Comfy Friday Night Tetris Thread

Since Tetris 99 has been out for some time I thought I'd start a Tetris thread.

What was your first? What version are you playing now? What was your highest place in Tetris 99?

For people who have the itch and need a quick fix, here you go, from the official site.

So we're all in agreement Tetris "Ultimate" is the worst iteration of Tetris and Ubisoft should never touch the franchise again right?

Does anyone know how tetris 99 works with the grey line stuff? I feel like I can play pretty well then get dicked with three quarters of my screen filling up in seconds.

T-Spins send more garbage than Tetrises do, people spend the early game building those

It's the garbage system if you're quick enough pulling off a tetris or 3-lines will clear up some of the garbage and you should probably switch to attackers so you can get those guys off you

Has anyone properly made a tier list for all official Tetris versions or would that be too much work?

I played a lot of tetris when I got out of the ER for panic attacks on a NES and GB emulator on my phone.

Got a gameboy color and immedietly got tetris. Its one of those games where if I feel like shit or having a bad day, I pop it in and just play with a podcast on.

Hell Tetris 99 came out when I was incredibly depressed and I spent all day playing it. I got 4th place

So Tetris has a special place to me as stupid as that sounds

cultris. fuck tetris99 and FUCK NINTENDO SWITCH

My first was probably one of the ones you find on google which I've played a bit of, but most of what I've played has been the GB one, which is good enough for me, especially messing with pallets on my GBA. Might check out PPT or 99 one day, but I'm not very good or competitive.

Whats the best way to play tetris on an android phone?

Yeah I had one of the most stressful days at work today, spent the rest of the day playing the Tetris in the OP's link when I got home.

It's really cathartic.

What's the best mobile version of Tetris? I love Axis but my 3DSXL is a tad cumbersome.

>What was your first
Tetris for Gameboy
>What version are you playing now
currently vollying back and forth between 99 and the NES Tetris

Its just a pure game and great to de stress

There'a Tetris and Tetris Blitz for mobile if you want official versions, I don't have enough time to sift through all the clones.

Both are madw by EA though so maybe the clones would be preferable in this case.

NES or GB emulator

And get the roms

Way too much work. Plus, let's face it, with Yea Forums's current demographic, they'd probably put the legitimately good games like Tetris for NES in shit tier because they're "too old" or t-spins are too weak.

Yeah, I think that goes without saying

Ya'll niggers ever played Tetris hell?

I came in 26th and it was totally lucky. Super fun game

First Tetris I played was the one on Game Boy. Burned though an entire set of AAs on an international flight handing it between me and my brother.

T-spins aren't "weak" in singleplayer, outside of the execution barrier. When you're playing endurance alone t spins are just another fun option for weird holes.

They were definitely a fun little maneuver, they just didn't send a fuckton of garbage to your opponents in multiplayer. At least, in the older ones like GB Tetris.

>Get flooded with garbage instantly when the game starts
Cool game

t spin nerf when

Well, the majority of old tetris is singleplayer, that's what it's really known for. Multiplayer tetris didn't really kick off until they patched up the basic mechanics to add a lot more legitimate choice to any given situation, with bonuses for difficult technical maneuvers.

Multiplayer Tetris has had fierce competition for a long time lad. Way before sending garbage was even possible.

I'm aware, but that was a very passive competition. Not that it isn't difficult, or enjoyable, but it's basically an entirely different game.

>first time playing 99
>level 1
>3rd place
What the actual fuck just happened. Is it normal to not get any grays until top 10? Feel like I got incredibly lucky.

More passive yes, but I wouldn't quite call it an entirely different game.
