The Hunter: Call of the Wild

This game is fucking amazing, and I know it's super niche because it's a hunting simulator.
It runs super smooth and depicts THE BEST fucking environments I have ever seen. This is easily the greatest walking simulator and the world is just so beautifully hand crafted I don't care, it's like I'm hiking while sitting down on my chair.

The game is basically 95% walking/tracking/steath and 5% sniping, which is why it's niche, it's hunting after all. But goddamn it does it all beautifully and well that I'm in love with the game. A lot of Yea Forums won't like it but if you're interested in this game pirate it and then buy it because that's exactly what I did. It's a game so good I fucking bought it after pirating it. It even has 8 player multiplayer and like a dozen huge hunting reserves. I've been spending my time hunting in the North American map and enjoying the scenery. This game has actual forests, full thick trees, rugged terrain, tall grass, it's fucking great and blows any video game forest out of the competition. If you've ever wanted to see a forest in a video game this is THE game.

Here's some Webms to show what I love.

it's also super difficult so Yea Forums should get a boner for how satisfying it is to hunt if they're so hardcore

But are there mods?

I never understood why people play a video game of an activity that you can just go outside and do for a full, real, rewarding experience

It looks nice though.

The same reason pro sportsball and military shooters get popular with vidya; not everybody has the time, money or skills to perform those activities IRL, or would just prefer a less-demanding simulation.

doesnt look hard in those webms, especially the third one

there is no chance on gods green earth of a human sneaking up on a fox in bush like that, unless it's literally deaf

he's looking to start a troll argument about the ethics of hunting, don't engage

Those are particularly small game, I think the Fox AI bugged out or got tired.

Bigger game like Moose, Elk and Bears require bigger guns and more precise shots in vital locations. That Deer kill was pretty lucky because the third shot hit the neck, if I missed it would have ran far and I'd have lost it. Also this is my longest distance kill, render distance is 450m

This is an example of a bad kill, that tracking distance is huge and wasted a lot of time but it bled out over that time. I missed the vitals.

In fairness, the one thing I have a major complaint about with this game is the sound system. I really hope they overhaul it eventually because it's wacky as shit and doesn't at all match the actual sounds themselves.

The game has a lot of variety in environments as well.

That bear looks like a muppet in an xray.

You done shit fozzy!

There's a lot about this game I like and a lot about it I don't. It really didn't need a progression system, let alone one that locked crucial options like zeroing, calls/scents, and weapons that aren't shit behind it, it doesn't actually run that smoothly, and it's buggy as fuck. It's also still the best hunting game I've played.

Is this the sequel to Prey?

You need a hunting license, real weapons, and to live in an area where you can hunt to begin with.

It's buggy but I just purchased it and I didn't find very many game breaking bugs as I'd be scared to based on older reviews. I've read zeroing isn't /that/ important and what I'm boned is that you're right callers/scents and weapons are progression locked - but the .223 and .22 is more than decent to hunt certain game.

>and I didn't find very many game breaking bugs
Wait until every elk and moose you shoot starts bleeding grass instead of blood so it's a nightmare to track them.
>I've read zeroing isn't /that/ important
The fuck it isn't, sniping is borderline impossible without it and bow hunting becomes dozens of times easier when zeroed at 50 feet.

Imagine being the kind of person that actually likes walking simulators, what a failure as a human.

From what I've read Rifles are basically on the dot at 150 or 200 meters and then you need to account for aim drop. I've never used bows!

It's very relaxing. I don't even hunt the animals half the time, I just walk around and enjoy the nature
>Inb4 i live in a major city and the closest thing to nature is a park that dogs shit all over/homeless nigs shoot up heroin in

That would be a lot more reasonable to do if the sights had mildot reticles.

I don't like the DLC practices

I used to play the original one a lot like eight years ago or something, is that one any better than it?

Simulation games have always had a different standard for DLC.

it's a game that women will never understand

I played theHunter back when it was still fairly new but the toaster I had at the time could barely handle it and it was a near-slideshow
I still tried to power through because I thought the game was really cool and finally found a deer after what felt like an eternity, fired, missed, and then watched it stop-motion-run off to never be seen again
Anyway that's my experience with the franchise, this seems cool, I may give it a try

>best environments
Not even close to Kingdom Come: Deliverance
