Is Mortal Kombat the fighting game made for people who don't like fighting games? What does MK offer that Killer Instinct does not? What about its combat is interesting that is not covered by SFIV or Guilty Gear Xrd? Tekken 7 even is a much better game.

It’s relatively easy to get into, has fun characters and fatalities let you disrespect your friends or randoms online better than anything else.

MK benefits from being a 90s pop culture phenomenon,having fairly easy gameplay,and a far more robust story mode/lore than most fighters

It's a completely different style of playing. MK is big on momentum other fighters aren't. Fireball battles revolve around a weird balance of shoot, block, dodge, move forward since fireballs don't negate each other and there are far more high fireballs and IAF than other games. There are also no crossups which makes pressure huge on frame traps, block damage, and high/low pressure and the way target combos work reflect that.

Even in 1-3 those characters I mentioned were shit. Kano is the character I will never understand why they keep forcing, Baraka was so annoying on 2 I got permanently angry at him, and Reptile was the worst of all ninjas. The only time Reptile was close to being cool was in the movie.

Also, Cyrax is a chad, a cutie, and permanently high tier. He and Noob are the only characters I loved to play in UMK3, and still loved to play with on 9.
Skarlet I started to play with just to piss off my mangina friend, and with time I actually got good with her. My relation with her is the same of Shermie in KOF, first I got in as a joke, and then I got so used It became one of my favorite characters.

Yeah the only reason I even watch the story is for specific scenes. The overarching plot in fighting games will always be ass. You're not going to get some well-crafted masterpiece where everything comes together.
