In the early to mid 90s it was platformers like Super Mario World and fighters like Mortal Kombat and SF II). To a lesser extent a few standout RPGs. From 95 to 98 or so N64 was pretty dominant in terms of "killer app" titles, with best sellers in games like SM64, Mario Kart 64, OoT, although the console itself didn't sell as well as the PS1 (which also had a lot of popular games around then like FF7, Grand Theft Auto, MGS).

Toward the very end of the 90s the focus shifted to Madden and sports titles. A few years after that it shifted to FPS, especially Call of Duty. Lately it's been MOBAs and arena shooters.

The movie in question is allegedly Ace Ventura, which the main bad guy turns out to be a >girl, the big reveal at the end is Ace turns the girl around to show a tucked in weiner in panties.

Story wise, the start is the best part, it only gets more generic as it goes on. Gameplay wise, it gets better, but really only when fighting bosses since there's an actual risk of dying in those.

I love comics like this because you just know the person drawing them had rabidly consumed that media for decades and decades, and now that better alternatives exist they're offering up their childhood memories to the altar of virtue signalling.
