i like that he also did some tenhou streams so you can kind of get an idea of what you should be thinking about while you are playing an actual game

So far, after 0 I'll tell you a few things that you might not like:

-It's jankier
-Most substories are simplistic and repetitive, except for a very few ones
-It has 2 or 3 fetch quests that can annoy you real bad
-You need to fight majima a fuckton of times to unlock abilities for the best style, otherwise it remains the worst style and it's pretty useless compared to the other 3 (which are the same from zero)
-Reused assets, reused storylines even. Reused fucking everything. Even story parts that seem like they lifted them (though it's a remake, so I'm not sure if it's the other way around) from Zero and switched the characters around
-Difficulty is up, considerably
-Map is almost the same, so you won't get lost at least

Other than that, not so bad really. Not less enjoyable in any case.

So i just started Kiwani. Why does Majima treat him like an old friend (and why does Kiryu do the same) when they barely met in 0?

7 years passed after Yakuza 0 and 10 after Kiryu is out of jail. I'm sure they got to know eachother very well after 0

Just stay in rush mode and dash cancel out of your attack before the kick animation and repeat, you move and attack faster when you have a high heat bar. Majima is easy as fuck to fight, just stay back and learn his attack patterns then go in and do the combo.

If you're really struggling, top up on Stamina Royale and Tauriner++, you can also use these health drinks if you get knocked down, just spam the start button to take them.

Another tip: Beast mode was also helpful against Majima later on, L1/LB + O/B when attacked worked wonders on his health.

Might be due his only friend and "brother" telling him to fuck off and they're no longer bros. Without Kiryu, who the hell else does Nishiki have?

I'm playing yakuza 0 right now, at chapter 7, the cabaret club is actually fun to do.

Why should I bother with the agent mission stuff?

3-5 remasters haven't even made it to the West yet, I think we see those after Kiwami 2 and 6 on PC, if ever.

people like to shit on kiwami, because it's very much like what ocarina of time 3d is to ocarina of time. it's the same game, but with changes, some good, some bad. if you never played 1, you'll love kiwami, because it feels exactly like 0. 1 and 2, in terms of gameplay, were pretty assy, and some of the most "of their era" games around. i'll take kiwami over 1 any day, and i've played them since 1.

Exclusive equips, only way to get the best defensive equipment and accessories in the game, and it's the only way to get the massive majority of weapons. You can just pay to get it down to 0:00 for next to nothing (A couple dozen to a couple hundred million at best depending on what tier you're going for) so it's not a big deal. Equips only really matter on Legend and Hard since Normal and Easy are negligible, but on Legend things like the Dragon Flak Vest, Hi-Tech Armguards, and Hi-Tech Shinguards really help mitigate a lot of nonsense.

All substories for both characters. Amon is always all substories except in 6 where you only need to fight Saigo and Sodachi.

I'll be frank with yah, that game has amazing boss fights but overall kind of sucks, think of fotns as an afterthought rather than something to ask for.

Beat Kiwami today, having the final boss have legend aura regeneration when the ability to stop that requires basically maxing out Majima Everywhere was just mean. Enjoyed it as an expansion pack but I doubt I'll play it much more, maybe if there was less RNG to getting all the Majima shit (Maxing out DoD and the achievements)

kind of the reverse, kiwami 1 is pretty widely shit on by fans for how lazy and clunky it just reuses assets even down to boss fights being lifted outright from jobber enemies like shimano, the secondary antagonist of the game pretty much, just being mr shakedown.

Kiwami fixed the missable substory issues on both 1 and 2 so you don't have to worry, same deal with locker keys. The originals are the ones I'm speaking of, once they got to 4 onward it stopped being something you needed to worry about, the only thing 0 has missable is the Encounter Finder for Kiryu and the Magnetic Necklace (Because it requires #1 in the mahjong rankings if you missed it during the Producer substory and I doubt more than a handful of people would do that so it's worth mentioning).

It's a lower quality expansion pack, I adored 0 and put 77 hours into it, ended up sinking 23 into Kiwami.

It was kinda bullshit. Would've been so much better if he actually killed all the lieutenants and that ugly face asassin. Could also be a nice trigger for his meme personality but instead we got some weird bullshit where he instantly transforms into his future self. That detail kinda fucked up the ending completely, shit should've been vague and only hinted instead of going LOL KIRYU-CHAN without any proper build up. But well, Yakuza isn't really known for fantastic writing.

Everything from 1 onward has it except the two Kurohyou games (They have a parry system instead where you block a guy and retaliate dropping their stamina to 0). 0 has some variations on DoD and Brawler since he didn't learn it yet (I think Beast did as well?). Akiyama, Saejima, and Majima all have their own variant, Musashi has one but hand-to-hand is so awful in Kenzan and incredibly risky, Ryoma has two different types, normal Tiger Drop in hand-to-hand (Obscenely overpowered because parrying with L1 makes you invincible for like 5 seconds and you can Tiger Drop to your heart's content on top of there being a buff to its damage if you uncap hand-to-hand) and another one in 1kat, and Yagami also learns it from a poster.

Nope, just substories. I just mention the items for the people who worry about missing something in general.

It feels like weapons aren't rewarding in general aside from the anti-shakedown ones (Shotguns and daggers)

It's one with a guy in a dress that chases Kiryu from time to time. A handful of silly sallys trying to spin it high off being pissed off at Catherine Full Body, but in actuality it's really a bunch of nothing. This was all confirmed months ago by Nagoshi but people picking up on it like it was yesterday.

Yeah, for a lot of the sidequests you need a guide to even activate them since the number of stuff you must do before having one seems completely random.

Also no, 3 gets a remaster, but not a Kiwami remake, doesn't need one since the PS3 titles are still halfway pleasant to look at. If you don't have a PS3, I think PS now has at least 4 and 5, it costs around 15 bucks a month I think, really worth his price and the library gets updated constantly. And the good think, they don't charge you if you're internet is shit, they do a test first if your internet can even stream those games and if it's does they let you register.

I'm still mad about Goda, the only antagonist I gave a damn in the entire franchise who didn't suffer an overcomplicated plotline where you didn't even know who he was and forgot his name because he only appeared once in the first few hours and then again in the last fight (like the guy in 5 and those fuckers in 4). He had enough appearances in the game to leave an impact and he still is the only one besides Nishiki that actually dies (since bad guys barely seem to die in Yakuza, but every other character does or if they die, they die due some bullshit like sudden cancer outbreak).

Black Panther 1 and 2 are easily the worst followed by Kenzan, then Ishin, then 3, then 5, then FotNS. FotNS is just grinding more than anything and the English version goes by even quicker due to the lower requirements if you're strictly speaking the platinum. The only thing that's even bad for English FotNS are two things:
The debt repayment, but once you earn 50 million you can just donate the 50 million you got alongside the debt that was repaid and you're done with the substory.
The Destiny Talismans to level 7 can be rough but the vast majority of them are gained from Coliseum fights and then the ones you don't get you'll most likely have enough points from the fights to buy them. 100% FotNS just adds another 10-20 hours of Coliseum farming. Kenzan you literally need a guide or a majority of the content is missable since advancing even one chapter can lock you out of 5+ substories and choosing the wrong answer instantly disqualifies you from Amon for that playthrough and you have like 80+ substories you need to answer correctly.
Black Panther is grinding on an unreal level, we're talking 20+ hours of poker and only poker for 500,000 chips and then even more if you want max stats, well over 200 multiplayer matches, the entire co-op battle mode needs to be cleared with the best rank, all substories including Gaia, every single part time job ground into the ground, and the worst version of baseball ever. Then 2 takes it even further with part time job grinding and a whole host of other shit. Thank God there's a glitch for infinite yen because otherwise that's at least 40 hours of poker right there.

It was a close call, but I got him by keeping my distance and closing in when he was done with his attacks, then going off again. For me it was brawl style. Rush style was pretty good too at least to get a few hits in but the damage was so lackluster it would have taken years. Just get one good brawl combo in, get some range, then after he has attacked you dodge or just stay away and then attack him again. I was almost dead when I won though. Probably 10 tries on this one.

Ryoma is Ishin and you're right that he does act more like Kiryu than Musashi. Musashi is the one from Kenzan, he goes around murdering people but when he's not having a serious discussion he's straight up Kiryu with a lot of characters. Again, you really can't turn it into a generic with those two since they're both samurai, they both kill people, they both have the serious and Kiryu side of them, etc.

5 QR codes, they're all in easy to find spots (One's in a building near Doc Emoto's clinic for Tiger Drop, one's using the drone in the Champion District, one's somewhere in Millennium Tower and I forgot the other two). There's a book to learn a move in the place Yagami destroys the power box during the main story but it looks like in later chapters you can revisit it so it's no problem. It's pretty easy to grab since the window blatantly spells out there's an entrance as you pass by it.

OOT 3D is either an absolutely awful remake of the greatest enhanced port ever released

I played it in 2011 and payed 50 bucks for it, because you couldn't get it any cheaper back then (since it was a niche title and a complete flop outside of Japan, sold like 50 k units or something I think?).
Honestly, as much shit Kiwami gets, it's superior to the original in almost every regard. I don't mind a few missing side plots and the Majima everywhere system, although it's harder it's much more enjoyable to play, also the prologue and the additional cutscenes help to give the entire main story and Nishiki more depth then before.

I was running past all of the QR codes for about four hours until one guy mentioned he saw a JP player using an ability in the demo I couldn't find on the menu (It's the top-left one) so you might potentially have to look their locations up because the one in the Champion District you would never find without a guide (That was the Tiger Drop one) since it's in a place you rarely visit and would never turn the camera to let alone selfie.

The boss designs suck, nearly all the substories suck and feel like rejected Zero substories, the new OST fucking sucks, the DoD style in Kiwami fucking sucks dick, the cutscenes literally just re-use the animation from the PS2 game, and Majima Everywhere got tiring halfway through the game.

I'd rather have fun playing decently designed boss fights in the original game than have to deal with the garbage design of Kiwami's.
If the Kiwami games at least re-did the animation rigging, re-did the storyboarding of the cutscenes, and re-wrote some story beats to be more impactful and sensical, I would like them so much more. But the Kiwami games are clearly a rushed job.

Its story is best experienced in a "It's so bad, it's good" way, it would ruin the fun to describe it.

Nope, it's a TV adaptation of the PSP games (Both games had a season) but they don't follow the game's story or characterizations at all. A simple example besides massive story changes is that Tatsuya laughs after he has the realization he killed a bunch of people in the game and he's general an absolute asshole for the starting half of the game whereas in the show he's just mostly confused and a nice kid who just makes some dumb mistakes. The subs are also crabsticks since the only ones out there are from pirated DVDs that had English translations, no one bothered to sub the show.

Literally the entire fucking plot could have been avoided if Park and the other guy just have told them earlier what they have planned.

Keep in mind that at this point the orphanage is in danger of closing because Kiryu is essentially out of funds, the kids are taking on part-time jobs to help Kiryu out, and this plot point carries over into 6 as well with all of them taking on part time jobs to keep food on the table. Obviously you could argue Daigo, Majima, or Saejima would help Kiryu cover stuff, but we also went from "I'm going to help the Tojo Clan" to back to living in the orphanage between the end of 4 and 5. For all we know he didn't want to accept money from them and keep the kids out of it.

I played every yakuza game on release except the japanese-only spin-offs and I'm glad this series is coming to pc simply because of long term preservation (they're not even using denuvo anymore) and how easy it is to patch in the japanese music now
I fucking hate console shitters who need to justify their purchases, I'll be glad when I can finally be rid of my ps3 but I have to keep it hooked up because certain exclusives still aren't playable on rpcs3 (the mgs games, code veronica hd, tokyo jungle, at least yakuza 3-5 are getting refitted for modern hardware even if they are likely going to censor more things than what they originally stated)
Even if steam disappears and there's no other way to legally purchase then it'll be much easier to pirate these games on pc in 15 years than to hunt down a ps3/4 with working controllers and a phisical copy that you can't even buy dlc for anymore because the online stores for those consoles will be long gone

Make it Rain 1 or 2, I personally did 2. Platinum hostesses then A ranks are your filler choices but not-Bright and the blonde I think are the best ones you can use. The idea is if you can get the first three or four guys out ASAP then the rest is Mr. Libidos for the last two minutes. Remember that you can buy some of the sake from the Seed Store to level up the platinum hostesses a bunch for next to no investment.
Also remember that when you beat a level you get money towards your debt (Until you pay it off) AND toward your wallet, so in reality you only need to earn 50 million. Then you can just go to Kenshiro's hideout and pay the old lady on the bench the 50 mil and there you go.

Kuze is the only standout boss fight cause you whoop his ass so many times

I liked the fight with Sera because it's the only time in the series you fight him.

Shibusawa hands down. Not because of Shibusawa himself but the music, the movesets that mirror your own and the transitions between each phase as well as the final note were amazing.

I cannot for the life of me beat the last few bouncer missions in Kiwami 2. Between the huge amounts of health and enemy variety I can't dodge damage reliably and end up getting killed in some way.

I also never get tired of the locations or the random beatdowns in the streets.
These games are the definition of "comfy" even though I'm not fond of that term, I just don't know how to describe them otherwise.

Abuse Ultimate Heat, there is no shame. If you want go beat the normal substory Amon first and visit Kamiyama, he sells a book that makes it so if you swap out your weapon it regains all of its durability. Hopefully you picked up the fire sword from Osaka Castle but if not hopefully you have a sword with 45 damage or higher from nuveau riche guys and at least two of them.
The point is that you need two weapons with high damage, then it's simply equipping the entire Bloody item set (Chainmail, rags, and the ring that increases damage when at red bar) and abusing Ultimate Heat and the environment to regain Heat from running around in red bar to go back into Ultimate Heat to abuse the "Can't die in Ultimate Heat" clause of it.

They didn't balance 70-72, don't even attempt it normally or you'll rip out your hair considering RPG Amon can one-shot you from across the map and SMG Amon can shred 60% of your health.

Not to mention that the latest versions of the minigame contain decent guides compared to fucking yakuza 2 which was when I first learned the game.
You could barely see the tiles at that resolution.
Forced myself to learn shogi too but I can never reliably win to this day.

Yep, it has some faults and annoyances but it's still a pretty drastic change over 1 and has a lot of new cutscenes and substories. They also changed several events from 1 which are fun to see like how Komaki teaches Kiryu for instance. It's not expensive and while it has the annoyances if you liked 1 and 0 you should be able to like Kiwami since you already know what to expect content-wise.

No. They stopped that with 4 onward, you're completely fine. You can take your time because youc an make clear data from Premium Adventure and you have to go into it anyway for the Haruka trophies/achievements.

Should I bother unlocking the socks of fortune from the CP shop? The money upgrades were worthless in 0 what with money never being a problem and I don't want to end up missing out on the last few battle items from the shop like I did in 0.

Only because you have to buy them to buy the final speed upgrade.

It helps a bit early on if you can stand the sound and it'll probably make a million or two over a couple hours, but the vast vast majority of your money for 100% will come from either Coliseum farming for hours (It's dreadful, I don't recommend it) or savescumming high stakes roulette and getting the 2,000 roll on a 0 or 00 and buying the katanas that sell for 500,000 each leading to a 7 million profit. I'd recommend the latter.

Anyone know a fast and easy way to grind money in 0? I need to upgrade all my abilities but it's such a chore to do. Also need to upgrade Majima's but he doesn't earn a lot of money compared to Kiryu

Mr Shakedown have boss damage resistances to weapons but that doesn't apply to some 'elemental' weapons like the Zap Gun.
Also certain styles are better with weapons, for example a fully upgraded Beast style have strong base equipment damage as well as more damage and weapon buffs skills.
So a fully upgraded Full Health Beast style Zap Gun shot can literally deplete a max level Mr. Shakedown in just a few shots.

Demon Blade Myogetsu. If you're in chapter 16 you can buy it at Beam, and you can also buy the thunder counterpart at the Ryugujo (The homeless building) weapon shop. The lightning ones were the ones I used personally and just swapped between the two I had equipped to keep them up. I think the elemental damage does more than something like a Chinese Saber but you can try that if you want.
