Let's be real. PC is raping everything but the shitch so hard they're preparing to bail. Just look at twitch or YouTube, literally every relevant game is a pc exclusive/port/rip off. Sony is doing the same thing with psnow, the PS4 pro and mouse/keyboard support.

Next gen they're going to release some 50 bucks box with controller with a 15 bucks monthly subscription in addition to the normal consoles. Gen after that will just be the streaming box. Nintendo will last much longer cause portable and far more "hardcore" fans, pc will probably last forever cause so many neckbeards and in loads of countries traditional pc gaming is literally the only thing people can afford.

Xbox has games, they're just also on PC, and thus not exclusives. This makes it so they're on every console except PS4

I know that, but I'm not installing Windows 10 and can't buy any of them on my Switch. Those are all games I wouldn't mind having on a handheld and being able to play at work during downtime

Except exlusives like GoW, Uncharted 4 and Spider Man sold very well. Not to the numbers as those games but still significant. GoW is particular made the ps4 the best selling console of that month so to say people don't give a fuck about exclusives is wrong.

They didn't buy them BECAUSE they were exclusive, RDR2 was a big seller too
They bought them because Sony spends more money on aggressive marketing campaigns than they do on development.

When Valve announced that they wanted to make consoles while still having Steam on PC, people thought it was a great idea.

Microsoft is doing the same thing, but difference is they have a better OS, better resources and the infrastructure to actually pull it off. Microsoft is at its heart a software company, but they can still push Xbox hardware as either the cheapest way to enjoy their software and services OR push stuff like the One X and Anaconda as the most powerful consoles on the market. Nintendo knows they can't compete with Microsoft in delivering a service like Xbox Live or in making extremely powerful hardware, being a Japanese toy company, but they benefit by attaching themselves to MS because MS is willing to take over the jobs that they can't do themselves without necessarily eating into their core market.

Keep in mind that A LOT of gamers buy Nintendo hardware in some form and usually pick between Xbox or Playstation. In this way, Xbox positions itself as the Switch's best compliment.
