Is this worth it for someone who liked EU/EW but hated 2? It's on a deep sale atm and I've heard it doesn't run as bad and has a bunch of other changes

If you hate 2 then no. Its just more of 2. get mcdonalds

It's the EW of 2, at straight improvement in every way both in balance changes for vanilla elements and also new content, but odds are whatever you hate about 2 wasn't changed or changed enough to change your mind.

Depends on what you disliked about 2.

thanks for the advice anons
I'll probably finish up my EW run from forever ago and try a new save after that instead then

this, what is it specifically you hated about 2?

It's on a "deep" sale because they jacked up the normal price right from release when it's just an expansion.

it's nothing like 2, infact, it's so different im not sure if i like vanilla 2 more. i think i might

its honestly an entire new game with the expansion and I am fairly certain it has always been 40

The base price was always $40

what I mean is it isn't worth $40 as just an expansion which is why they can put it at such a deep discount so soon

>so soon

it's been out for over a year and a half

War of the Chosen was just released December last year

lol, no it wasn't. the steam page is wrong. announced in E3 2017 and released in august of that year.

That was the Tactical Legacy Pack, which is just some premade story mini-campaigns and some cosmetics. The actual WOTC dlc was released in 2017

>Some fucking mongoloid talking shit about one of the best expansions without ever playing it or the base game
peak Yea Forums

one of my bigger problems was the timer, even when it's modded out the game, it was clearly built with it in mind, did they change that at all? there's plenty more I didn't like, like the awful performance when it released, but that was a big one

this is probably another brenestein/berenstain situation
the timeline has shifted again dammit

no it's just steam being broken as usual

if you click the dlc tab from your library this page has the correct date, but the store page is the date the TLP released, and when they put WOTC on sale

thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind for next time

but of course it would display the shifted date

Performance is actually far better in WotC. Timers are still there

if you mean the avatar project, wotc makes it more manageable with side project things to reduce it, if you mean mission timers they're not even that bad grow some ball hairs

the difficulty was never the issue silly user, I could just mod it out if I want, I just don't like the mechanic and how the game was built around it, if you do that's fine

WotC is the best iteration of XCOM in the franchise by a wide margin
if you don't like the turn limits you can use the in-game doubler or just mod them out. no big hassle.
if your misgivings have to do with some deeper game mechanics than I'm unsure if you'd like it. i personally found the game's decisions more compelling than the samey macro of every EW start

wotc is a musthave if you hate timers. it adds second wave options that double mission or avatar project timers, and the reaper faction has civ-like bonusses that completely negate timers

oh my dude that's an easy fix if it's your main issue
as said there's in-game settings to both increase the avatar project timer (to the point it becomes irrelevant) and to increase the turn limits in missions

mods that are hosted in the workshop remove both completely as well. it's a lot of fun, I'd recommend a pirate at the very least because you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't experience the DLC as a fan of the series

faction bonus things are random every game, it can sometimes be a continent bonus as well

best one by far is the guaranteed one shots vs Lost, lets gunslingers just solo entire missions

Performance changes are huge in wotc, also theres a modifier before you start the campaign to double mission timers, makes the problem essentially gone.

I'll give it a shot then, it's around $16 on gmg right now so I figured might as well look into it

remember:
>early game
templar > skirmisher > reaper
>late game
reaper > skirmisher > templar

instead of using the modifier for double missions timers Id recommend the mod that adds 4 or sometimes 2 turns.
Keeps the timer at least somewhat relevant.
Also Reapers are fucking OP
