The ones in the demo are the full starting roster. Nyotengu and Phase 4 are DLC for preordering and the deluxe edition respectively. Mai Shiranui (KOF guest character from DOA5) is confirmed to be a returning DLC, along with another KOF guest.

In their defense, they never really got into their backstories in 5 and personally I did find Honoka mysterious arm interesting on her debut trailer.

I should be more annoyed for this but they can't chase Kasumi forever and she seems to be finally at peace
at least she got it better than Sophitia where she got fucked harder and harder to the point they got no more choise but to reboot the series

The game plays better than I thought, although they dont seemed to have changed the movesets much. The Noob button is a hit n miss. I'm gonna be honest, I was one of the people who bashed the game after the last beta because of how badly it performed. The new "frame rate" mode fixes that completely, and after getting to D rank with Honoka I'm totally sold on the game. I love the changes, the music is bangin, Honoka's tits in the bra costume are fantastic and her new power geyser move is super satisfying. Now I just need to find a good price for the game online.

I've had a couple of laggy matches in this beta but it was my own fault for fighting red bar opponents. As soon as I started accepting only blue or green it was totally fine, with the very rare douchebag that goes from green in search to red during the fight.

Just wait for the Ultimate Edition. In the meantime just play Soul Calibur 6 or Tekken 7.

Personally I don't care for the graphics as long as the animations are good. The primary reason I got into this genre in the first place is because I loved the special attack animations in Street Fighter/MvC games in the late-90s/early-2000s. Learning how to actually play is just the cherry-on-top for me.

Man, I hate Rig as a character but his Fatal Rush combo is pretty damn brutal. Tons of kicks followed up by a spinning kick to the face that you can actually hear the crunch from the neck snapping.

How? Honoka's has the easiest attacks to pull out and her punches tend to stunlock people really easily.

I miss Kasumi's 4P+K charge attack.

I'm a Honoka main so maybe I can give you some tips? Been using her since DoA5. A really good opening is her Back+K, followed by holding down. It puts her into a dodge motion that you can combo into either P,P,K or just K as a mixup, then follow with her full P,P,P,Forward+P combo. The mixup of P and K after the dodge really screws with people and even if they get wise you can throw.

Same here and coincidentally been also alternating between Honoka and Nico. Honoka I had a bit of practice on how freestyle playstyle on DOA5's demo, but her move variety is all over the place. Nico is easier and more straight-forward, but Honoka in my opinion is more fun to play.

Honoka's a god damn international treasure.

Better than 5 for sure, but you can't really compare it to 4 since so much has changed.

Right now, DOA5LR is a much better game because it's had so much added to it over the years. But it's definitely better than the base game.

To be honest, DOA is probably one of the most casual friendly fighters out there. Theres depth and complexity to it, but if you're just play for kicks its pretty accessible and pretty fun

Is there no way to have the potential combos on the screen like in DOA5? I liked being able to see all the follow-up moves in the corner of the screen without having to open up the command list.

So I played the demo a few hours. I like it much better than I should be. I think it has to do something with the fact they brought back colors in the game. I thought I will hate the super meter but I like it. Much better than the system in 5. The graphics are pretty bad but functional. For some reason every character shines like a laminated card. Tried out a few characters, movesets are mostly the same as I see. So I went with one of my old favorite Bayman and used what I remembered. Needless to say it felt good wrecking beginners even with the fucking lag... holy shit, almost as bad as DOA5, kill me, why can't this fucking game step up, it is just a fucking room with two characters. The back/forward S I understand but I guess I'm a brainlet for the SSSS. What is the point of that? Can I use it any time without meter? 4 free quick attacks?

The 3 way system is too easy since most of the commonly used kicks and punches are mid.

This. DoA is one of the only 3D fighters where you can simply mash buttons and pull off neat looking combos unlike say Tekken where it's a lot more limb based so you end up repeating really bland moves.

For all the fanfare they have, the 4S attacks don't do that much damage.

Protip: in DOA it is not enough to know your moveset but all the enemy moves as well. Just by recognizing the strings and acting accordingly helps much more than actually knowing combos.

They're much more devastation if using them at the end of a full SSSS combo due to the damage stack, but yeah it's basically just a get out of jail free card or a quick way to end a match.

I know and that's the problem I'm facing with contemplating my purchase. If only crossplay was a standard for all fightan.

Its a combination of the ground game at the moment being dead and the side step being super good. Honoka's anti-side step options are lacking compared to other characters. In 5 she had fantastic retracking so all was good. But now that retracking is dead and gone she is struggling to stop people from side stepping. They nerfed her 1P into the ground (formally best tracking move) which really really sucks.

Furthermore, the game is looking to be very neutral based. Honoka has the WEAKEST neutral out of the entire cast sadly, so this is terrible. Especially since the ground game and dead and the wake up situation is so scary. WUK and teching up being faster than in 5 is annoying and having no way to force tech anyone means Honoka's pressure ends the moment her juggle ends. She has to eat whatever the opponent throws at her and if she blocks a mid WUK her range is so shitty she can't properly retaliate against someone who knows what their doing. In 5 she could easily ignore the WUK game by abusing her 1P hard knockdown and other wall set ups, keeping up pressure.

Its bad and its a lot. It means that the console to the game takes 8 frames to register your input. It just means you can't do certain things on reaction. Holds is broken with the holdbutton but it requires that you know the timing.

If I remember correctly from 5, you break out of combo throws by pressing the throw command yourself in between their combos. So, once Tina throws you to the ground the first time, you can break out by hitting throw when you land.

Why is using down forward down forward moves on a DS4 pad so awkward? Almost every character has a move like that in the middle of its combo challenge and it's just hell.

HOnoka is a soft mimic in that her moveset is an amalgamation of all the other characters (think Necrid in SC2) kind of hard to learn because she has all these stances from Jann Lee , Helena and Brad but has a lot of tools and potential.
