Leon Kennedy is the star of RE4 which was one of the best games on the Gamecube. Leon move set wouldn't have to be too reliant on guns. He could use his knife, and round house kicks for a lot of his attacks. Of course I personally would like to see use of his shotgun and RPG. I feel like his final smash should use the P.R.L.

They're just boring to look at. The Smash roster usually is pretty radically diverse looking even among the other "anime" styled characters. Fire Emblem characters on the other hand just blend in with each other, having a few of them is fine but if there's too many then a big portion of the roster is spent on bunch of character that look a lot like each other and even play similarly. Cloud for instance is a much more interesting looking giant sword wielder than Ike.

How does someone like Ike and Robin look similiar? Not even just those two, but then you have someone like Hector who's decked out in armour compared to someone like Micaiah who dresses lighter. How does Cloud's sword look cooler than Ragnell? And Ike's movepool emulates like his own game with aether emulating aether and his side B emulating the luna part of Aether.

I would like to chime in that it does somewhat bother me that every single FE character in Smash except Robin has a cape. The only other Smash character I can think of with a cape is Ganondorf and his looks completely different, like a rug or something. It's almost as if they felt they put way too much work into animating the cape and wanted an excuse to use it as often as possible. (I'll admit, it is a nice looking cape.)

Ironically enough, Byleth doesn't wear a cape so if she were to be in she'd be another one that breaks the pattern, but then again she wears her jacket like a cape so maybe not.

Ike isn't a nobleman. He's like the one FE protagonist who isn't, fair enough, but he isn't a nobleman.

But you know what games sold well for example? Fates. And Takumi was a main character in that game while also being fairly popular with FEfans. He uses a bow and is dressed in Oriental armour rather than European style armour. I'm not saying Corrin's playstyle is a breath of fresh air compared to his other FE lords, but Sakurai clearly has opportunities to vary up the FE reps but ultimately decides to jerk off to swords more.

I would like him but the fact that he can actually fight is kind of a huge spoiler for Undertale so it seems like an implausible choice. I can't think of any other Smash fighters who spoil their game by merely existing.

But the key difference between this and practically all other merchandise, is that he wasn't satisfied with it just being regular Tougou merchandise, he passed it off as official Team Shanghai Alice merchandise even though it wasn't. Naturally ZUN did not like this at all and actually took legal action, but he actually failed in court with the judge claiming that it wasn't mainstream enough for the general public (normalfags) to know of it and thus he had no case.

In Japan being the king of a niche is apparently not enough to enforce a trademark on the rights of being the author alone, provided random people on the street don't know of your product(s).
It was after this you started seeing Touhou fangames on consoles etc which wasn't a thing before.
