bsnes
this guy's a liar, what you want is snes9x with filters
>americans are such mutants that they can crush consoles in one hand
la creatura...
Honestly this. Get a SNES mini classic and hack it for max comfyness.
On android with a telescopic gamepad.
using snes9x since i guess it's considered to be the best one. how do i fix the audio crackling? on super mario rpg in specific
just when I thought this thread couldn't get any worse
>desktop, very high accuracy
higan bsnes balanced (accurate literally only affects two games and incurs a huge performance loss in all games, so don't use unless you're playing those two games)
if you hate higan's ui, you can use the retroarch core or any of the alternate frontends for it
>desktop, performance
snes9x, also available as a retroarch core
>couch, deep pockets
get a real snes and do rgb or hdmi output. retrorgb.com
>couch, convenience
any hackable console can emulate snes easily. retroarch has been ported to most hacked consoles, including gamecube, wii, wii u, switch, ps2, and ps3 (it was actually developed for ps3 to begin with, hence the ui)
so whatever you already have hooked up, hack it and do retroarch's snes9x core and it should run fine. ps3, wii u, and switch might be able to handle some of the higan cores, but i'd stick with snes9x unless you find you need a more accurate one.
>handheld
psp, vita, and new 3ds can all emulate snes fine. retroarch's been ported, so use the snes9x core. vita is probably the best of the three.
o3ds can't handle snes emulation at very good speeds. however, o3ds and n3ds can both play gba games natively using the built-in gba firmware and vc injection using nsui. a couple of the better snes games got ported to gba and the gba versions of those run perfectly on the o3ds, so if you're stuck with an o3ds, you can still play any of the games listed here: nintendo.fandom.com
also, nsui gba injection has an option to apply a darkness filter. i recommend this, as most gba games are oversatured on the 3ds' backlit screen. the only exception would be if you're using a romhack that restores the original snes color palette (a few of these are out there)
>it's considered to be the best one
it's the one with the best performance to accuracy ratio. it works just fine for most games.
however, it's not the most accurate. higan is higher accuracy, even its "performance" variant, but all three also have higher performance requirements than snes9x, which can run on just about anything.
idk about super mario rpg on snes9x, but you can always try it in higan performance and see if that works. i recommend using retroarch as your frontend, but that's just personal preference.
Isn't this just a locked raspberry pie?
higan
kinda but it comes with 2 peripherals and a sick front end
The SNES classic emulator is actually made from scratch and basically flawless bar a few games that most emulators.
Also nice controllers that are easy to play multiplayer with
snes9x
Higan
SNES9X just works for me.
I don't know why Higan starts to slow down over time and last time I tried it, lacked a lot of features most emulators have.
I can emulate PS3 and older pretty much just fine but not Higan.
the controllers were the kicker for me
I didn't realize until I started doing research, a pair of high quality SNES replica controllers can go for $40-50 right there.
How do iBuffalo controllers stack up to those? I haven't tried the SNES classic versions yet.
i've tried it on higan, it runs worse and still has the crackling audio
which games does higan affect?
I'm emulating earthbound and travelling around so only have my laptop. Sometimes I dip below 60fps, should I just starting using snes9x?
it doesn't matter, you won'T see any difference between emulators. it's all plug and play.
Been considering getting one of these to hack. What are the essentials anyway, asides from what's already in it? What's the limit on storage before saves/save states stop working? I was planning on adding at least
>Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem
>The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
>Panel de Pon
>Super Soccer
the Jap games along with
>DKC2
>Chrono Trigger
>Kirby's Dreamland 3, though IIRC there's an emulation issue I might need to find a patch for
>Mario All-Stars
>Pilotwings
>TMNT: Turtles in Time
Kys subhuman
>filters
Absolutely disgusting. Use a proper CRT shader or don't do anything at all
I have over 100 games on mine. You be fine.
higan or snes9x
Based
Cringe
>Having small and delicate hands.
Let me guess. Asian?
Don't forget that you can get other emulators on there too. I'm juggling SNES, NES, Genesis, GBC/A, and even NGPC among others. Hakchi's some crazy shit.
this beast right here
Huh. I was under the impression this whole time there was a relatively small limit to what you could add before you'd get memory problems. So there aren't any issues with save data and such?
Doesn't seem to be. You have about 190MB of space, but Hakchi's accompanying tools and shit try to compress roms you put in. You can fit an obscene number of games if you don't pack in ones from systems with bigger game sizes overall.
Well damn, thanks for letting me know user. I guess I can fit in all the sequels and such I was hoping to add after all.
I doubt these people even own them. They usually just praise nintendo blindly. Everyone owns either a usb controller or current gen controller which is comparable with the pie. Whats the obsession with imitation controllers?>e SNES classic emulator is actually made from scratch and basically flawless bar a few games
You just described every single free emulator out there.
Ii should be an unwritten rule to not post if you have no clue what you are talking about or are just flat out retarded.
Keep in mind this list here for later reference if you do get hack a SNES Classic with Hakchi.
docs.google.com
These are all the games compatible with the default Canoe emulator the SNES Classic uses. You can put other emulators on there if you so opt to, but Canoe is usually your best option for overall performance. The list tries to note any errors, patches for compatibility or otherwise.
so fucking comfy
I used to be a die hard shill for this because I liked all the functions the emulator had.
SNES9X replaced it but it took my stubborn ass years to change. I don't know how out of date ZMZ is compared to SNES9X 1.58.
not true, it actually has a few accuracy problems where bsnes/higan don't
but yeah it's just fine if you can actually get ahold of one for a decent price, which means finding one retail. they are ridiculously expensive online/second hand, when the thing is only worth $50 at best and retails for $80.
otherwise just get a pi or use a shitty laptop I'm sure you already have lying around
Lol, I actually forgot about zsnes. Good times.
Higan or bsnes. emulation.gametechwiki.com has more
I'm still using it sometimes because 32bit Debian doesn't have SNES9X
this but for real because actually being able to play the game is more important than anything else INCLUDING "le accuracy"
Are there any SNES style controllers with analog sticks and dual triggers that aren't a Wii U classic controller?
I was still using this last year, I didn't know it was "dead".
The only thing it plays better than anything else are rom hacks that are based on its inaccurate sound.
It's the ePSXe of SNES emulators. It was outclassed ages ago both in terms of accuracy and performance, but people still use it because it was in common use a decade ago when emulation for the system was less developed and people haven't bothered to see what's changed in all that time.
then use the bsnes core in retroarch if you want filters so badly
What's the optimal way to emulate PS1? The Beetle core in Retroarch? Apparently it needs bios files but I never properly figured all of that out.
You can just use the dpad and not use the triggers wiseguy. Or if you had the attention span to continue rrading: ebay.com
Either that or PCSX-R-PGXP. Or, if you have a hacked PSP or Vita, Sony's own PS1 emulator.
I'm a man with a simple appreciation for a SNES style controller, not the N64 claw. I'm simply looking for a multi-purpose equivalent, don't get huffy with me.
nintendo wii + a crt tv with component input
A.S.P. – Air Strike Patrol (USA)
Uniracers (USA)
It's pretty easy. Just put the three bios files in the "system" folder in retroarch. Google should prove very helpful. Use directx if you're using windows for better performance if it's running a bit slow.
my general recommendation is use snes9x by default until you run into a problem game, there are relatively few
>3.99
>breaks down in two weeks: the price
Nice try Wang.
>You just described every single free emulator out there
ZSNES is not even close to flawless. There's more than just a few games that are basically unplayable on that piece of shit.
Emulation General Wiki has a cores pack for all the systems. Very helpful. I was wondering why certain games were crashing the emulator. Wish it just had an error screen of some kind.
For the many years I've used it, I never found one.
I've been happy with a DS4 or an Xbone for multi purpose gaming. Both can be used wireless.
Some people didn't like it here, but the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro works on nearly everything out there.
If you want pure wired, the iBuffalo feels really good for anything 2D but it's D-Input only.
Dude wut? I played Megaman X and it just froze when X dashed into one of those igloo things in Chill Penguin's stage. It didn't take long for me to start discovering them.
I can put up with a lot of bullshit, but not what I experienced while using ZSNES.
bsnes with this UI would be the best emulator ever.
I think there was a way to do just that, not sure if it's still working though
This just remember to get two third party extension cords for the controllers. The wires aren't very long.
That game had some kind of antipiracy in the earlier versions, if you used a newer rom it probably wouldn't have happened. I remember someone saying the power ups would disappear before even touching the ground. Back then it was zsnes or snes9x, rarely any issues with any games.
How far back are we talking? I used it fairly recently, at least 2 or 3 years ago.
If you haven’t used a real SNES pad in a while, you won’t be able to tell the I buffalo apart.
Lol, ~15 years maybe. Time flies. Whenever there was an issue, we would just swap emulators. That simple. I actually can't remember which games thought because there weren't many we found. Of course I didn't play every single game.
I'm playing with it right now. Playing Mechwarrior 1 on SNES. I remember how rare this game was, even in the 90s.
>32bit Debian
how fucking old is your toaster if you're still using a 32-bit OS
is there any point in using 64-bit if you're on a core2duo thinkpad?
It's 10 years old, one of the last 32 bit CPUs.
