to or not.
