This was caused by the failure of Project Hammer for the Wii which happened under Reggie's watch.
Furthermore, under his leadership, Nintendo's American studios have struggled and have seen a sharp decline in terms of developers, game output and overall quality. All symptoms of having a marketing guy in charge of the important decisions. It is very clear that while Reggie made for a fantastic VP of Sales and Marketing, he was awful as President of Nintendo of America.
