What do you think? You don't need big differences in ping for shots to register as what they shouldn't have. Problem is that unlike every other FPS on the market, that inconsistency is enough to mean it either takes you multiple reloads to kill someone or in 3 seconds.

I don't think I've ever had this issue. I've used the re 45 with an upgraded clip and melt purple shields. Times that I don't, it's clear to me that I didn't control the recoil well enough and missed shots.

Choke doesn't add any range. Shotguns work like in real life in this game. All guns have the same range potential.

The thing with shotguns, is that they spread their pre-determined pattern. all the choke does is pull the pattern tighter, so you have more damage on target. the range stays the same.

Also, the Peackeeper hasa star pattern.

The EVA has an 8

the Mozambique has a triangle predator dot, which is why it's shit. It's three pellets in a triangle, you'll only ever hit one unless you're point blank.

Range as in effective engagement range. It might not change the damage or prevent the pellets from disappearing like in other games but it makes it significantly more viable at a distance.

They definitely still have more range than people claim

I know its a meme at this point but look at the wingman v longbow.
It takes 1 more wingman shot to down someone from 200hp then the longbow but the wingman shoots about 3x faster. Both take the skull piercer so that means at this point the wingman is just a better longbow.
Or why is the flatline just worse then the r301 at all times when it takes less attachments?

I find a gold turbocharger for the devotion every round except for the rounds when I'm actually stuck using the devotion

Wingman takes the same ammo and the skull piercer but can almost kill 2 people in the time it takes the long bow to kill one.
Not to mention sniping in general sucks because of mobility, high ttk and quick shield restoration.

Long distance fighting period is trash. Any distance longer than say, the distance between the two piers of the airbase is too long to bother, you’ll just be giving away your location

it's the exact same as it was in TF2. 3 shots was usually enough in sidearm scenarios
which is a problem because the TTK in Apex is twice as long and so are the engagement ranges
either needs a damage boost, spread buff, or both

I don't understand how anybody enjoys these games unless they can score consistent wins on the fly. You never feel like you're getting anywhere otherwise, and the amount of time you take sitting around between each match makes it difficult to try and learn from your mistakes. Doubly so, because there's no guarantee that you'll find yourself with a strong team and/or substantial loot at the start of every match

I know I need to git gud, but learning the game just isn't fun when you have to sit through matchmaking, five different menus, and plow through the boring early game every time you drop the ball.

I can get to the top two everymatch just by sitting in a corner the whole game on my phone. I did it twice in a row. 3500 XP guaranteed, too EZ.

its decent early game in certain close quarters areas like skull town but that's it, past the initial scramble for weapons it is entirely useless

I don't do too hot with him but him and Mirage are my guys to play. Now that I figured out how to swing with his zip line I love swooping in on squads and getting a kill or two.

Also using a zip line on an enemy is satisfying as hell. He's just too much fun.

Over 280 kills with him, 230 survey beacons scanned, Times zipline used by squad= 534. I love pathfinder he's great, going for the quicksilver skin

I honestly have the most inconsistant time killing people. Unlike this post I have decent results with the Peacekeeper but in general the weapon charts online say a gun will do 28 damage a hit; 40 on a headshot or something. When I shoot it I get 12-12-12-12 damage popping up above their heads and I don’t really understand what is going on.

I’m also amazing at other FPS; my speciality has always been the non-aim specific fundamentals like movement; ambushing; positiong; and melee.

I used to roll the Maori that pops a bubble and hold a Peacekeeper; the idea was they’d run in and die to shotgun-melee like it would go down equivalently in Halo.

But in this one the enemies have such fucking CONFIDENCE they just charge me down - next thing I know I’m only holding that fucking downed-shield at them.

I wonder if every game of this I’ve played it’s been against people a second in the future because I only win on the offensive; and every fucking player is offensive.

In Halo: in general you’d not try to go point-blank with a player you see with a shotgun; so you’d obviously avoid charging him from the front inside his bubble-shield. In this game; my opponents could taste the salty fried potato waiting for them in the shield and calmly entered and blew my face off with an auto or something.

I think the game really wants you to 3v1 burst down your opponents one-by-one. It’s kind of a shit-show when two equal people with autos start blasting eachother and doing the reloading dance.

Not the user you were talking to, but to me that's a super boring way to play. Personally I get a rush from dropping in the hottest zone possible and attempting to fight my way out, shit was ultra fun when I go full aggro and try to kill anything. I'm not good enough at aiming to care about actually winning the game, so for now I just try to kill as many as possible in an attempt to practice my aim. That said your way is valid as well, if that's how you have fun user then you keep doing your thing.

The gunplay is fun but I do get sort of a rush from outsmarting players. I'm not used to the "Titanfall" type of FPS that this is, as I've never played it, but I have enjoyed this game a lot when it comes down to the "fight another day" battles that happen 9 times out of 10 when the randos I play with get slaughtered and I have to sneak around, collect their shit, and rez them without getting found or shot.
It might be a boring playstyle but it's the only time I've enjoyed stealthing about in a game since, you know, it's not A.I. coming after you.

peacekeeper is the literal end all be all and 3 patches in they've shown no intentions of changing the balance of it so I've stopped playing. Already hit level 80 anyway so there was nothing left to do but go for achievements and i'm not a faggot so I don't care about them.

Wingman's also way too strong for what it is, but at least it requires a little bit more aim (barely, since it has 100% hipfire accuracy). If they won't nerf other guns, things like the r301 need to be upped to 20 damage a shot to be remotely comparable to the peacekeeper which will shit out 110 damage pumps with the choke, at over 50m.

It happens to me too but I dont really blame the game, I can just admit I missed a lot ot shots which is why frankly I dont like the brap guns compared to shotties that allow you to either hit all or miss all your shots, whereas brap guns for me mostly miss so I never kill them regardless

The game was rushed out the door to clean up the mess left behind with Anthem. They basically killing the project and Bioware and getting whatever cash they can for it now, and to compensate for the losses in this quarter they're going to push out Apex Legends.

It's a battle royale user, a lot is gonna depend on what armor you and the enemy have, in Apex's case what add-ons you have on your gun. For example, the Peacekeeper shotgun has a hop up called Precision Choke which allows you to aim to center all the bullets to a single point.
Apex at least doesn't make all but 2 of the guns RNG power based but there is still luck required in being kitted out enough to not die. I won't say "git gud" but do remember that the guy with the shotgun may have stumbled onto better upgrades than your LMG had

I think Apex is great, but my god does the armour system busted. The idea that you can get the drop on someone, unload an entire clip into them from 5 metres away, then for them to panic turn around and kill you with a lucky head shot is bullshit. it's because you're playing the fat character, he has a huge hitbox and any retard can hipfire you and hitting every shot, shotguns are especially deadly against that fat fuck because all pellets will hit. I understand the shield dance tactic you're trying to do but it does not work with your hitbox, you will always expose your body to your enemy before you can shoot them.
I still have no idea why Respawn thought it was a good idea to have varying hitbox sizes but all hp and movement values are the same for all characters. It's not like their abilities support their survivability better than the other characters.

The game takes a bit of getting used to and recognizing how poorly the weapons are balanced right now. I was really frustrated for the first few hours of playing since I felt like I was always getting out DPS'd and shots that I thought would connect didn't. Then I realized the guns are hitscan and leading targets is important, even at close range. From there, I learned most automatic weapons are garbage and shotguns/wingman are the way to go. I can now pretty consistently win games and solo full squads but I do feel like a bit of a shitter for abusing the absurdly imbalanced guns. Unironically just play more and git gud, most people playing are actual retards

Both LMGs have some of the highest DPS in the game. You were clearly missing shots.

Even assuming fully decked armour and helmet, you would get them dropped in 7 shots, which even the slow ROF of the Spitfire can manage in a second. If you were hitting all of your shots, they couldn't two shot you with a shotgun.

I also find it funny that people are bitching about shotguns when R99, Spitfire, Wingman, etc are all way better than the Peacekeeper.

One thing that I've learned that has made the game a lot more fun is to embrace those high traffic landing zones.

Sure, you could technically stay alive longer by trying stay away from other players and conflict for as long as possible. But you're never going to win unless you kill the other team. And by the end game, all that mid tier loot you managed to scavenge because no one else wanted it isn't gonna help you kill the team that is fully kitted out.

So this way, you either fight through a ton of people early on and feel good about yourself, or die immediately but get to immediately try again in a new match.

This is exactly how to play. Fight early and often.

Not to mention this is the only BR where the meta -isn't- sitting around like a dipshit.

People. Are. The. Loot. Go out there, kill people, and learn how your weapons, skills, and movement works. Moreover, you'll learn other valuable skills like knowing when to disengage, when to hold your place, and when to give other fighting teams a bit of room to breathe.

Peacekeeper is legit busted though.
If you drop in a hot zone or near other people like you should be doing, if you get a peacekeeper it's gg because you can one tap everyone nearby who hasn't gotten lucky with shield drops and double tap them otherwise
every other gun has a relatively similar kill time but the peace keeper just outclasses them in close quarters, which is pretty much what the entire map is based on.

Short-term fixes
>removed extended mag from wingman
>change peacekeeper spread and damage from charge shot
>remove Lifeline’s healing passive or shield while reviving passive
>change Bangalore’s passive to only activate when she is directly hit
Long term changes
>improve netcode if possible
>normalize character hitboxes
>if too lazy to normalize hitboxes, then change health values. 75 for small characters (wraith, lifeline) 100 for medium characters (bangalore, bloodhound, mirage), 125 for big characters (caustic, Gibraltar, pathfinder)

These would literally fix the game

How the fuck do you lead your shots in this game? Apex is fucking weird in that sometimes the weapon feels like a hitscan (in that you shouldn't lead your weapons at all at certain distances) and at times you need to lead over a mile away. It's probably the biggest problem I have with this game (to get gud) because my aim is whack. I tried reducing my DPI but I'm not sure if me shooting better is a response to lower DPI or just coincidence. It's amazing how playing only shit tier games like Battlefield and CoD will fuck you up really hard if you go to any game that is remotely faster than those two.

Best bet is that you were firing at a ungabungalore that was already downed, and hitting their knockdown shield which absorbs a lot of damage (blue up to 250, purple/gold up to 750). That damage also doesn't count towards end of match summaries.

I've had this a bunch too. I think the game may not count damage to shields or something. I've had plenty of successful games where the end screen numbers didn't feel at all like the amount of damage I'd actually done either.
I say this as somebody who generally gets a decent number of kills per game and wins a lot more fights than I lose, too, so it's not just a git gud thing. There's definitely something fucky in the post match damage screen.

damage on knocked down opponents doesn't count. see Confirming kills is just that, confirming the kill, you're not contributing to it in any significant way.
In fact the only reason to ever really bother finishing someone off is if you have gold chest. And even then it's such a long vulnerable thing that it's still a terrible idea.

I've definitely had it happen with enemies that were up and active and shooting back, though. I had one game the other day where I solo killed two whole squads and only ended up showing like 650 damage, despite having to burn through armor on almost all of the enemies.

I mean, I just don't believe that. I've had times where the game's showed me a hitmarker and blood spatter, but never damage without it being confirmed on there. I've even had kill trades. Never something like that though, just phantom damage. If you can record it that'd be cool. Sorry to hear it's happening to you though.

I've played several battle royale games but it has fundamental flaws that can't be ignored. If you roll with randoms and they suck there's nothing you can do about it, people that play together will always win. Sometimes you have to fight 20 people at the start and other times you're in the zone and wait for 20 minutes and there's no action because it's happening somewhere else.

Might just be some desync weirdness or something. One way or another it doesn't happen that often and it doesn't really bother me much, since it doesn't seem to affect anything other than the end results screen. Built in ranked matchmaking systems killed CS and games like it. They turn something that should be fun into something that's stressful and frustrating and they don't let you play with or against players who are better than you, so you don't get good practice and opportunities to learn and get better at the game.
I was a pretty serious (albeit amateur) competitive FPS player back in the days when that was all done with 3rd party ladder sites and I was a good player on a good team that made it as high as 3rd place on the global rankings for our game, but those days are long over for me. I like Apex because it's a game where the FPS skills I've spent the past 20+ years building are actually relevant but I can have fun and not worry too much about winning or losing games.

The vast majority of the playerbase is in ranked, and the remainder is casual modes that don't follow normal rules or use normal rotation maps. There's still a server browser but it isn't used that heavily and it's mostly custom servers with mods etc, and the normal matches tend to be populated either by complete retards that aren't even fun to shit on or by absolute gods who shit on me with no chance of retaliation.
