Its functional but displays total cluelessness to design and lack of awareness of the tools avaliable to him. It's a board for videogame discussion, this game used to be popular on the internet (not on Yea Forums) a few years ago, but now it mostly died out due to the dev being a complete cunt

The function is called "update" which I bet will run every frame. No wonder the games performance is horrible.

From what I can tell, there is a huge skill distribution when it comes to coding. Now add to that people who just pick it up from online tutorials a bit without delving into deeper aspects of it and you got the perfect formula for bad code.
Fucking hell, the actual programmer for Vlambeer games (since they are 2 dudes, one guy actually working on the game and the other doing marketing and promotion while spouting shit on twitter) didn't know that you can return values from functions after shipping a game. But I suppose there is no incentive to actually improve in programming if you're an indie dev, if you work for a AAA companies putting games with cutting edge graphics together, then decent code is crucial to not suck up performance, but when you're some indie guy with no higher ups, all the freedom you want and probably some 2D game, then there is no real incentive to write code that performs well since you get a decent frame rate nonetheless and it works.

I don't even want to know.

Now you know why this game is never coming out, such is the intellect behind its development.

Eva did get a programmer appointed by Tinybuild to help him with the technical details, but the guy had the audacity of spending his time refactoring the terrible spaghetti mess, which annoyed Eva to no end since he had trouble reading the refactored code and it wasn't a constant stream of shiny new features to keep the goblin satisfied. Eva decided to call off the deal and undo his work instead, iirc he lasted less than a month.
