I pissed off the legion and sniping them without AP was a pain since they had 15dt, also you can get like like 3000 rounds of .308 from McCarren so I didn't struggle on needed to get some from lonesome road but it did help when I tackled it.

Legion quests are great because of all the trouble you get to stir up in the Strip and different NCR fortifications. Also it's just fun to rp as a legionfag , they're intense as fuck. The first time you encounter them on a blind playthrough they will more likely than not wreck you. First time I came across them in NV, I did not at all expect for the poison damage to be that high and last that long, nor did I expect them to be that fast or to fight two or three of them at once. Fighting Cazadors on your first playthrough is a nasty sucker punch because they do more damage you would expect while also being extremely aggressive. I still remember one area in the northwest where a nest was near a raider settlement and sometimes you would get to the settlement and be met with raider corpses because a raider AI probably went too close to a nest and aggroed one.

Legion Run's last mission is fucking amazing, standing face-to-face with Lanius in his tent lets you see what an absolute beast he is, fighting along and then under the Dam, facing Oliver and the elite of the NCR's army. The fact that going against Caesar means you're fighting against close range guys and you with a shitload of high-tech makes it easy, but going solo, unarmed against guys in power armour was a rush.

You miss out on a lot of quests and dialogue but get a much more action-oriented game, it's amazing for a second run, and you can definitely feel the strength difference by the end game, rushing into the lodge to face an army of super mutants hopped up on psycho was the most fun I've ever had on a fallout game.
