No games

oh you, it wouldnt be this thread without you!

VR fucking sucks. Why would I want to spend $1000 on a headset + PC to get motion sick while playing shitty on-rails shooters?

VR headsets arent that pricey. Poorfag

I can't wait for Audica

>It's not SAO/Matrix/Fulldive level
>Motion controllers are a gimmick
>We tried it 40 years ago, it didn't work then it won't work now
>it's already a dead meme
Anything I'm forgetting?

i have a VR headset and it's a lot of fun but not as fun as shitposting on Yea Forums

Reminder that
>poorfag
is a bad excuse against people that don't own VR.
They are posting on Yea Forums with an internet connection, its quite likely they have the cash, there is just better things to spend their money on.
Like a new GPU, monitor, onahole, figure

this is the worst meme I've seen all month, what reddit shithole did you scrape this out of

>VR meme
Beat Saber got boring after a month and I haven't touched it since

>blow several hundred dollars to play a wii game and then wander off
>hurr its a meme

I didn't pay a cent

lol

Whoever gave it to you is an idiot then but thank him for his donation to our hobby

Goddamn it, why these late night early morning VR threads so comfy?

you should not have to "donate" to a hobby. The single hope for the VR industry is the Oculus Quest.

>The single hope for the VR industry is the Oculus Quest.
hahahahahahhahahahahahah
literally marketing VR to people like

It's my housemates. He uses it more than I do but has also stopped recently. I've played every game he has and they're just uninteresting shooters and Beat Saber

So I just bought a Vive Pro wireless adapter. I'll give my feedback in case anyone wanted to know what it's like
The good:
>freedom of movement lets me rapidly turn and bend without worrying about cables. it completely solves going down staircases
>easy to set up with step by step picture instructions on the website
>solves long-standing issues with the first-wave Vive Pros' audio. completely removes the crackling/distortion problems without the need for fucking around with drivers
The bad:
>$350. It's not $300. You NEED the "pro accessory kit" if you have a Vive Pro. The picture steps assumes you've bought the kit, and doesn't include instructions to mount without one.
>long charging time on the power bank. I managed to knock it down a full 2 hours by charging it directly through a wall outlet with usb-c to usb-c, but it still takes 2 hours to charge to full.
>full charge only lasts 4 hours. You can extend the playtime with another powerbank linked up the the wireless powerbank but then you'd be lugging around two bricks on your pants
>noticable visual quality drop. With wired running on a 2080 ti, I can reach 1.5-2x supersampling depending on the game. Wireless, the headset doesn't attempt supersampling at all, presumably because the adapter simply can't reach the same bandwidth as wired. If you want the absolute highest fidelity from your headset, don't go wireless.

All in all, I'm pretty content with it, especially since it solved my audio issues. I have not noticed any glaring issues with going wireless that hasn't already existed on wired.

I suppose it's easier to get immersed in the game and forget about degraded visuals when you're not worried about tripping on your cable every few seconds. Those are some steep tradeoffs though.
Still, fuck cables.

>underpowered mobile vr
wow, your future of untextured unity minigames is going to be amazing

Pretty much. It boils down to "slightly better graphics" or "fuck cables". I prefer the latter. Going down long winding staircases feels amazing. Especially in games plagued with them like Onward.

VR was made for flight sims but most gamers are casuals.

Hence "Superhot, VRChat and Beat Saber are the only games worth playing" meme

I got a vive for 200, anyone know any drivers I could use to get the most out of games that don't have VR integration?

Kindly off yourself.

Counterarguments, but you have none.

Uh like VorpX? Depth3D?
Good luck

This is great if you use 3d programs like DAZ or Vam. You can see your work in actual 3d, real time. For programs like VaM (Virt-a-Mate) you can actually move stuff and interact real time as well. Video games are a secondary use for something that has current potential as a work device. Well worth the money along with a powerful PC and the extra peripherals.

>It's not SAO/Matrix/Fulldive level
Yeah, but your PS4 also doesn't make you coffee and blow you, so maybe it's time to talk about what the tech does instead of anime fantasy?
>Motion controllers are a gimmick
Please tell how else will you play roomscale games. I'm the first person to admit E:D with HOTAS and Assetto Corsa with a wheel are some of the best games in VR, but playing FPS like Pavlov without motion controllers is impossible. Most people are used to Wii, and don't know you can literally use Vive controllers for precise actions such as 3D modelling.
>We tried it 40 years ago, it didn't work then it won't work now
Yeah, because the tech totally allowed for VR as we know it now. I'd still only now it's borderline possible to make decent VR, and even then FOV, resolution and wireless solutions all feel like Gen 1.
>it's already a dead meme
Very subjective. In terms of new content, VR is getting much more support than other established peripherals like HOTAS and Wheel Setups.

While I admit just getting used to Blender was enough to realize how limited Blocks by Google are - if you just told a person to make a simple shape in Blender (something like, I dunno, a star, or a tonfa) without any previous knowledge of the software, they'd struggle a lot, while it only takes a minute in Blocks by Google.
Once Blender or some other app gets a solid VR support, you will be able to make marvels. Imagine weight painting, painting textures, sculpting and setting bones and crap in VR. It would be intuitive.

If you get virtual desktop, you can shitpost on Yea Forums IN VR.

>buying anime barbies
fucking child

Amazing I'm sure, especially if they make it super user friendly by recognizing pictures and being able to make initial meshes/morphs. Just like facegen or 3d printing.

I am looking to boost test, by tricking my mind I am engaging in sexual behavior without even jerking or nutting
What are some good VR sexual games(preferably anime) I can get into

>kermit's ass

Gal Gun 2, Catgirl Playroom, VR Kanojo, VRChat unironically.

damn I wish I was as rich as you, being able to afford such
>Thermaltake AIO

can you get wireless adapter for the original Vive?

Yes and they're less expensive than for Pro.

needs games

Yes, the only difference is that you don't have to buy the $50 Pro mounting kit. You can just buy the adapter.

Look up 'hands free orgasm' things.
Binaurals / ASMR are very hit and miss and usually not worth.
Most of it tends to be hypnosis but if you're not into that you can easily just skip ahead to the good parts.

Attached: Buffing the pig.gif (500x371, 196K)

>Will it succeed?

depends on quality of porn

propably not im expecting those to run like shit and have VERY limited library of games.

Might have to look it up, maybe we can port our game to that. If they paid would be great bit of extra income

God damn it looks sexy.

Success depends on how FB markets it and if it gets games. I'm pretty hopeful though. FB seems to understand that good games need to be financed by them.

What glasses should I get if the only game I want to play is Beat Saber? PSVR version has content drought so I want to play it on PC.

Occculus Rift.

>They are posting on Yea Forums with an internet connection
that's a pretty low bar bub

any cheap WMR will do the job

Pimax is overpriced shit tho, O+ or any of the WMRs seem like better options.

From the look of it, I'm betting it'll be limited to the Oculus Store so there'll be a fair selection but not as large as the Steam store.

>unless it's a girly voice saying she's under 18
are you retarded? that's the only time when you should

It's a fucking phone running on snapdragon 835, just another dumb mobileshit gimmick to dupe impulse buyers.
Oculus is dead, thankfully MS and Valve are still around.

it was confirmed that it will have it's own store, not compatible with Oculus Rift store

It runs on a phone processor, it won't run any PC games and since it's not actually a phone you won't be running even phone games either, just the few games they pay devs to do.

I thought Oculus Go was the phone one.

Attached: 61FT9ETakpL._SX679_.jpg (679x305, 13K)

>it won't run any PC games
The page confirms that Moss and The Climb from the Oculus Store will be playable.

>watered down ports

They're still PC games available on the Quest.
We're also getting Superhot VR and Robo Recall along with over 50 others.

They are PC games ported to mobileshit, not PC games.

Is Fortnite a mobile game?

It's the same shit as the Go which has a snapdragon 821 and a limited app selection.
Facebook gave up on the PC crowd before even starting because mobileshit data collection is where the money's at, everyone expected that but I hoped they would at least keep the PC sets around.

Fortnite mobile is a mobile game, yes.
I can't imagine anyone here unironically shilling for another mobileshit garbage which will only be used as a glorified video player like the Go was with no one buying into the limited app ecosystem, this doesn't benefit anyone in any way, Oculus is dead and it's time to let go.

>Typical Occulus Owners.webm
They're not even using the Oculus?

Quest will have much improved tracking, controllers and 6 degrees of Freedom, instead of 3

FB didn't give up on PCVR, it's still in the works but it's pointless to release just an incremental upgrade. We are still couple years away from gen 2, tech isn't there yet

bud
extremetech.com/gaming/279364-oculus-rift-2-canceled-co-founder-leaves-facebook

Oculus is in a race to the bottom right now for the lowest of lowest casuals, they don't give a fuck about the gaymin crowd.

old clickbait article that was officially denied by FB

What's the "best" WMR on the market? Samsung Odyssey?

Surely a company with a purely casual userbase that has been only doing headsets for casuals secretly cares about PC, right??

Brendan was pretty explicit about it too.
>Iribe and the Facebook executive team had “fundamentally different views on the future of Oculus that grew deeper over time,” and Iribe wasn’t interested in a “race to the bottom” in terms of performance, we are told.
I have no idea why people even try to hype up this Quest garbage when it's just another iteration of the Go mobileshit which doesn't have anyone here as their target audience.

Odyssey+ has by far the best display, and it had a price drop to $300

They literally cancelled a Rift 2 and saying they still "plan" to do it eventually doesn't deny anything.
uploadvr.com/three-canceled-rift-successors/

Rift 1 is already outclassed by the budget WMRs so any iterative crap won't catch on, Oculus lost their first-mover advantage and will only keep getting memed on by established gadget companies, they rely purely on brand name and targeting shittier niches now.

>Still not available in Europe

That's not gonna come for us europoors.

Tracking needs to be good enough for expert+ on beat saber. Are any WMRs capable of this?

>using vr for games

I don't have one but it looks alright in random youtube vids.
The thing about WMRs is that most of them rely on bluetooth from the controllers to the PC so there's a range problem while with the O+ they connect to the headset itself which should make tracking better.
I think buying a good bluetooth dongle for your PC should fix that though, people complaining about tracking always seem to use some terrible setup.

reddit anecdotes claim it's good

I haven't ever seen active threads about 3D monitors and they have nothing in common, stop being a moron for once.

We're at the beginning of stage 2. Competition is dropping the price and increasing quality. Vive and Oculous are more an duopoly than monopoly, but it still applies

Attached: productlifecycle.png (850x542, 18K)

Helps that the competitors are the likes of Sony and Microsoft (along with multiple big name manufacturers using the WMR standard)
If it were left to Oculus and HTC alone yeah I'd be worried

>Thread over 7 hours old

The last VR thread reached bump limit
Europoors just hate VR for some reason

>on-rails shooters

literally name one. I literally can't think of a single on rails VR shooter. On-rails fundamentally doesn't work in VR

Gal*Gun VR

wtf, but Yea Forums said VR had nogames

>moving the goalpost

Nah, I completely agree with you that PSVR, on-rails VR, and a bunch of terrible games nobody has ever heard of are bad. We are in complete agreement.

But it's kind of like making the argument that PC is bad because you can dig up some shithouse indie game noone has ever heard of or cares about.

I broke a finger playing Gorn after I punched the shit out of a metal support beam.

Frankly I am amazed they exist, on-rails vr is retarded

How long until we get a true tank simulator? Not a glorified TPS but one where you actually have to crank shafts and gears and work together as a team to operate a war machine?

Attached: Inside a Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausführung E..jpg (1981x2845, 718K)

It makes sense for a Sitting VR setup like PSVR or Oculus

that sounds boring AF

Some user was working on a WW2 spider tank sim, looked immersively autistic

Yeah, these are the games people are buying VR for lmfao

>still moving the goalposts

>person makes claim that all there is on VR is on-rails shooter
>have to dig up a bunch of games no one has ever heard of to even prove they actually exist at all

"does even one exist?" was a bad argument, but that doesn't change the fact that the person who said "all there is is on rail shooters" is a complete fucking retard.

Also known as the only somewhat successful vr platform

Just make it yourself, that premise doesn't sound too difficult to pull off.

youtube.com/watch?v=5Qsj4hXzN_M

Tell me how good rap is because it's popular, faggot

PSVR is a disgrace to VR, it's complete trash.

youtube.com/watch?v=D7h-CVqA6qg
I'm not sure how games like this and Star Trek Bridge Commander get made, this is about the most niche shit imaginable

Fair enough.
Rush of Blood is genuinely a great game though

Oh yeah, because a platform being successful has no relevance towards its dev support whatsoever, right, you fucking inbred retard?

>Rap is the most popular music genre
Pop still reigns supreme, cunt

I think PSVR is ok despite me not being a consolefag myself, they have actual games and promote dev support unlike mobileshit.

the use pop, what's the difference? Do you have a point?

nobody cares about drake

How do I be social on VR chat? I'm a socially anxious shut in so I figured it might be a good way to talk to people

and nobody with a brain cares about PSVR because it's completely gimped

Close to panel 3 right now

Attached: tbuz9b3vy0p11.jpg (699x3305, 310K)

That's a damn shame. That actually looks pretty cool.

What's a shame?

This kind of stuff being super niche. I guess everyone just wants porn so the actual good ideas like making tank or ship sims gets passed up.

...but it is being made? The fuck are you even on

He means that so few engrossing games like that are being made and that's a shame. Casual VR is holding back what this stuff could be truly capable of. These "new" headsets on the horizon powered by Snapdragon processors (normally found in phones) are not going to be driving games like we play on tethered headsets but it will suffice greatly for the myriad of porn apps.

We already have a sub sim (Iron Wolf) so it can't be impossible to have a tank one

I'm never going to pay for a standalone piece of shit when a $10 phone box does the same.

Given how niche this shit is and then how niche vr is and then making it multiplayer to boot, it's amazing the games are being made period. That's not a "shame" that's awesome.
That dumb nigger better buy in, I have tons of niche interests that have zero games

>O+ sold out everywhere I looked
wtf but Yea Forums told me it was dead

>put on oculus
>collect o-home gacha decorations
>play VR "game" for 3 minutes before remembering how short, boring, simple and lacking in features every single "game" is

That's a good point. The nicheness is not a negative. It can be turned into a positive and it needs people supporting it.
