Which is the best silent hill game on Xbox 360?
Bearing in mind I havnt played any of them just seen the movie's. Do I need to play the earlier ones to get the story?

SH1-4 are all more or less connected, and have next to nothing to do with the western shit that followed after Jewnami broke the original Team-Silent.

Seriously mate, just grab the whole OG quadrilogy for your PC, and patch 'em up with the Enhanced Edition mods :

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! Don't install under C:\Program Files\ !
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.

Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the teeth, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.

-Play in the release order
-Never play below Normal difficulty
-Replaying them all is recommended
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help

An Xbox of any sort is literally the worst possible platform to play a Silent Hill game. Next to Nintendos that is.

The undeniable golden era of the SH series was between 1999-2004, with SH1-4. They're the ones you want to play, or rather need to. In release order preferably.
They were all either made for Sony's systems exclusively (SH1), or later on ported to PC (2-4). Xbox fat got ports of 2 and 4 only, but those ports do NOT work properly at all on 360.

And before you ask for the millionth time: No, you do NOT want to touch the god-awful "HD""Collection" of 2010s. Same goes with everything not made by the original developers.

I just remembered I did play 4, was forgettable, I liked it even less than downpour.

On 360? Probably Homecoming, sadly. The HD Collection and Downpour are awful.
