It really fucking isn't, in any capacity. Sidequests are almost completely unnecessary. But worst of all, it's completely piss easy. The companion does all the work for you. It's the next best thing to impossible to die anywhere outside of raids, which surprise, are also complete shit.

Some decent stories and some decent VA work doesn't make up for being a completely garbage game. Especially considering the story as a whole goes completely down the shitter once you complete your class story.

ME2 had a lot of problems that probably caused ME3 to be shittier than it would have been otherwise but you could still see plenty of the old BioWare in it from time to time. ME3 and DA2 were a shitshow from beginning to end.

TOR was alright. It was no Star Wars Galaxies, which I'll always miss, and the writing was not consistently on par with KotOR, DAO, Jade Empire, or the Mass Effect trilogy, but I did have plenty of fun with it and did enjoy the game all the same. Especially the Sith Sorceror story. That class was the most fun to play for me and his story was a beautiful power fantasy through and though, rising from being a slave to being a Sith Lord and killing half the Sith Council and your master to get there. That shit felt genuinely cathartic and triumphant to me. But regardless, it still suffered from being a WoW clone with a really ugly art style and poor MMO elements with which to keep you playing. Also, not every class story was made equally. The Bounty Hunter and Smuggler stories were particularly not very good, and the Trooper story was too boring to keep me interested past the early levels.

I wouldn't sat TOR is necessarily recent though btw, it came out in 2011 before ME3 released in the spring of 2012. Those to games were basically the last gasps for Bioware as people like to remember them. Afterward the founders and most original and senior talent left. Everything after basically is Bioware in name only. Anthem is final proof of that.

Then this might be for you. I've played through the prelog snd the first open area, and if what I've played is any indicator for the rest of the game both the sneaking and combat system has been improved.

When it comes to combat, it feels more fluent. It's not just you mowing down a bunch of dudes or monsters. I was fighting in one are and the fight ended with 2/3 of the enemies surrendering because they saw their allies get mowed down quickly. I also had an encounter where I shot and wounded a lone watcher, and instead of advancing I kept it in my sight and slowly backed away, it retreated after a bit instead of attacking.

all bioware has to do is do the right thing and make a good game.
I bought and enjoyed inquisition and its dlcs so it's still possible for them to please me
I still have some hope for DA4 but if Bioware dies before then I wouldn't be that upset

This is a bit misleading. The most likely situation is the director, who'd gained enormous clout in the company for getting FFXV and made it one of the best selling titles, was the main one pushing for continued DLC. Same goes for all the bells and whistles they added and planned to add to the PC version. He's kept talking up doing such things in interviews for awhile. However, it's clear SE also wanted to move Luminous on to another project, one that Tabata himself didn't want to do since he's been talking up doing his own idea for awhile. So Tabata left and SE moved the Luminous devs on to some new game.

It's different from Andromeda, which had a whole host of DLC planned to round out the game's plot. Those were never realized. Meanwhile FFXV got several DLC's released that did exactly that. The DLC cancelled were weird side character stories and an actual AU ending that were never planned for in the original project plan. Which is why it was so easy to cancel. Meanwhile Andromeda's planned DLC, all of it, was cancelled and the entire studio shuttered and shuffled off to separate areas of EA. Luminous just moved on to another project.

Microtransactions being in a game is fine as long as it doesnt mess with gameplay and strictly cosmetic, or have other ways of achieving. Sure you can buy everything with real money but you can also earn premium currency by selling parts and everything can be grinded for.

I swear, anyone who played demo should've had a very clear picture of the state of the game - yet somehow people start shouting AFTER release like they've been completely deceived.
It's like people bought it expecting some deep narrative & story driven multiplayer game or something. It's also as if people had no idea that it's a lootershooter - I see people using arguments like "grind" when it's a thousand times more playerfriendly than alternatives like Destiny and Warframe.

It's a triple A title, it DESERVES to be judged strictly - but in my experience, vast majority of the negatives in this game are only technical issues and lack of content.

Also, I think that anyone who "beat" the game in sub 10 hours is a fucking nolife autist and was literally asking to get bored of the game fast.

Siege is carried by the fact that it's core concept is fantastic and unique. The game itself is mediocre as fuck with a litany of issues and bad design choices. It's far from being a masterpiece of competitive games.

I do remember, and I remember how those series I loved were raped into oblivion with stupid design choices nobody asked for while forgetting why people liked the older iterations. It's not like there is anything wrong with changing a formula, or expanding on what you've built, but what they did was fucking god awful.

The maps have degenerative bones and the operator balances is shit because of it.
The maps are so bad in Siege that the comp map pool is literally 7 maps and there hasn't been a new map that is even competitively viable since Villa. Not just that new maps need to be assessed. New Hereford is an abortion. Fortress is a fucking mess. The proposed reworks of operators aren't out still. Shields are still complete cancer. Glaz and Ying are autobanned most of the time. Flank control on many maps require a straight of shift + w to clear.
I have 3k hours in the game. The game has GLARING problems.
Why hasn't Maverick been countered in design? Why isn't he in quarantine? They admitted they can't fix the audio.
Why can't you disable auto-reload?
Why is night mode still in the game? It STILL lowers framerate for some reason.

LoL may have balance issues, but at least it works near 100% of the time.
In Siege, you have shit balance, shit maps, and bugs.
The lean spam fix made quick peeking broken because your camera goes beyond the corner before the animation so you can shoot around corners while being invisible and unkillable.
Devs are literally unironically silver players who play with controllers.

It's incredibly average with a lot of small annoyances. If you play it you will also have to spin a wheel on random crashes/bugs/performance issues that may or may not happen to you. It's hard to call it a "bandwagon" when even sites like IGN are criticizing it. It's so mediocre even if you are supposed to give it a good review it'd be a lie to do so.

I mean, you are going to have a hard time finding anyone who doesn't support that view of this game being mediocre right now. All I'm saying is even the people who usually praise average games as 8/10 probably can't do it this time around as it'd be a bit too on the nose. If you really wanna form an opinion of your own I think there's a free trial, otherwise there's a few decent videos explaining in more depth all the issues they saw with it. You'll notice a few common themes around a lot of them, most of which did their reviews without any immediate knowledge of other people's opinions at the time and just based on their own gameplay.

For one thing, scores are retarded so don't take it scoring increasingly closer to F76 to mean it's exactly as that bad. With that out of the way, the more I think about the game, more incredibly retarded the whole thing seems. Literally the only positive is "can be fun to play while it's still fresh." Everything has some sort of qualifier from the story, which is pretty unengaging even by general industry standards, the content, there's so little to the game to actually do, to the completely bonkers UI and loot mechanics, which doesn't even have a stat screen and there's not a single bit of exclusive loot to any of the games missions. The entire thing is completely borked and that's going to become more and more obvious as time goes on.

You could talk about how the gameplay revolves around playing with people online but the story doesn't touch on this at all. How combos are central to the combat but the game never highlights this or even explains it beyond a codex entry. How the whole fucking appeal of the game is flying, but high level content forces you to play a banal cover shooter, hide-and-poke-your-gun-out-quickly playstyle. How there's no unique loot to the end game, just the same guns you've seen before in a different color and with a decal and some mostly worthless random stat bonuses. Same for abilities, but minus the different appearances. You could talk about how one of the three Stronghold you're meant to spend most of your endgame time doing is literally just the final level again. How you need to go through a loading screen to open your inventory.

Is it a complete burning car wreck of a game like Fallout 76? No. But on almost every level there's something fundamentally wrong or unfinished or just not very good about the game. I think people have a hard time articulating it because the initial presentation, visuals and gameplay-wise, is pretty good that they just go "it can't honestly be that bad, can it?"
