woah its really nothing, tell me when 7nm comes out.
it's good for people on a budget
I just want a new card that performs as a high tier without 50% of the fucking die is meme tier RT cores and Tensor shit.
who gives a fuck
pc hasn't had a single good and demanding game since forever
Fuck that naming convention.
This. I have a gtx 1070 and all i play are emulated games and grand strategy games that you can play on any old toaster. High end PC literally has no good games.
Buy a 1080ti and forget upgrading for the next ten years.
1080ti are super expensive now because RTX was a failure. Thought of buying one back when RTX launched but thought they would drop in price with the new shit cards out.
I was so fucking wrong!
Been looking for a used one for the last week but they nearly go for the same price as a brand new cancer 2080 RTX
Got used one with warranty for 400.
I saw one on sale and snapped it up, and was in two minds about it. Then I saw what the prices are now and I saved myself 300 bucks in some cases.
nice
yeah I should have bought it...
Why would you buy a 1070 to only play strategy games and emulators?
isnt this non rtx? the fuck am I supposed to do without RTX? I already play multiplayer on maximum low since it's multiplayer and single player I focus on having the best graphics but if I can't even do that why would I spend money on this.
really made me think to conclusion desu
>the fuck am I supposed to do without RTX?
RTX is a fucking meme forced by nvidia, open source software like Vulkan had support for features like RTS, but since nobody gave a fuck about developing it, it went nowhere and now Nvidia suddenly decided to start with this fucking meme that no game can run properly and no software optimized for even exists yet.
>why buy legacy hardware when the 2080 its on the market
are all pc cucks so retarded?
>used
>warranty
KEK
cuz a 1070 its budget tier card I have one on my HTPC just to watch movies.
>paying several hundred dollars more for a small performance gain and shitty gimmick technology that you won't even use
>living in a shithole without consumer rights
Sux2bu
>small performance
>shitty gimmick
KEK found some poorfag who still hasn't touch RTX
2080 is hot trash garbage for the price. Also 50% of the GPU is useless meme tech that is either broken by design or 2-3 years too early.
I'm mainly going to be playing VR so hopefully this new card can even handle that.
Please be low profile
more meme cards please
I take it it'll be another year or two before GPUs get worthwhile upgrades at decent prices?
I was thinking of building an actual budget pc soon, should I get this when it comes out or is it a big meme?
you cant rma a used vga faggot you just got scared son hope your vga breaks so you can learn your lesson
>you cant rma a used vga faggot
Maybe in the US you can't.
Fun fact: If you buy a used card that is still covered by warranty, it's still under warranty
I don't know how you mongos live
Probably going to be worse than 1050ti. And still more expensive. Just skip this gen and get an older gen gpu.
Why not just get the 2080 then when it's the same price?
Shouldn't have (you)'d me, I know that for a fact, dude is a retard.
>not waiting for Navi
>not waiting for Intel
>not waiting for Nvidia's 7nm cards once they get a fire lit under their ass by competition.
I have a 1070 now but I'm not upgrading until I see what AMD and Intel have in store. Hopefully it will force Nvidia to drop the meme shit and just make competitive hardware again.
why on earth 16xx?
Because 2080 is shit and 2080ti is still too expensive price/performance wise compared to 1080ti, unless you just want to throw money around, but if that's the case, might as well just blow 20k on a pc because why not.
>buy RX590, first AMD card
>2060 comes out 3 months later for $60 more
first and last AMD purchase
Stick to AMD for CPU's and Nvidia for GPU's, AMD still can't make a good GPU to save their lives, but are beating Intel with their hands tied behind their back.
>Dude Intel sucks get an AMD CPU pronto
>Nvidia or bust for GPU bro
And here I am, just happy with my Skylake i5 and a 580
>Got a GTX 1070 last week for free
>replace my GTX 970 after 5 years with it
>constantly get "nvidia driver kernel stopped working and has been restored" bullshit while browsing
>zero issues while gaming
I knew this was just too good to be true
Isn't the 2080 as powerful as the 1080ti?
If so and they are the same price I would just for the 20
Less ram and a shit load of more meme tech cancer. The 2080 should be about 100$ cheaper than the 1080ti but Nvidia justify the price with their stupid useless DLSS and meme tech RTX.
Thinking about the 2080ti since it is after all the fastest shit gpu. The 2080ti is quite expensive though and maybe I should just skip this entire generation as I really dislike the cards on the market. Should have gotten that 1080ti
Have you used driver cleaner and reinstalled? Could be some fucked up settings.
>buy a tweaked Polaris gpu, which is nearly 3 years old architecture
>both nvidia and amd are known for doing this
>complain that it is obsolete
based retard
Yeah I did use DUU and reinstalled but same issue.
Then I did everything here
appuals.com
And I get them way less now like maybe every 2 hours instead of every 30 minutes but the bug still happens.
I read many have this issue with Firefox since 2016 or so. I can't believe this wasn't fixed if it's a software issue and not actually a hardware issue with my card.
>but are beating Intel with their hands tied behind their back
Really? I was just thinking of picking up a 9700k.
Should I upgrade my 980?
I had to downgrade from my 144fps2k monitor to 144fps1080p monitor to keep new games on high settings. Shadows generally fuck my rig up hard though.
Might disable hardware acceleration in firefox. I remember doing something like that.
Not really
the new 3000 series Ryzen will be out this year. I'd wait and compare. From what it looks like it might compete strongly with Intel's higher chips.
No. In gaming the RTX 2080 is on par with the 1080ti though but they are not the "same".
1080ti: 3584 CUDA
2080: 2944 CUDA
1080ti: 11 GB GDDR5X
2080: 8 GB GDDR6
1080ti: Memory Interface 352-bit
2080: Memory Interface 256-bit
Only thing the 2080 wins in is in the "new" meme tech. DLSS aka Vaseline blur filter to lower your texture resolution to low.
and RTX a gimmicky super expensive way to use RT on some effects (single light source Metro and only Reflections in BFV).
No.
Oh well that sucks
Intel is in pretty dire straits right now, they've mistread the market severely to the point that apple abandoned them.
The 2080 does perform as good or better than the 1080ti, especially in newer games. GDDR6 is faster, and architecture improvements weigh out the differences in CUDA count and memory interface. Given the exact same price I wouldn't buy a two year old product over the newer one with more options and better driver support. The argument of buying a 1080ti over a 2080 was only valid when they were a bit cheaper, and they're typically not anymore.
>stuck on a 980ti
>dont want new meme gpus
>1080tis expensive as fuck
fuck
reminder you are a literal retard if you fell for the RTX meme.
And then you get the one with micron memory
1060 runs literally everything on high
I have a 1060 6gb, 16gb of ram, and an i5 6600k. What should my next upgrade be, and what should I upgrade to.
HW acceleration in browser. Change browser or update or change setting or upgrade OS.
>he doesn't read the contracts he signs when buying stuff
The warranty isn't non-transferable, which means it stays with the product not the customer you asshat.
That was the first thing I tried but it didn't fix anything.
Earlier today I rolled back to the January drivers and so far no driver crash
I hope the GTX 1650 can run RE2 in 2560x1440 on medium settings. My 9 year old HD6870 can't run shit at this point
>GDDR6 is faster
yes.
2080: Speed 14 Gbps Bandwidth 448 GB/s
1080ti: Speed 11 Gbps Bandwidth 484 GB/s
>architecture improvements weigh out the differences in CUDA count and memory interface
only for certain things. In gaming in general yes.
>Given the exact same price I wouldn't buy a two year old product over the newer one
ill be lying if I said I would not consider the 2080 if it was at the exact same price at the 1080ti. I would properly still choose the 1080ti as my hate for RTX is just too much.
>they're typically not anymore
they are more expensive now than the 2080. That is why I was mad at myself for not getting a 1080ti back then. Now I am stuck with the meme generation or wait it out.
a 980ti literally runs everything better than a 1060
you and me both bro.
or a bottom bin GPU that can barely run at stock speeds with no head room for any overclock. Fuck Nvidia for hoarding the good gpus for their shitty "founders" edition crap.
What are you running right now?
Just wait.
Do AMD's new cards look any good?
CPU. Hold out for Ryzen 3 and then take a look at CPU market then.
Intel have been stepping up their game even though they are still quite expensive.
the 7 is almost as bad as the RTX gen
Managed to be even worse than nvidia.
970GTX Asus Strix SLI.
but yes I can wait. I just told myself I would upgrade with the new generation and then Nvidia does this meme crap.
So that rumor about "cheapest AMD card shown at CES will be as powerful as a 2070 for $200+" was false?
both are fine, 1060 has more vram I believe
r VII is almost as meme tier as the RTX if you can believe it. And as expensive.
yes
>falling for the x50 meme
DONT DO THIS
Oh please you are perfectly fine @1080 for now
It doesn't
Huh, so that's why I heard almost no one talk about the new AMD cards.
Zen 3000 series. Fucking 8c16t @ close to 5Ghz for
980ti is a far superior card compared to the 1060 in any config. Between 25 and up to 40%.
>1060 has more vram
no they are both 6GB (the 1060 actually comes in lame 3GB versions though).
The 9 series is literally a rebrand of the 8. It's shady as shit. What's even sadder is they're still better than AMD and /g/ still shills for them anyway. Just get either an 8600k or a 9600k and never look back.
Have nvidia's card lines become more expensive and less of an upgrade in the past few years? Or was it always like this?
but I am running 1440p 144hz. And its beginning to show its age.
Guess ill just go back to 60 as I just can see myself give Nvidia any money for that retarded RTX line.
Its only in the last few years because AMD can't get their shit together to compete. When you're the only player in town you can charge what ever crazy price you want and people have no choice to but to bend over and take it.
Solid purchase. Look up reviews instead of listening to /g/. I would chose it but you have to decide yourself.
>Have nvidia's card lines become more expensive and less of an upgrade in the past few years?
in general yes.
however I remember the jump from 6000s to 7000s and that was a tame jump as well.
8000s series was legendary but 9000s where shit.
the 100s-700s where pretty stable and the 900s was good shit. The 1000s jumped prices very much but also added a lot of performance. The 1000s also got insane pricey when the mining craze got going.
the 2000s just want to keep the prices inflated as fuck without offering any significant performance outside of the 2080ti / titan.
Yes I am an old faggot
AMD Ryzen VII was released, its meant for content creators with their 16 GB HBM. Its close to 2070 to 2080 performance depending on games, but priced near 2080. With RTX/DLSS being a complete joke, the only real metrics are power consumption between the two. Radeon VII consumes ~320W during Furmark(extreme testing) and RTX 2080 does around ~220 W.
Yes. This current generation of RTX are fairly shit deals. Nearly 35-40% price increase over previous generation for the same tier and only ~20% performance lift, which is one of the lowest performance lift since forever.
>x50
BASED
Don't think so. 7nm is expensive to produce so it's unlikely it'll be that cheap.
>That fucking coping mechanism
Lmao, VII wasn't made for content creators. They literally advertised the memory for better gaming.
How bad is the 1070ti? I picked one up around Christmas for $250 because I usually saw them going for $300+
VII is actually better than 2080ti for content creator, the ones producing the 4K content doing
any sort of advanced effects. Without the 16GB, adobe can crash easily in many 4K effects rendering.
Also, I've said the performance of the card is between 2070/2080, so its there for gaming if anyone really wants to, but I suggest people skip this generation entirely due to lack of proper pricing from nVidia and competition from AMD. But for any content creator looking for a card
its decent. Especially now that the 2000s have turned out to be so lack luster you are set for good performance all the way to the 3000s series or AMD gets their shit together.
Its a good price for $250. Performs similar to RTX 2060, but nearly $100 cheaper. Whats there to complain about? If nVidia priced their GPU properly like previous generations, and RTX 2060 being priced ~$260, then I'd say 1070ti might be meh deal.
if you're going 4k,
it's shit.
If you're going 2k,
it's good.
If you're going 2k 120fps,
it's shit.
If you're going 1080p 120fps,
it's good.
If you're going 1080p 60fps,
it's Hella great
I've had a 1050 ti since 2016 and I'm super happy with it.
I pitied people who bought 1050ti over RX 470/570. If your motherboard doesn't support it, then I pity them for that. Otherwise, its just a complete rip off. For same, or even cheaper price, the RX 470/570 series is in a tier higher and performs ~ 20-30% better.
>tfw got 1070 Ti on a sale
Feels good knowing I'm alright for the next few years.
>buying a 1050 ti
How am I supposed to upgrade from my 970 ti if all the prices are super inflated? Thanks PC gaming. Thanks bitcoin.
>need to build a new rig from scratch
>want an absolute powerhouse to push DMC5 as hard as possible right out of the gate
>don't want to enable Nvidia by falling for the RTX scam
>7nm coming SOON™ (2021)
Why would you want to upgrade from a 970 ti? It's still a very decent card
>super inflated
Dunno what you mean. Prices are very nice at the moment At least for ATI cards. Fuck Nvidia's pricing policy
>xx50 series card
>$179
OH NONONONO POORFAGS BTFO
Been using a 1080ti for about 2 years and see no need to upgrade even for 4k gaming.
Cuz I want to maximize everything. Can't use official HD textures due to the 3.5 gig memory. Plus I work with 3D models so I kinda need the extra power for sculpting.
Coins have been dead for a while.
Chances are 1st gen 7nm will be horseshit, I'm planning to upgrade now until something equivalent to the 2500k for 7nm drops
Nvidia's marketing works really well. Geforce is for a lot of people so hardwired with gaming they don't even know that lower tier AMD cards can game, let alone be better at it.
Try to find a used 1070ti or a 1080.
Or since you work with modeling, also consider a Vega 56. Vega cards are great for compute workloads, and the prices are okay at the moment.
I though 980ti default was 8GB vram, mine has 11GB
>$179 MSRP
>4GB GDDR5 RAM
Fucking retarded as FUCK. Just buy an RX 580 or 570.
