DOA used to be one of the big 3 to successfully adopt the Virtua Fighter style. Nowadays, players confuse it for a swimsuit game and are even surprised to learn there are male fighters.

So they tried to market it as a serious fighting game during E3 by removing a lot the fanservice. Well, that just pissed off the fanbase.

So they tried to win back these fans. If you watched the JP Evo 2019 stream that was removed due the "Core Values", it was the director with 2 gravure idols shilling DOA6 and how sexy it was. There was a lot of boob bouncing (both ingame and irl) and a lot of playing around with com vs com and stopping the camera to look at upskirts and shit.

Thing is that DOA isn't just an upskirt simulator either. It's both: a good fighting game at its core that isn't shy about its fanservice.

This is honestly my dilemma.
I've grown bored of doa5 since I've been playing it since it's vanilla release, but as a person who plays primarily for ryona and already saw 5 as a step back in some ways, 6 feels like even more of a step back.
The raw gameplay sounds like its been improved but who cares? I dont play doa to be good at it, i play to fight against the cpu and jerk off.
Graphics feel like hit and miss, not the huge improvement i was expecting.
Lips look nicer and having clothing destruction on outfits other than a select few is nice, but then theres shit like reused hair textures that are actually lower res than the source and navels being super washed put looking.
Im just going to wait and see come release day if this deserves a purchase or a pirate from me.

It upsets me how so many people overlook DoA5's genuinely fantastic gameplay because of the costumes
If you look beyond the outward image and costumes, it's an amazing fighting game with great defensive options, unique characters, and flashy gameplay that doesn't come at the cost of skill

Most other fighting games are almost fought in turns where if you get it you have to wait until their "turn" is over and hope you don't get poked again and eat another full combo
Dead or Alive combats this with their Hold system where during hitstun you can counter attack your opponents hit if you correctly guess where it will land (in one of 4 possible places) and you can do this as long as your feet are on the ground
Sounds cool but exploitable, right? Well they thought of that and added "Counter Throws" where if you throw someone while they are doing a Hold it does greatly increased damage. Combine that with the chain throws that exist in the game and you could do some serious damage to someone who relies too much on it.

FGCucks hate games where both players get to play outside of neutral. It's not because the game is 3D, it's not because the game has titties, it's because the ideal game to the FGC is autistic combo bullshit. This is why they'll defend MvC's infinites all day. Killer Instinct 2013 was 2D and didn't have titties, but because it had a freeform combo system like DOA with combo breakers, the FGCucks immediately started screeching and throwing their own shit and wouldn't give it the time of day.
