Calamity. It's easily one of the best mods tied with Thorium. Don't follow 's advice. You never want to mix content mods. If you want to run different content mods then do it in different playthroughs. When you combine them all you're doing is intentionally missing out on using more weapons and armor, as you're going to prefer one or two things per tier.

Most of the hate for Calamity comes from the older versions where balance was a lot worse. Most of the people who complain about balance now don't understand that there are multiple tiers past Moon Lord in Calamity. So yes, using weapons from 3-4 tiers beyond Moon Lord does make him easier, but the same can be said about taking Golem tier items to the Wall of Flesh. If you do play Calamity, jump right into Revengeance. It changes vanilla AI and adds a lot.

It's not that it will clash with other mods, it's that most throwing sets give larger advantages than the others because the base items are just shit. So his items won't clash, they just won't benefit from other throwing stuff, while also not providing a bonus to other mods throwing shit. That and internally throwing has a lot of issues. He got sick of dealing with it and have instead added a new damage type.

It's almost as if he'd have to recode the entire event from the ground up since it's not easy to modify vanilla events with tModLoader.

Calamity used to be good and showed promise for where it might go in future, but updates since then have only added more inconsequential non-content and doubled down on the worst parts of it.
Planetoids, abyss, great sand shark, who wanted this shit? Who needed it? Who even enjoys it?
All the post-moonman bosses suck except for two because they have no interesting mechanics and the numbers are too high to even find any appeal in anymore. The grind gets absolutely outrageous with all the things you need for a decent set of armour after DoG.
The best parts of calamity are revengeance mode and the bosses added to pre-hardmode and early/late hardmode, and the cool new weapons/armour you get for beating them. That's a better ground-based boss than any I've seen before, it's very hard to get them right in this game.

I haven't played this game in years. Last time I did was back when the jungle biome was new. Is it worth considering getting back into?

Honestly it just looks so daunting and bloated with content that you have to grind and grind and grind forever. I've been digging It Lurks Below lately because it feels a lot more directed and driven. But I'm fully aware Terraria is a much more complete game, I just don't know if its gone too far for my own personal tastes. I don't have a lot of vidya time these days.

it is worth it. Grinding is rewarding and mostly fun. There are also way more bosses, mobs, items, etc now. As someone who has been playing this game since 1.0 it changed for better
