Is there a way to make it look less blurry? Shit looks like a PS2 game.
Katamari forever, lets you explore lots of comfy jap settings and then comfortably roll them up.
Shenmue
Going to Tokyo this summer as well as some other stop offs around Asia. I've wanted to do it for so long I can't wait.
Anyway Persona 4 during the daytime was great but nothing could beat nighttime Shibuya in 5.
Japan is depressing, all asian countries are. Asians don't know how to have fun.
If I ever get to Japan I'll just aimlessly walk around. Safest place on Earth to do so.
Can't let you do that, user.
god I wish I was an asian insect
I want a game set in ancient Japan where you're a samurai and you get to walk around a comfy city kind of like a larger scale yakuza.
ぶらぶら
Way of the Samurai is the closest that mimics that feeling but WotS doesn't take itself seriously
>I have genuinely watched this and similar videos all the way through dozens of times
>at least enough to instinctively skip that annoying as fuck air thing that I swear I can feel hitting my face every time

K&L 2 Dog Days
This and it looks like rdr2.
It's a vita game. So there's only so much you can do, here's one from my current rig though.
kane and lynch 2 isn't in japan dude
and that changes what exactly cuck boy?
yes it is.
go back to redit.
Fact is that the only devs that have the balls to make a game where you can explore just a single city, and to have it not be shit, is Jap devs. However, they won't ever make it since to them Japan is just every day life and they think American cities are similar to their's
Jesus I forgot this thing had real ads in it.
This thread is about japanese cities. Not new york or whatever kane and lynch is. Also kane and lynch sucks.
you know something?YOU SUCK.
You do know Rockstar exists, right? That's not a japanese developer.
the deus ex games have good city hubs.
GTAV has no interiors at all.
True, that's pretty much the only game series that has ever done it right. It's dead now though.
Anyone got that one gif of an upward shot of a building with a little bit of VHS grain and something like, "What if our existence is someone else's hell"?
You ever played Deadly Premonition?
>cozy Japanese town
>posts apartments and busy metro area
You're a dumb nigger, but Kyoto is a pretty laid back city that I enjoy just walking around. Fuck most of Tokyo and all of Roppongi though.
>driving for half an hour.
This is literally the exact opposite of what I'm talking about. Japanese cities are specifically not like American cities in the sense that you don't have to drive 15 minutes to get anywhere at all, and they're designed to be able to walk or use public transportation to get where you need. Doing tons of driving is not fun.
Why the fuck would I want to walk, then I have to look at people or worse, interact with them.
Yakuza
because its a fucking video game, everything should be within reaching distance. I'd much rather have public transportation quick travel or just have everything within distance of walking.
Here's a few reccomendations, pal.
Gogocurry is fucking delicious
Get a Pasmo card for the subways
Asahi Tower in Asakusa if you're a photographer, just go to the top floor and buy a 500 yen beer for entry into the lounge.
Torikizoku for cheap food and beer for a night out
Kin no Kura is good too.
For souveniers, Tokyo station, also the location of Ramen street, if you like authentic ramen (I Don't)
Vending machines are a godsend, Mitsuya Cider is my go-to vending drink besides water.
Feel like trash? go to 7-11, Lawsons, or Family mart and get a Vitamin C drink, they're neon yellow and in little glass bottles.
Oedo Onsen Monogatari is amazing, try the ice cream when you get out of the hot spring area, it's amazing. Don't bother with too many drinks, they're all like 500 yen. (Even soda, which was a pitiful amount) But the curry stand was cheap.
Don't go to dennys, just don't.
Akihabara is kind of confusing, and despite being kind of a weeb, my least favorite place in Tokyo.
Asakusa is wonderful
Shibuya is fantastic, but scramble crossing is a meme and actually pretty small.
Coffee and tea in the vending machines is served hot
Conbini bento boxes are the best breakfast when you're hungover
7/11 has the best Kare-pan
Don't buy Pizza buns from Family mart
Blue bagged popsicles with a kid on them are tasty af, if it's hot or you're more drunk than that guy that puked on the train, get one. I bought mine from Family mart
DO NOT BUY FANTA
Diver City is really cool, if you like gundam you won't be disappointed.
Use tinder to meet girls or other foreigners in the area to hang out with.
Gacha is addicting if you find one you like
Matsuya>Yoshinoya It's like 300 yen for a bowl of Gyudon, extremely cheap and filling.
I stayed in Adachi, and I love the quiet suburb I was at, explore your local streets at night, and remember Izakayas are the best part about Tokyo.
That upcoming game from Sucker Punch will most likely have this.
>cozy Japanese town
>Not depressing post-commie Slav town
Thank you so much, I've had a couple friends who have been before and some of their recommendations match up with yours so that's always a good sign
The park in Shinjuku was pretty nice too.
I tried playing Way of the Samurai 4, and it's the worst fucking piece of software I used in years. When I first tried playing it, the whole thing shat itself in every way possible - first it crashed multiple times, then the sound glitched out, then the controls were kinda busted, then it crashed again and then I refunded it.
Too fucking bad, I really wanted to play it.
If you like Deer go to Nara Park, maximum comfy just walking around feeding deer and taking in the sights. A lot of Africans in Shibuya and Roppongi, and those areas kinda suck for tourism. The Hokkaido area is pretty cool and you go to an onsen and go to Jigokudani Monkey Park. The cultural landmarks of Japan are really awesome, but if you just want to go to Japan for anime weeb shit I wouldn't recommend it.
As a midwesterner in a small city, this looks like hell. Probably doesn't have the NYC omnipresent smell of urine though.
Persona 5
Yokai Watch
TWEWY
Chulip
Tokyo Jungle
inevitable ass creed samurai edition will cover you
Going to Japan next year with some friends. How should I prepare? Depends how many days off I can get but 1-2 week should be right.
don't be ugly faggots, have money. there you go.
>Thinking of going to Sapporo next year for the snow festival and Miku concert
>am a Floridafag
Saints preserve me, I haven't seen snow in almost twenty years.
That sucks, I'm a huge fan of the Way of the Samurai games and have 4/3 on both PS3 and PC and have never had problems with them. They occupy a weird niche and are mostly generic samurai stories with bad Japanese slapstick comedy. Worth a pirate but not worth a headache.
Will I get looks for being brown?
>Postmodern architecture.
>Comfy.
Now here's some REAL shit taste.
check out a channel on YT called rambalac, it's literally all cozy videos of the guy walking the streets of Japan
>DO NOT BUY FANTA
Why?
>moving the goalposts
dont be that faggot, post some other places so we can enjoy more, jesus you little bitch
>Cozy
Looks like urbanistic hell
>ywn be 14 and play Yakuza 1 for the first time
>Game let's you explore a cozy Japanese town
Siren
Do you mean "get a Pasmo over a Suica card" or just to get one of those in general?
no. this thread sucks and i refuse to contribute
I would rather have driving in my game than “press x to go place”. Driving is at least interactive
One step above commieblocks.
Seriously, if you look at post-modern architecture and think 'comfy', you're blind and retarded.
you have twice already, even if the posts added nothing.
Guess there's still a few tards who believe that. Stay mad
I want a game like GTA that takes place in a modern asian city why the fuck nobody wants to make that? All those kind of games are set in a shitty american cities which look so third world compared to modern asian cities.
>not finding comfort in the collectivisation of masses of modern men and women in one place
I can't eat meat. Will I be missing out on a lot of food?
>what is yakuza?
God I love blocky 90's modern architecture
Better than shitty medieval and ancient architecture like in Europe.
Seriously? Sleeping Dogs dude
yes, especially if you also mean fish meat
you might starve to death
>DO NOT BUY FANTA
How is Japanese Fanta different from any other?
liquid sugar. I'm an american and japanese fanta is fucking gross.
pasmo or suica, I got the pasmo, and I still carry it in my wallet.
as a bonus, You can use them at some vending machines.
Also, AMA about tokyo; I'll do my best.
Nigga it's the land of rice and noodles. You'll be fine.
Invisible walls everywhere, you can't drive a car around wherever you go etc. Sleeping Dogs was only good one.
I never said I did but the poster can and thats fine, if we all felt the same this shit would be boring and you wouldnt have had to post.
I finished that ages ago I want something new to play.
I forgot that we had a /trv/ board.
Nah I can eat seafood
I wish more open world games let us walk up and walk around building verandas like that pic
>cozy
are you from the country? that looks like very single other grit'n'shit city on the planet.
That's not cozy at all... At least post some GOOD looking Japanese towns. Now THIS is comfy
>A lot of Africans in Shibuya and Roppongi
I guess it was inevitable that Japan gets blacked eh.
How vertical is it? As in, am I going to be walking up a lot of steep hills everywhere, or is it mostly flat?
t. Seattle resident
>Sapporo
I would give my ass and soul to live there
Depends which brown. The only browns most Japs are wary of are Muslim browns. I'm a 6'4" muscular islander and get stares for that, but generally Japanese people are very friendly and like seeing people enjoy their culture.
>How should I prepare?
Pack your stuff, download the google translate app with the Japanese language pack and you're good to go. Here's a site of useful phrases to get you through most daily interactions.
omniglot.com
In the Tokyo area just get a Passmo card at any train station and load it up with money so you're not constantly having to figure out how much each ride will cost you. The JR west rail pass is cheap because it is shit and you really won't use it much. Stay in hostels like K's house or use Airbnb, hotels are overpriced and you're basically just using them for sleeping.
I hate cities like that. I grew up in a foggy montain green city so I think the blocky big city buildings are much more comfy. There's a better sense of being just another living being in a massive structure. I really love that.
Kane & Lynch 2 rocks, pal
then you'll probably be fine, honestly
they love their seafood over there
100% both fish and chicken are huge staples of cuisine. Don't be too bummed if you go to an Izakaya and you only end up eating a bowl of Edamame and cabbage. That also being said, there's quite a lot of egg around, so if you like it and you can eat it; it's always a safe bet. amazing quality.
Also, if cross contamination with meat is fine for you, when at an Izakaya, you can rely on grilled onion and shishito peppers from Yakitori that whoever you're with ends up buying. they're tasty. Miso soup will probably end up being your life too. It's not like there aren't a variety of vegetables used, it's that most of them come with meat.
Shibuya has some verticality, Asakusa is practically flat. As a Seattle resident you won't have an issue.
Homes are very vertical though, lmao. I stayed in a 3 bedroom 3 story house in Adachi with narrow very steep steps. Both my friend and girlfriend ended up falling when drunk.
Not really, other than pushing their shitty clubs in Roppongi, the Nigerians are pretty cool. Saw a group of street performers break dancing/rapping in Shibuya.
That doesn't look cozy to me.
Looks like a nice place for suicide.
Hello fellow Florida fag
Snow is shit
Why would you want to spend time driving when you could spend that same time actually playing the video game? GTAV is the worst example, sometimes you drive for straight 5 minutes just to get somewhere to play the game.
it's in Shanghai, you retard
>the Nigerians are pretty cool
That's how it starts.
>game let's you explore a cozy tiananmen square
I went with two hardshell suitcases with one inside the other for my storage, helps a lot when bringing back souvenirs. As far as planning, all we really wanted to do was:
1. Drink as much as possible for as little money as possible
2. Go to Asahi Tower
3. Imperial Garden
4. Go to the Bape store
5. Oedo Onsen.
I arrived in Tokyo with a small amount of anime and Japanese gameshow language knowledge, with a small amount of phrases and the address of my Air bnb. Just wing it man, unless you like all the huge touristy shit, just wake up, ask everyone where they would like to go to, and just make a day out of it.
If you're a foodie, look up expats on youtube or Paolo for some food recommendations, or read my earlier post in the thread for cheap shit. then google some general areas to go to, Can't remember the name of the super hipster town, but we decided to go there and it was a good day after spending the week with high energy exploration and drunken fun.
Fuck off P5 sucks
What other countries started out with blacks being cool then immediately fucking your wife? 70 years ago you could kill a nigglet in public for whistling at a white woman. Seems like a pretty harsh and long wait to end up fucking some trailer trash hamplanet.
>Comments suburban white boy who has never left his home state much less visited an east asian country.
The two Yakuza games that focus on samurai
Well, it's a matter of taste or nostalgia I think... You would love the cyberpunk genre
I know it, got family in upstate New York. Miku is worth it though.
>mfw this is basically the route between the hotel closest to the concert hall and Odori Park.
>Asians don't know how to have fun.
Oh they do, they just don't show you fat gaijin tourists where the fun is.
Japanese people are very fun, they're all business when they work, but when they go out, particularly for drinks, they're wild and great. Always kind too.
>these seething insects replying to this
I'm visiting Japan in July, is there anything I should know?
You can pay children to have sex with you.
Ghost of Tsushima, hopefully.
I considered going to Snow Fest.
I'd need to save some serious dosh though. Make a thread sometime closer to the event and maybe I'll have saved enough by then
How does one do this without getting ripped of by the yakuza
You have to pick up your phone and dial 110 and then ask the person on the line. But you didn't hear that from me.
Shangai is in Japan you fucking idiot. Do you think Europe is a country, too?
>Shangai is in Japan
>Shanghai is in Japan
user....
BASED retard
I do. I had an article peinted in an international science magazine about cyberpunk a few years ago
>the wakfu people made a movie
aww yeah
Literally ten seconds in google is all it would have taken to not sound like a complete fucking American infront of everyone
American education, everyone.
Nice
