I don't see anything wrong with that. If the game was good, it wouldn't need sexy waifu filth constantly shoved in your face. Infact, Metroid was at its best when Samus was basically a robot that never talked or showed any emotions. The moment she did any of that, and the moment she got out of her suit at the end of the games, that's when things hit the fan.
This isn't a question to just Shantaefags but all you idiots that want an indie character in general (besides Minecraft cause it's bigger than every franchise on the roster besides Mario/Pokemon). Why the fuck would Nintendo ever put in an indie character over a big AAA franchise? Why put Shantae when you can add Dragon Quest, Resident Evil, Tekken, etc all series that have sold over 50m copies? A character in Smash is obviously a very prestigious spot and you think Nintendo will waste it on a character who's CGI trailer will cost more than the budget of their games? Adding this character will just make a small niche group of people happy who probably bought the game anyway. Plus Nintendo benefits from working with Capcom/Atlus/Keoi Tecmo/Square Enix than do with working with Wayforward/Toby Fox/YCGs etc. Shovel Knight was probably thrown in as an AT since Sakurai was never gonna add in indie character but he probably got a shit ton of votes on the ballot, same with Shantae as a spirit but I don't see them ever getting in as characters unless there is a Bayonetta situation where Nintendo just straight up funds their game.
