Emulate it, PSP emulation works surprisingly well
Is this a good game to start playing as my first tactics game? I hear it ranking as some peoples favorite game of all time but I have never played anything like it.
Sure, I don't see why not.
Though for me, it's Final Fantasy Tactics.
It has a very generous mechanic that lets you go back up to fifty moves in battle in case you really fucked up. Very beginner-friendly.
How long is this game?
I've watched some videos of it and it feels like some singular random battles take upwards of like 45 minutes to complete.
Only the PSP version, it might be worth adding
Only if you mod it.
Any noteworthy mods I should know of before trying to emulate?
PSP version? yes, absolutely.
Don't listen to this goon, play it on the PSP as-is. Literally the only thing wrong with the game is the crafting system, and that's just some tedium.
The SNES ROM with the English translation patch is easy enough to find on Google.
It's real fucking slow, my man. You're looking at 35+ hours first a first playthrough, 40 hours if you want to do shit like unlock Deneb, and double that if you want to do postgame content.
One Vision is practically essential.

And the class balance.
And the character balance.
And the leveling system.
And the equipment system.
The PSP version is full of crippling flaws that ruin it.
>Okay Matsuno, here it is, your baby, the first tactics game you ever made. Now you're older and wiser, you've got FFT, FFTA, and Knight of Lodis under your belt. It's time to remake your golden boy to your heart's content, let your imagination run wild!
>...
>Matsuno?
>No... Matsuno, stop.
>MATSUNO NO
He had nothing to do with the Knight of Lodis.
Look at this non-canon cutie!
EXCUSE ME DO YOU LIKE ARCHERS
Honestly, not sure. The SNES version with a patch has this weird bug that freezes your progress. You could try the PSP version maybe.
ppsspp
yes.
I'd rather have archers broken than useless.
I started playing recently and I think it's one of the hardest tactics games that I have ever played.
Final Fantasy Tactics for instance seems much easier.
>Dual Dagger Ninja Lord Denam
I hate the duke for getting her killed. Fuck him, I wanted to kill him and vyce myself.
>he chose chaos
I almost forgot about this. But this was one of the best tactics game I played.
I feel like digging it out again now.
>slaughtering innocents
>deposing one tyrant for another
FFT needs more grinding than LUCT does to keep up with enemies, but LUCT fucks you over more with map layout and retarded guest characters who have a death wish.
>tfw we share the board with people who are incapable of even googling ''psp emulator''
You're supposed to be about 10 levels below the enemy in Tactics. Grinding isn't part of the intended experience.
You literally cannot beat Dorter Slums as a Squire.
Fuck that battle
Play Tactics Marche is wrong Advanced instead.
Has nothing to do with what I said and isn't even true.
wotl is better, but you need to play ff12 to really get a good picture for why ivalice ended up the way it did. The Occuria were fucking right.
No you don't.
It gives context to the lucavi and what they are and why they do as they please without interference from that world's supposed gods.
>You're supposed to be about 10 levels below the enemy in Tactics.
why
FFT already gives you context you stupid fuck.
To make them seem threatening.
Levels are completely irrelevant but they're a good way to detect brainlets that complain about being "underleveled"
it barely even explains what they lucavi are and it doesn't get into where they came from at all. The only context it gives it the politics of the time and the fake legend.
They're evil demons posing as saviors. That's all you need to know.
They're evil because they're just evil isn't good writing for a villain that is behind the entire story in one way or another. The reason they are the way they are is important, and only explained in 12.
>a villain that is behind the entire story in one way or another
Congrats for failing to understand a game made for children.
