If only reddit/esl/ didnt write this

Only dummies would let go. Figuring out a way to take all that gold with you is more satisfying.

>tfw take all gold bars and critical sneak head shot on Elijah as soon as he steps through the holo-door of the elevator walkway
>Elijah's body on my side, brain chunks on the elevator side
>Dump gold bars on the body and escape the vault as normal
>Collect gold bars from brain matter on the other side of the hologram door and step on the elevator

Lol fuck letting go. The real lesson is to bend everything just right and get what you want all the time.

Really?

This

yeah, and the game engine is so fucked you can literally walk out with them lol

>tfw I was a retard and just kept dropping it, moving a bit further, picking it up again

>ITT Bethesda thinks they're deep but they're incompetence renders the moral of the story moot because any retard can absolutely dab on their engine, allowing them to have cake and eat it too

>not just letting go
I thought people liked NV for being a role playing game, rather than for being a skinner box.

Fuck I’m gonna try this next time

You don't even have to kill him.

>Bethesda

>learn to let go
...or just use your brain to figure out a way to carry out all that bling and kill the old nigger that put an explosive leash on you. Fuck moralfags.

Pic related but I still appreciated what they tried to do implementing the moral at the practical, gameplay level.

they patched this out

This.
I have never left even a single gold bar behind.

I mean, sure I glitch them out, but all I do with them is mail them to the Lucky 38 and put them all in my bathtub in the suite.

based retard

But I did it just last month

Jokes on them, I spend every game hoarding cigarette packs so I have an infinite supply of weapon repair kits and never need money again

Even without shenanigans like this, a high-luck character can bank about 14k Sierra Madre chips at the casino on the ground floor, then trade them all in to the holographic teller 1:1 for pre-war cash which is weightless and worth up to 10 caps each, meaning you can walk out with up to 140k without putting a dent in your weight capacity.

okay but imagine that but ALSO with all the gold

I mean realistically gold doesn't have that much value in the post apocalyptic world anyways

And people are roleplaying someone who gets all the gold.

Attached: Wasda ploblem.jpg (1200x630, 108K)

Wait, there are motherfuckers who didn't take the gold?

Roleplaying as this guy

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 76K)

Gold is used in so many electronics that it's mind-boggling. It's actually worth MORE in a post-apoc world because good luck fucking mining it.

On the contrary, gold in a post-apocalypse with laser guns has extreme value

And who is manufacturing electronics in Fallout?

Damn, now I can just fill my bathtub of Sierra Madre gold with Sierra Madre cash, thanks user!

The brotherhood of steel and NCR

They are still around so someone is maintaining them.

All major factions, except the Legion & Khans, I imagine.

>was already loaded before starting Dead Money
>had bought all I wanted from the Gun Runners and other expensive shops
>struggle to find way to use that money
>"dude you have to let go, you can't just take all the money"
Yes, and bears shit in the woods. Big reveal. I ended up taking an ingot, but it was a glorified paperweight souvenir at this point.

Todd acknowledging that FNV exists. Didn’t think I’d see the day.

Yeah many players like to roleplay people with morals and then there are players who roleplay people that are not stupid.

i tried and it didnt work, multiple times. it was as if there was a invisible colldier checking where i was and elijah would automatically attack me everytime even when i was with the stealth boy. that in itself wasn't the big issue, it was the fact that the laser door barred the way.

>implying i didnt use console commands to get get over the barrier and walk out with the gold

>kill an enemy
>drag body part over
>put all the gold bars in dead enemy body part inventory
>walk out with the body part
ez money

>needing gold when you own the mojave.

I didnt take a single bar.

>Try to replay New Vegas
>Every time get bored of the same linear progression and sidequests I've completed half a dozen times already and get pissed off at the constant crashes and give up by the time I get to Benny
>Never played the DLC to this day

How do I spice it up next time I try? Because let's face it, there's going to be a next time.

Attached: 1391972986964.jpg (624x184, 31K)

Just fucking keep going instead of restarting and do the dlc you faggot

Why? What's the point? If you're going to go through all that effort in a situation where you're supposed to let go, why not just use cheats or trainers and call it a day?

Actually try to roleplay
I’ve done five campaigns, and I make them feel different by roleplaying entirely different characters
>First character was just me reacting to different choices spur of the moment, no real roleplaying. Originally was gonna side with House but betrayed him when he wanted me to kill the Brotherhood.
>Second character was my self-insert with an actual backstory and motivations. Sided with House.
>Third character was an ex-city leader that was wiped out by the NCR. Sided with Legion.
>Forth character was a throwback to my first playthrough, this time as a once leader of a mercenary guild that was caught between Legion and NCR forces and wiped out by both in the crossfire. Hated both, nuked both, sided with House (again)
>Fifth character, ex-Enclave soldier with PTSD. Extremely hesitant towards violence and exploitation. Older guy. Sided with NCR because he sees them as the best chance to bring back Pre-War America.
And that’s how I made NV worth coming back to multiple times. Real roleplaying and back stories for my characters

>Never played the DLC to this day
main game is shit compare to DLC

Yeah, maybe if you took your ADHD meds and kept playing you'd have actually completed it by now.

see >cheating
this option is only for underage faggots

Because it literally takes less time than to go

>TGM

or have an actual fight with Elijah and leave the gold. It's completely viable vanilla. Completely. If you do Dead Money relatively early, especially on hardcore, the caps are crucial for equipment and upgrades to yourself and weapons in stores, the clinic, and Big Mt.

Except you realise it's a Bethesda engine and there are multiple ways to cheat reality to get the bars out of there

>Real roleplaying and back stories for my characters
top autism retard

Obshitters BTFO

>Abusing bugs is not cheating
I suppose you're right about being only for underage faggots.

The real metakino was learning that everyone telling you to let go is wrong, instead, while you should be willing to grow and keep moving forward from your past, never forget it's what made you and how you got where you are today. Sneaking out with the gold bars is representative of this.

its not bug you fucking idiot

>roleplaying in a roleplaying game
Wow... why would anyone do that...

i feel like dead money and lonesome road give contradictary messages
dead money says to let go
while lonesome road says don't forget
so which is it
old world blues says 'fuck you i got science'

Don’t forget the memory but learn to let go
Ulysses couldn’t let what happened go and it drove him right into an early grave

You have to combine the two messages to get the full meaning: move on from your past, but don't forget it's what made you who you are and never forget where you come from.

but I walked whole way out and to a nearest city to sell them all. took a while but I got the caps.

It's not a bug. They never hardcoded in limits to moving bodies with major weights

you sound just like me
intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor

this

I think there's a difference between roleplaying within a game's constraints and playing pretend by making up entire backstories wholly outside of the game itself.

Man fuck that whole thing. I just wanted to see this place and next thing I know there's a bomb clamped around my neck and I gotta do this stupid bullshit for some crazy old man. I just wanted to get the fuck out of this place because I knew who the guy was from my travels. Fucking laughed when all it was was a small room with some bars of gold made by some rich chump. Reprogrammed the guns to kill him and took his stuff before the place blew. Stupid old man obsessed with junk. Cool guass rifle though and that LAER he modded in the Big Empty is also neat.

I guess you never played pen and paper RPG's

>he doesn’t create backstories to explain why your character makes certain decisions, especially early on
What, you think your Courier didn’t have life-experiences pre-getting shot in the head?
Regardless if you don’t want to do that that’s fine, I was just explaining how I make NV replayable.

niggas wut? Gold is used in pre technological societies for currency for many reasons, and a post-apocalyptic society is a pre-technological one by any other means. It's qualities include:
>Highly identifiable and difficult to falsify
>Fungible, you can melt it down to smaller denominations
>Easily mintable so the NCR could make an official currency
>Difficult to excavate so no hyper-inflation
>Valuable in manufacturing
>Valuable as a status symbol thanks to its aesthetics, so a person can buy gold off you to display wealth as a means of soft negotiation
>Culturally important for religious and spiritiual and symbolic needs (Imagine Son of Mars cults in Legion territory casting gold plated statues to commeorate new territory, perfect propaganda campaign)

>that ending where everyone lives and they all say 'it's letting go'
Pure kino.
Also Dean deserves to die fuck that guy.

If you took the gold to sell on for caps and equipment, you're a monster. All you've done is set those bars loose on a wasteland full of desperate, greedy people. Word will go out that some Courier found the jackpot to end all jackpots and that there's honest to god gold bullion to be found in and around the Mojave as they spent their newfound wealth.

Forget the gambling and Vegas, people will be coming from all over to try and steal themselves one of the 37 Mojave Bricks, go home rich with a bar of pure gold in their bag. Merchants who bought from you will be hounded and hunted for months after you've done business with them. Dozens will die pointless, petty deaths.

Attached: Getting to it, that's not the hard part. It's letting go..jpg (2272x1704, 913K)

Good thing I sold it all to the Sink.

Good, as long as I profit from it.

which of fallout games is this from.

desu, when I played Lonesome Road, I don't know if it was Ulysees ramblings or my fucking brainlet ears but I just didn't get the guys point? I delivered a parcel off screen that was the origin of the Divide's demise? So I'm responsible? So the moral is what, be more thoughtful about what you are doing and dont just think of your paycheck.

To my mind, in a roleplaying game, to be confronted with teh concequences of your actions is the core of a great game (most Yea Forumstards say as much) but then FNV is praised anf it punishes me for something done in my characters past?

Isn't this kinda a shitty approach, surely Ulysees should have chastized me for what joining the Legion did to California or what joining the NCR did to Legion lands?

Am I missing something here?

>Give it all to the Gun Runners to get their special guns or farm caps from the sink at Big MT

And like that you're rich and the gold is in safe hands. Wahlah, RETARD

Attached: really faggot.jpg (793x788, 48K)

Ulysses is a crazy hobo and even if he's right about you being the one that inadvertently destroyed Hopeville, he's only mad at you because you're literally the only person in the world he can be angry AT. Everyone else in town who dealt with the package is dead. Whoever sent it from NCR is a faceless bureaucrat. But he knows your face and that you're still alive and you're the only other person, or so he believes, that knows and cares about what the Divide used to be before it exploded.

That's a whole lot of not my fucking problem right there.
Anyway the merchant can always hire me for a fraction of the price of the gold bar's worth to eradicate every armed human being within fifteen miles that might pose a threat to him at some point in the future.

>giving it to the place where more precious resources to experiment with would be like setting of a nuke in a volatile gas giant

Is that the Dev's intentional takeaway from the character though? It felt like I was supposed to learn something and that Ulysees was there to school me, or did Obsidian want me to learn that mad people will take revenge on anything they can get their hands on?

Attached: 1549307167018.jpg (1000x1181, 275K)

>Ulysses sees the package, knows you are the backup courier
>Says nah and so you deliver it instead
>You don't know the contents, you're just doing your job
>Package kills entire settlement
>"This is all your fault, the blood of a promising settlement is on your murderous hands, to punish you I will nuke even more people"

>Am I missing something here?
No
Ulysses is retarded, for all his wisdom gathered through his travels when working for Caeser he should know better that the Courier is just a cog in the machine doing his job.
You could try to explain it but I think they dun goofed the writing to explain it

>bar claims to be 10oz of gold
>weighs 35lb

Attached: Gold_bar.png (783x678, 343K)

Fun Fact: New Vegas was so boring that I dropped it halfway through and never played the DLC

I recently replayed NV and I'm actually not sure if I like the writing all too much. I mean on the whole the quality is definitely there, but so many characters are just walking exposition dumps that it becomes a bit tiring. Every literal who character knows about the history of this and that and will explain them to you in great detail. The pacing is very off, for example if you exhaust all the dialogue in the beginning of OWB it takes like, what, 40 minutes? Space it out a little so it's more comfortable to digest. There's not enough of "show, don't tell". I'm very conflicted on it overall.

Attached: statu.jpg (1263x872, 276K)

I'm not sure how but you've confused Ulysses letting you carry the Platinum Chip for you accidentally delivering Enclave tech to the Divide. Johnson Nash tells you the story about the other courier bailing on him when he sees you name when you show him the work order for your stolen package.

>Shooting Elijah
>Not luring him into the vault and locking him inside with all the gold he desperately wanted

Attached: vaporwave-seinfeld-windows95.jpg (700x700, 247K)

why the fuck did pre war cash have any value at all in these games
it would literally be worthless at this point
are people just hoarding stacks of paper money in hopes that it will someday return to be the accepted currency?

idiot transistors weren't invtented in this universe so everything is bigger, like computers.

Jeez louis

It's the Wasteland, user. As long as you can do something useful with it, it has value.

And I don't see any other toilet paper lying around in game, so

The paper its made out of is good material. Also i wouldnt be surprised if NCR was repurposing them to make their NCR bucks

Someone needs to learn how to read.

Attached: 1548862628749.png (179x281, 7K)

I imagine it has value for the same reason old-ass currency in mint condition has value: some sperg it willing to shell out for a massive collection

You roleplay as someone who crams 12 gold bars into 2cms of brainmatter and carries it around with invisible hands?

Damn. When's the olimpics for logic acrobatics?

He wanted the gas, not the gold. However, trapping him inside the vault in what's basically and more luxurious version of being buried alive is definetly the best outcome.

Attached: 0k9uhrz8os101.jpg (750x679, 39K)

I just grabbed all the gold then snuck past Elijah and trapped him in the vault.

Attached: 1450579967875.jpg (480x480, 22K)

>not taking the gold, leaving behind a stack of pre-war money on the table neatly arranged to spell out "LET GO", and THEN locking him in the vault

what

>Wahlah
2/10

>wahla
>not voila

I thought about it a lot and I think the reason Ulysses blames you is because he saw you delivering the package, but for a while I found it weird.
I mean they way we interpret a package is something that boxed up or whatever. After thinking about it, I think the package was E-DE. E-DE was on its way to the Navaro military base with all sorts of military secrets and Ulysses seems to have a disgust for eyebots even though medical eyebots fixed his body after being caught in the blast.

ED-E was shot down in the Mojave

Ass paper

>not leaving a single bar to taunt Elijah

Attached: 1456939651285.jpg (287x287, 10K)

We don't know when that happened, he could have still been delivered to the Divide. Not many factions use eyebots either so any high-ranking NCR officer would get all giddy at whatever Enclave secrets might be within.

most recent casualties of ameribear roleplaying

Attached: Light of Civilisation.jpg (853x543, 100K)

Hopeville wasn't 'discovered' by NCR until relatively recently, it's far more likely they were sending over seemingly inert junk they captured at Navarro because it's also the only place that still had Pre-War American military bunkers intact

That's also possible but you gotta keep in mind, Ulysses comes from a tribe where there's a deeper meaning in every action and choice, even down to the braids in their hair. I don't see why the idea of E-DE being the package is so far-fetched, after all you do it in Lonesome Road all over again and Ulysses even mocks you for just delivering the nuke codes to him.

>not Grabbing the gold bars and teleporting to Big MT

Attached: 1447377876674.jpg (894x894, 116K)

>either drop all the unique armor and weapons that will be lost forever or get more money
Bitch, I already got my medicine stick and bozar after getting kicked out of every casino. Fuck your gold.

As said, Ulysses saw your name next in line for delivering the Platinum Chip, not the explosive. He probably hated you then, knew what the chip actually was (or at least that a solid platinum chip would attract raiders) and decided to let you take the package instead. He was probably hoping you'd die cluelessly delivering the package just like the Divide died from you cluelessly delivering a package

>Being this new

I'll never be able to fun F:NV with solid 60 FPS. even with 5 mods it falls under 40 FPS while others can reach 60 concurrent with 100+ mods. Even with all the fixes and avoiding the stutter remover, the combat still lags it to near unplayable state.

Shame really, I enjoyed playing this with loads of mods back when I had a vista
