Going to play this for the first time, any essential mods I should download beforehand?

Fallout Fixt is a must
Fixt
dont download this, it fucks your game up
DONT DO IT
I just played it completely vanilla and it was fine. Great game.
>any essential mods I should download beforehand?
I have a burning hatred for any fucker that asks this question.
This
>doesn't want his first experience with a game to be the very best
anyways i don't think there's any mods for fallout 1 in the first place
>anyways i don't think there's any mods for fallout 1 in the first place
Ditto.
To be fair, some games require minor mods to support modern resolution or prevent play through ending bugs. However I will agree that people who completely rebalance a game before even trying it are jackasses.
i thought they were all for fallout 2
>downloading mods for first playthrough
Fucking zoomers.
Why? not all games run flawlessly on modern pcs and Fallout Fixt has the option to remain completely purist.
What they're really asking is how to run it on a modern computer with widescreen and a familiar control style.
for some games like dragon age origins or fallout new vegas mods are almost essential for a first playthrough
nothing wrong with bug and text fix mods
same
GOG or Steam Yea Forums?
Protip: Combat speed can be changed in the options. Default speed is somewhere between "snail" and "glacier" but you can crank it so high that the animations become invisible. Use that slider if the game feels too slow.
Gog almost always but with fallout you may as well pirate and not give bethesda money. Just shoot a check to tim cain or something.
You need the high-res patch that allows the game to run properly on modern displays. If the screen suddenly goes black, bringing up and closing the esc menu should fix it.
Pro-tip: shift-click makes your character run
doesnt fixt have high res with it?
This doesn't really apply to fallout but what about games that are broken without mods on modern systems you fucking retarded zoomer poser
>mods for a 4 hour long game
>4 hour
do americans really rush through games
>bethesda logo on OG Fallout
Takes them 4 hours to ragequit because game is too hard for them. Yeah it becomes short after you play it once and know where is everything.
Better than that, there is no other logo.
We can all thank Bethesda for creating this series.
Used to be the patches from No Mutants Allowed and you're good. Fixt seems to be the thing now, but don't install all the additional content, like the Fallout Restoration mod, that's them restoring partial content that was cut out/unfinished when the game was released. Not necessarily bad, but not for a first time.
So install the fixes only version.
Oh god I just noticed it. it fucking BURNS
Fallout sprites looked nice on old 15" CRTs. They weren't fucking gigantic and pixelated.
On modern displays it just doesn't looks like it was supposed to. Hi-res patch is just a way to get more pleasant experience out of the game.
I'll have you know it took me 7 hours not 4.
you can see everything there is to see in the game in 4 hours. it is a very short game.
I genuinely hate anyone who posts "walkthroughs" or "clips" from games on Youtube and having a million different mods enabled so what's being depicted has no informational value on top of looking garishly trashy. And those who, in response to someone asking for gameplay tips, responds with "just use this overpowered mod weapon lol" like everyone has it.
I exhausted dialogue options with every relevant character and got the best ending slides via sidequests for all the locations (except Boneyard which is bugged) and my playthrough was only 12 hours.
4-5 hour sounds about right for the main story.
Save often. GURPS is that one system where you can get a game over at any time for being unlucky enough to roll a 1.
Fallout doesn't use gurps anymore.
You can still get rekt by a crit hit from one of the rats at the beginning.
that i won't deny
I guess.
Op should be asking for bug fixes and stuff like that.
Too many retards on Yea Forums claim you should play overhaul mods of you first playthrough for a few games.
Especially desu ex fags. Like jesus fuck why are they trying to convince people to download GMDX or Shifter for their first playthrough?
Fixt, there are some bug fixes. Also the version on Steam and GOG is the censored European version and Fixt will uncensor it. Beyond that it's fine.
